I bought a $700 varsity jacket and it arrived without the plastic sealed wrap was used and the wool was pilling. Not only did I not get a refund they would not even exchange the jacket!. Never buy anything from Roots online.
Gender Free??? Give Me A Break!
Gender Free? What ever happened to Unisex? Give me a break.
Chinese made clothes now and now we have gender free categories. What happened to this company?
Never again will I shop there again and I have been a customer for 20+ years. I supported because it was Canadian made and was quality. That's gone down the tank too now.
Your track pants are garbage!
Your track pants are garbage!! The draw string breaks with in a few weeks and the pants become unuseable due to them being 10x bigger without the draw strings. I wouldn’t waste another dollar on the expensive clothing that never last . Very disappointed in the lack of useable clothing
Absolutely horrible return policy
Absolutely horrible return policy. Paid full price for gift item. Recipient didn't like style. We went to same outlet and paid full price for new item. They said that outlet could not refund nor exchange past 30 days of purchase. We live mostly away so we simply were not around. They now say we have to exchange the item at specific stores which means we are forced to find something else we like at roots even though we bought a replacement gift already. Roots is not even close to understanding customer service in the year 2024. They deserve declining sales and are embarrassing to Canada. Will never shop there again. Better service and products elsewhere thankfully.
Customer service is terrible!!
Customer service is terrible!!! I wanted to purchase my family matching sweats for Christmas from roots. I went a head and made sure to select colors that were in stock in the sizes I needed and placed my order over a month in advance. A few days later I got an email saying one of my items was canceled. I contacted customer service and was told that the item was out of stock (even though it said online it was in stock when I ordered it) to check regularly for to see when it would be back in stock. I proceeded to check in multiple times per week. Christmas came and went and it was still not in stock. Finally 3 months after I placed the order I checked back in and to my surprise the item was not longer on their website. I reached back out to Roots customer support to see what happened. I was told the item was discontinued in the color I ordered (keep in mind it is their standard sweat pants). No big deal, I should be able to exchange the sweatshirt for a different color and problem solved. I ask customer support and they said I was outside the return window so they could not do an exchange. After more back and forth they offer a coupon but said I cannot exchange the item. Even though I followed exactly what they told me to do and they still made minimal effort to fix the problem that they created, and their solution is to have me spend more money with them. Their customer service is some of the worst I have ever dealt with and I will NEVER be purchasing anything from Roots Canada again, that is for sure.
Plastic fasteners
I love your socks. They are so soft and comfortable. I got a 6 pack at Costco in the earth tones for Christmas. As I was taking them apart, the plastic fastener pulled one of the socks badly and one other a bit. Why do you have to use those awful plastic fasteners? Sad.
Dye running on made in Canada sweater
I purchased a made in canada sweater for a gift and then didn't end up gifting it. Eventually, I decided to keep it and wear it. I used to buy roots all the time... and I wash my clothes in cool cycle with gentle detergent, and hang to dry. This expensive made in Canada sweater colours bled from the red section to the white sections ON THE FIRST WASH. The tags inside still look new. When I contacted customer service they would not help because I bought it and didn't wear it for about a year. They would only help if i had bought it and emailed them by 6 months. The problem is that it's easy to verify the sweater is practically new - the inside tags are not worn down. I'm disappointed because made in Canada sweaters are way more expensive and I thought I was paying for the better quality line... I get it, it was too long for you to help, but don't you dare tell me that it's not defective. Why not have offered some sort of helpful tips to get the red dye off the white???
Sad..
Sad... Just bad. Ordered shoes and somehow it's lost somewhere. Contacted service, but i really think dumb and dumber are working there.
Want my money back but no, i have to return the shoes first..🥴.
I wanted to start a shop with Roots clothing and wanted to know as a regular customer how good they are, no good. So i import Jaco canadians ( negativ liner Roots replica), good service, nice contacts and good shoes, my customers love them!
