During the Black Friday promotion, I purchased two 50ml perfumes from the official website: Gypsy Water and Blanche. The promotion rules were very clear at the time — purchasing one perfume would receive Black Friday gifts, and purchasing two perfumes would receive more gifts. This was the reason I decided to buy two perfumes.
After receiving my order, it included the two perfumes, Black Friday gifts, and samples. I only used the samples, but due to personal fragrance sensitivity, I decided to return the unopened Gypsy Water and keep Blanche.
I contacted customer service through the website the day after receiving the order to request a return and was instructed to fill out a return form. However, after submitting the form, no one contacted me for an entire week, and I eventually had to proactively reach out again via online chat.
The overall return process was extremely frustrating. Customer service did not provide all required information at once and instead asked for materials in a fragmented manner — first requesting photos of the unopened perfume, then later asking for photos of the Black Friday gifts to be returned. This back-and-forth process was very time-consuming.
I clearly explained that I purchased two perfumes, was returning only one, and agreed to return the corresponding Black Friday gifts (excluding the used samples). However, I was told that the Black Friday gifts were only associated with Gypsy Water, and therefore all gifts had to be returned if I returned Gypsy Water.
This explanation clearly contradicts the Black Friday promotion details shown on the website at the time. The promotion stated that purchasing any one perfume would receive gifts such as body wash, body lotion, and a candle, and purchasing two perfumes would simply receive more gifts. The gifts were not tied to any specific fragrance.
After approximately three days of repeated communication, I was then informed that I would need to wait an additional three days to receive the return label. This is the first time I have experienced such a slow and confusing return process in online shopping.
This was my first purchase from Byredo and, unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. The return process, customer service efficiency, and overall shopping experience were all far below expectations for a brand positioned at this level.
