Employee Discrimination
The General Manager of the Trenton location actively discriminates against LGBTQ+ employees and the managers don't stand up for them when it happens. Multiple people including myself have seen it and heard of it happening over the last few years. This store doesn't seem like a safe place to shop at anymore as I worry about whether me and my boyfriend will be discriminated against as customers.

This is my formal complaint that I emailed
Summary of Incident:
I brought my vehicle in for the required Uber vehicle inspection.
The technician accepted and drove my vehicle into the inspection bay and completed the full inspection.
After the inspection, I was told that the vehicle had failed due to tinted front driver and passenger windows.
However, this tint issue is clearly visible from the outset and should have been identified before the technician entered or moved the vehicle.
Despite this obvious automatic fail condition, the store proceeded with the full inspection and charged me for it, knowing the vehicle would not be approved.
Concerns Regarding Staff Conduct:
When I requested the name of the shop manager, the Manager initially refused, claiming it was “ he’s name is confidential.”
The manager, Chiheb Abassi, was not wearing a name tag, breaching basic customer service and transparency expectations.
His name was only disclosed after repeated questioning — an unacceptable standard for a regulated service environment.
Furthermore, my car keys were withheld until I paid the inspection fee, which under the circumstances, felt coercive and unethical.
My Formal Concerns:
Improper Business Practice: Proceeding with a full inspection, despite the technician’s immediate ability to identify a fail condition, appears to be a deliberate effort to charge for a service that should not have been completed.
Lack of Transparency & Accountability: Staff refused to identify themselves and failed to wear appropriate identification, which is especially troubling in a regulated vehicle inspection setting.
Questionable Conduct: Withholding my vehicle until payment was made, despite clear grounds to contest the service, raises serious ethical and consumer protection concerns.
I purchased a Black & Decker Lithium…
I purchased a Black & Decker Lithium Sweeper from Canadian Tire which consists of a one battery cordless weed whacker and blower that for a very petite old lady works as described. Was able to weed whack 50’ alley way stuff along with backyard stuff my lawn mowing company doesn’t seem to do. Weed whacker appears to be fine but have not used the blower. Would’ve been nice to have 2 batteries just in case but seems to be okay for now. Hopefully I can buy the weed whacker prewrapped plastic refill easily (don’t know yet) and will see if blower is any good come fall. I am a very petite senior and thankfully the cordless weed whacker is not super heavy to use. Will see what the cordless blower works once fall hits and will report then. So far - a decent on sale B & D purchase.
Canadian shocked longtime customer tire is one of the worst…
Canadian tire is one of the worst retailers I’ve shopped at. For the first time in nearly 50 years, I asked for a refund on a product. The sales clerk who sold me this generator completely misrepresented the difficulty of using it, as well as claiming it would not be that loud. The generator was difficult to use and extremely loud to the point where I couldn’t use it. I took it back to Canadian tire and asked that they either refund my purchase or give me a credit as I have been such a long time customer of Canadian tire. They explained that they would do neither. I even called her office after the store refused to refund or offer a store credit I was shocked. After nearly 50 years of being loyal customer to Canadian tire, sadly, I will never walk into any of their stores again.
Had a plug and patch done to one tire…
Had a plug and patch done to one tire just over a year ago. This is suppose to be a permanent fix. Same tire leaking again. I know it is possible that there is a new nail or whatever, but what are the chances for the same tire? They did another plug and patch but would not verify that it wasn't the original one leaking. Of course this was to get another $45 out of me. While convenient to go to this store, I won't be back. Common theme that they will charge and charge even if service not require.
Purchased some Duplicolor Automotive…
Purchased some Duplicolor Automotive Paint and clear coat, absolutely the worst paint you could ever use on a vehicle. Decided to paint my bike 2 years ago with it, will not hold a shine even after several buffs and waxes and today ( Aug 10th2025) found out if it gets gasoline dripped or spilled on it the paint softens and wrinkles, that’s what the da&m clear oat is for to protect the paint, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME ON THIS PRODUCT, absolutely pathetic Canadian tire would lie about this product knowing very well it is no good. I’d post a photo of the damage but they don’t offer it.
Unqualified Products and bad customer service
They sell unqualified products and when you want to return they won’t! You’ll regret what you get from there.
Store credit expires
On certain return items they give you a store credit that expires after a year. I have a standing order not to shop at canadian tire due to my bad experience there, especially in their automotive section. Anyways, lost money. Should've kept what ever it was I returned. I rather support american companies and amazon than this garbage. In general all their products are rebranded Chinese items that amazon sells for the same price if not cheaper.

