I would love for Care.com to allow me to display a range of pay for my services instead of a single number (e.g. $22-$28). Someone requiring a nanny with college degree and cook skills should pay more than someone without these requirements. Also, I would like a parent rating service. I’ve been told I was hired and when confirming I was on my way to work the first day, I was told they didn’t need me because the had found someone cheaper ( lack of proper communication), I have had guys contact me for “organizing services” that then sound more like “female companion” services, etc.

Care.com used to be useful for booking reliable sitters at late notice; then they quietly discontinued direct booking service in Jan2026 and refuse to provide refunds for annual subscriptions - rendering the rest of the term pretty useless. Sitters often message to apply then do not respond, generally a terrible and frustrating service.

In my experience, Care.com did not meet my expectations.
The platform advertises hourly rates for services like cleaning, but in practice, most providers I contacted did not offer hourly pricing. Instead, they quoted fixed prices that were significantly higher than expected, without first clarifying my needs.
For example, I was quoted $500 for a cleaning service, even though I had not requested a deep clean. This made the experience feel inconsistent with what is presented on the platform.
I also reached out to customer support to explain the situation. While I initially received a response, I did not receive any follow-up after my reply, which I found frustrating.
Overall, based on my experience, I did not find the platform useful for my needs.
For childcare, I personally found alternatives like Sitting Made Simple to be more structured.
For cleaning services, I would suggest considering established cleaning companies, where staff are typically insured, background-checked, and service expectations are clearer.

I found a job within two weeks. This is the third position I have had from Care. The first one was for a year until they moved. My second job lasted five years with a great family that were transferred to another state. I actually found my third job before my second job ended very quickly. All of my jobs have been found quickly.

Great concept. Email s saying I had messages but needed to pay to open them.
Paid my £36 for three months.
The mail was a welcome message from the founder. No emails responding to advert.
Decided to explore further now I have paid, sent over 10 messages to people in reasonable geography,
That was over 1 week ago, not a single reply or even acknowledgement.

Within 24 hours was able to find a house cleaner that I felt comfortable with that had a background check. Within 48 hours my house I was able to have my first cleaning. Now I routinely use her every two weeks and feel so comfortable with her and the process!

Overall it’s a great app only issues I have is one time job post don’t appear on my feed till day of or after job request even being a premium member. Also jobs stay in feed for months after expiring.

Although I had a little trouble navigating the site at first, I was able to not only review prospective aides, but I was also able to hire one.

I would rather give Care.com 4.2 stars, I only knocked off a star because:
1. The customer service is hard to access.
2. I paid for an enhanced background check and it hasn't shown up on my profile.
3. The app doesn't always format well on my phone.
That being said I've found most of my clients from this app. It does work well and I've been using it for years. The jobs that work best for me show up on the search list, updated hourly. I like the way each job is dated by hours posted. The search by zip code is especially useful, and helps me search areas accessible by the expressway and other routes quickly. The service this app provides is worth the money.
