I recently bought a 2015 Jaguar XF (2.0 Ingenium) from Caledonia Vehicle Solutions and wanted to leave a detailed review because the service has been excellent from start to finish.
Before the sale, I requested that the timing chain be replaced even though the car wasn’t yet at the mileage where it would normally be required, and there were no symptoms. They agreed to carry this out without any fuss for long-term peace of mind. They also supplied the car with a full clean MOT with no advisories, which they offered upfront without me having to ask.
Shortly after taking the car home, a small issue appeared — a boost/intercooler pipe popped off, causing loss of boost pressure and a heavy air noise under throttle. This can happen if a pipe isn’t fully seated after major work in the engine bay, which tied in with the timing chain work that had just been done.
What really impressed me was how they handled the situation. From the sales team to the workshop staff, everyone was friendly and helpful. A mechanic came out roadside with a courtesy car, swapped vehicles on the spot, and took the Jaguar back to Jason (the owner) to sort it out. Jason dealt with the situation head-on, without any fuss or hassle, and kept communication clear throughout.
When the car was taken back to Ayr, I asked them to check the rear brakes, as I wasn’t sure if they would need done soon. Instead of just inspecting them, they decided to replace the rear pads and discs as a courtesy, even though they had passed MOT and were still perfectly legal. They didn’t charge for this — it was done purely as a goodwill gesture.
When the car was returned, they had fixed the pipe properly, kept the car long enough to road-test it properly, and drove it all the way back to me in Lochgilphead so I didn’t need to travel back. On top of that, they extended the warranty from 6 months to 12 months for added peace of mind.
I have only received the car back today, but based on how they have handled everything so far, I fully believe that if any other fault were to occur, it would be dealt with quickly and without any hassle.
Overall, they replaced the timing chain as requested, supplied a clean MOT, handled a minor fault properly, provided a courtesy car roadside, delivered my car back once sorted, carried out extra preventative maintenance without charge, and the staff were friendly from start to finish. Based on my experience, I’d happily recommend them.

I looked at the reviews of Caledonia Vehicle Solutions on line and was impressed with the way they dealt with any customer questions or issues. I was interested in an Aston Martin Vantage and travelled over from Northern Ireland to take an extended test drive and view the vehicle. Jason was very open and straightforward. We discussed the good points of the car and any issues that he agreed to look at. When I went back a few weeks later all the agreed points were sorted, another extended test drive , a fresh MOT and I drove the car back on the ferry. Thanks Jason and Becca for a very professional customer experience and I am delighted with the Aston.

I travelled over 500 miles to view, buy and collect an amazing Porsche Cayman S. The images and details online were great, and the car was actually better in the flesh. Outstanding communication from initial enquiry to collection, Jason was amazing, went out of his way to collect me from the airport too. I would have no hesitation in returning here for future car purchases, they seem to have a great range of vehicles.

Travelled 1 hour 30mins today after a scheduled appointment for a test drive to then be told the car had been sold the previous day with no notification

Recently changed my car with the help of Jason and the team at Caledonia Vehicle Solutions their no pressure sales and excellent follow up on a couple of small points was greatly appreciated would have no hesitation in recommending them or using them again in the future.

Excellent company, Small family business that in my experience go out of their way to give the customer a great service, Jason pulled out all the stops to get my new car ready in time to take it on Holiday, It was delivered to my door free of charge , Derek the driver took me through everything on the car . I retract my previous review. Jason was good enough to call me personally to explain the situation. I didn't fully grasp the pressure the business is under due to Covid, backlog etc. I bought my current car from Caledonian two years ago and have to say was given excellent service. In this instance I maybe acted a bit rashly and I would indeed recommend Jason and his team.

Absolutely shocking experience. My car has a coolant problem. Took it into them on Tuesday 4th January and they still hadn't looked at it 9 days later. The owner, Jason Skimming, was so blasé and unapologetic it defied belief. I've never come across anyone with such disdain for the customer. I will never use them again... truly appalling.