I’ve been a client of roots Canada for…
I’ve been a client of roots Canada for at least 30 years. The company was sold to a ( I believe a Chinese company) a few years ago and I noticed that the elastic for man shirts and sweat pants is on the waist is not the same quality.. the sweat pants I bought last years doesn’t hold my waist because the elastic is poor quality.. but the sweat pants I’ve had before they sold the company are still holding my waist. All that to say that roots is now saving on the quality of their waist elastic so I will no longer purchase anything from them after being a client for more than 30 years..
Be aware of bad customer service and…
Be aware of bad customer service and online order scam. I drove to Richmond store to purchase 4 jackets, 3 of them are out of stocks so I asked them to order online for me, To find out two days later, they charged my credit card $444 in USD instead of $444 in CAD. The receipt the sale clerk gave me has no currency on it, I thought if I placed order in Canada, it should be Canadian dollar as current exchange rate is $1 USD to $0.72 CAD. That’s $172 CAD difference. Then they cancelled two of the jackets without inform me because they are out of order (no real time inventory system). I asked them to cancel the 3rd jacket as they hasn’t shipped yet but was told they can’t. The customer service is completely disregard with customer’s complaint.
Dishonest !!!
Unfortunately I find them dishonest and cheat full
There was a big sign next to roots outlet store at vaughan mills shopping mall on Nov 22 , 2023 which says UP to 60% OFF
I searched whole store for any item 60% off , there was none
Asked the sales rep , to show me an item 60% off and I want to buy that item
She said there is none 60% off , max discount is 30%
Guys, is this that hard to be honest and do not waste people’s time by your fake
Advertising !!
Please respect …..
Website does not work in 2023
Website does not work in 2023. Sent link to a friend for an item and the link does not load even for me when i click on it. I will do my best to never buy anything from roots ever again and warn others of the same.
Ordered a purse online and wanted to…
Ordered a purse online and wanted to ship it to a friend in the US as a gift. They made me order it from the US site and the price was exactly the same but they changed me in USD. Total rip off. Never ordering from them again.
Buyers Beware
Bought a flawed purse. Asked for assistance and was told I could purchase another one as a good will gesture for $20 off. Buyers beware
Loved roots back in the day
Loved roots back in the day. So ordered some joggers from uk arrived quickly. Loved the fact that all things made in Canada with fair wage.
But I looked at label, made in China! They are also just massive sizing. Have to take to tailors, which significantly bumps up the price of these China made joggers. Never again
I referred a friend recently and then…
I referred a friend recently and then spent $150 plus tax (min of $70 to qualify for the refer a friend program), so i more then exceeded this. did not receive anything post order so I called their Canadian customer service line and was told I qualified and would take a few days. Received NOTHING so I emailed - got a complete generic email back saying "you don't qualify have a good day". Absolutely ridiculous and my order will be returned and not shop there again. So much for their recorded phone calls of the rep telling me it would come in a few days after checking my account - clearly she just wanted off the phone with me.

Visited the missisauga square one store. Beautiful clothes unique to Canada. Great gifts and lovely quality!
Great Products - Bittersweet
We are definitely ROOTS fans!!!
Over the years, we have been extremely pleased with the quality, style, detail and comfort of ROOTS leather jackets, footwear and activewear!
While many of their products are on the expensive end, they have lasted remarkably well.
* Sadly, today I have to part with a pair of my FAVORITE boots. They are ROOTS low-cut hiking boots. They've been simply phenomenal. At the end of the day, they've lasted be about 15+++ years and it's time to let them go and search for a replacement.
MANY THANKS to ROOTS!!!
Horrible quality and styles
Horrible quality and styles. Purchased sweatpants. Sizing is so far off, Large is = XXXL. Fit is horrible, super huge in tummy area, and flat in the rear area, if you move at all they pull down in the back, and look ridiculous in the front. What happened? Just poor quality and horrible customer service. Bought online and they will not pay for return shipping. 3 pages of instructions on how to return items. Never shopping there again.
Inaccurate size chart, horrible company policy resulting to poor customer service.
Bought online and followed size chart for my toddler.
After receiving it, was confident in my buy so I washed it. The size chart was inaccurate as it didn’t take inconsideration of shrinkage.
Contacted roots customer service and was unable to help. Offered me 20% discount code so they can take more money from me.