I sent 4 tires in to be balanced and valve stems replaced and when I got them back I installed them on my truck drove home and the next day 2 were flat so pumped them up and took them to another canadian tire to find out the valve stems were leaking so spent 7 hrs waiting and I'm not blaming the second canadian tire for how long it took but when I called customer service all I got was we can rebate you fifty off the cost of the second time fixing them ...this use to be a good store now it's the most pathetic one out there for car repairs
Avoid location beside the Eaton Centre…
Avoid location beside the Eaton Centre extremely rude staff for no reason. My husband and I have decided that we no longer support this brand. Home Depot from now on!!
Lousy store
So do you treat all your customers like thieves or is just bipoc and disabled ones! This is in regards to your lpo who works at the cambie store he harasses me every damn time I go into your store so now I walk out with stuff from other stores and be like nope not yours! Byeeee! I went to Home Depot they’re awesome unlike your stores not so much! So now I troll him I walk around don’t buy a damn thing and I walk out and I’ll keep doing it until he learns that unless I bought anything item I do not need a receipt! Do I need a receipt to use your bathroom?
Poor quality products and Terrible service
Bought a camping tent that tore the first time I used it. thats poor quality materials. Used the online chat to ask a basic question. copy-past, bot answes.
IF you have a credit on your Canadain…
IF you have a credit on your Canadain Tire card, the company will continue to take $2.00 off every month until it becomes zero. And if you don't pay off your balance come the due date, they charge you interest. So no matter what, you end up owing them money unless you keep your balance at zero come pay day. There is NO winning with this company. GARBAGE !!
I told them to cancel my Triangle Credit card as a result.
Thankyou to Mel Mel just helped me do a complicated…
Mel just helped me do a complicated return and she was so fast and efficient ..but what liked the most about her was how respectful she was towards me .She deserves 5 stars for her efficiency and her great manners. I’ll always shop at Canadian Tire.
Title: Extremely Poor Customer Service – Still No Resolution
I purchased a Ninja Airfryer from the Canadian Tire branch at Confederation Mall in Saskatoon. Shortly after leaving, I realized I had misplaced my receipt. I returned just two days later, only to be told that receipt reprints could only be handled between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. I explained that those hours don’t work for me due to my job, and I spoke with a manager and left my contact details—yet no one followed up.
A few days later, I called again around 1:30 p.m. and was told I could come in that same day, as the office would remain open until 3 p.m. I left work early and drove 18 km, only to be told by the same staff member that the person responsible had already gone home. She showed no remorse or accountability.
I escalated the issue to the corporate office, but was redirected right back to the same branch. No one has taken ownership, and I’ve still not received my receipt or any communication from Canadian Tire.
This experience has been incredibly frustrating. I expect a response and resolution immediately.
Buy Canadian - requires ROI
Canadian Tire buys out of business HBC can't be more symbolic of its potential demise. Clueless meet incompetence. HBC was resold and still couldn't compete. Franchisees crashing out of business under this license business model will impact CTC. It has required them to spend to update their stores while profits may not transpire. CTC doesn't maintain
franchise consistency, and CS clearly has no value. Christmas 2024, sold a defective and broken LED tree RESOLD as new. CTC is clearly inconsistent in their operations. Their infamous sketchy return policy when their franchisees appear to prefer to refuse returns. Yet some franchisees will accept and resell a resealed box as new. Isn't this fraud? CTC has been known also as crappy tire, the shoe fits.
It's 2025. Consumers have options , they can and do shop online, with items delivering in hours, within days. Incoming drones. AI will continue to delete human employees, benefit to the consumer, lose the poor customer service. B2C can be a detached transaction, Canadian Tire. Add CTC appears to be taking advantage of Federal incentives to hire subsidized Indian workers before Canadians. CTC can fade away with growing support of those who will exercise their consumer choice👍
Great CTC sold Helly Hansen,a historically good brand will not be tarnished or held back by inferior standards.
Went for a wheel alignment at Canadian…
Went for a wheel alignment at Canadian Tire 14th ave. and hwy48.
I was refused because my tires are not in a good shape. When I told them that wheel alignment has nothing to do with the condition of the tires, I was treated bad and told never to go back to that store.
Obviously, if these are the mechanics Canadian tire employs now days I will never go back there.
Ordered on line
Ordered on line, they have no idea if its even available days after it was suppose to be here. What a total waste on my time
Very bad experience with customer…
Very bad experience with customer service snd return policy. I asked associate for led 21 inch tube light . He gave me two lights and I tried to install they were 22inches size. I went to return snd was told rudely at customer counter that I cant return , only pick up another light. I told you dont have 22 inch light.
They refused to consider my request.
I had same experience before , I bought small drill snd it was bad wuality, no power. They refused to return.
We talk about buying from Canadian stores,if this is their service , what should we do?
Ultimately top msnagement is responsible for this type of bad customer service,
