Absolutely appalling customer service

Absolutely appalling customer service - don't even bother with their customer care team - invariably it's a poorly trained person, unempowered and unable to provide an answer or solution. Careem should be ashamed... as for their Ride offering... be very careful. It is my experience the app will claim their are no drivers available, or no hala cars available and it will try and push you to their more expensive vehicles instead of ordinary taxis. I can't help but feel there is something very wrong and worrying with this organisation. Be careful using them.

Careem's AI-powered ride allocation is…

Careem's AI-powered ride allocation is a joke in Dubai. Booked a ride from Business Bay to Dubai Marina - app showed 5 min arrival but driver was 15km away. The 'smart routing' took me through Sheikh Zayed during rush hour instead of the shorter Al Khail route. When I complained, their AI chatbot couldn't understand 'alternative route' and kept sending template responses about 'dynamic pricing'. Their algorithm clearly doesn't account for Dubai traffic patterns during peak hours. The ETA predictions are consistently off by 20+ minutes. For a tech company operating in UAE for years, you'd expect better localization. Their customer service is useless too - just copy-paste responses about 'traffic conditions' as if that's not something their app should predict.

The worst service ever

The worst service ever. I have orderes some products from Viva supermarket throught them, beside, delivering less that what i ordered and paid for, they brough wrong itens and refused to change them. A complete disgrace and shamefull service, that i paid for.

Inaccurate Tracking, Poor Driver, No Customer Support

This was a completely unacceptable experience with Careem and a clear failure on both the driver’s side and customer support.

I booked a ride that was estimated to arrive in 5 minutes. Within a few minutes, it became obvious that the car was not moving at all. I contacted the driver to confirm whether he was actually on the way, and he falsely reassured me that he was.

That was not true.

After waiting 12 minutes, I called him again and was told he was “close.” Shortly after, the app marked him as “arrived,” while I was standing at the exact pickup point with no vehicle anywhere nearby.

I then had to repeatedly call and message him just to figure out where he actually was. It turned out he was somewhere behind the building, completely out of sight and not at the designated pickup location. His justification was that he “couldn’t stop” at the entrance because of a bus stop, despite there being more than enough space to pull over properly.

The result: a pickup that was supposed to take 5 minutes took 25 minutes instead.

This delay directly caused me to be late while others were waiting for me. The entire situation was caused by poor navigation, lack of transparency, and inaccurate status updates.

What is even more concerning is Careem’s handling of the complaint. I contacted customer support requesting a partial refund due to the clear service failure. The response was dismissive and unhelpful: since the ride was completed and paid for, no action would be taken.

This is not acceptable.

Charging customers for a “premium” service while delivering this level of disorganization, misinformation, and lack of accountability is misleading. Both the driver’s conduct and the company’s refusal to address the issue reflect a serious gap in service standards.

Thieves and scammers

Driver arrived early, made no attempt to contact me, then left and completed the journey without picking me up.

Careem refused to refund purely because the route was “completed”, despite clear evidence I wasn’t in the car and had to book alternative transport.

To make matters worse, after my complaint was rejected I lost access to my Careem account and could no longer view my booking or complaint history.

This is not professional customer service. I’ve deleted the app and won’t be using Careem again.

DO NOT TRUST CAREEM FOR INTERNATIONAL MONEY TRANSACTIONS

I used Careem services for making an international money transfer from my bank in UAE to my bank in the Netherlands. Despite the promise of transferring the money in minutes the money never arrived in my bank. I’ve been requesting proof of the transaction and the client service keeps promising that they will solve the use but after 5 days of calling back and forth no resolution. They keep assuring me that they are working on it, however there has been no progress. Contacted my bank in Wurope and was told that no money has been transferred to my account.

No refund for one week now

I recently booked a trip for my colleague to come to work and having my bank account details registered on their app, they have this system of temporary holding 100 dhs for any trip then they deduct the areas and refund it. I was surprised till date that it has not been reimbursed my 75 dhs for a 25 dhs trip. They called twice in the span of one week but still no resolution. I’m awaiting for their response this week and if there’s no chance of solving this I’ll leave my rating the same. Still I’d advise add your bank account on their app at your own peril.

INTERNATIONAL REMITTANCE - ESCALATION


On December 2, 2025, I initiated an AED 1,000 international instant transfer via Careem Pay to my Indian bank account Despite my Careem account being successfully debited, the funds have not been credited to the beneficiary account. My Indian banking partner has formally confirmed non-receipt, stating they are unable to accept transactions originating from Careem Pay, which directly contradicts Careem Customer Service's assertion that the funds were transferred and credited. I have provided all required supporting documents, yet the continuous response from Careem has been limited to formal, non-substantive replies.

Careem Pay Is Holding My Money Hostage – Wrong UTR, No Accountability, Same Copy-Paste Replies Everywhere

I am beyond frustrated with Careem Pay and their shocking mishandling of my international transfer.

On 27 November 2025, I transferred AED 4,600 to my NRE account in India. Today, the funds are STILL missing. No update, no resolution — nothing.

Every time I contact Careem support, they simply close my complaint without solving anything. They keep sending me a UTR number that is NOT the same as the UTR shown in their own app. How can a financial service provider give two different UTR numbers for the same transaction? Because of this mismatch, my Indian bank cannot trace the money.

This is not just incompetence — it is irresponsible and unacceptable behavior for a company dealing with people’s money.

And before Careem responds with their standard line: “Please contact us on Twitter/X or LinkedIn so we can assist you” — let me make this very clear:

I have already posted this issue on X, Reddit, and LinkedIn, and even there, Careem only gives the same generic, copy-paste replies as their customer care team. No real investigation, no correct UTR, no action. Just scripted responses repeated across platforms.

As of today, they still cannot provide the correct UTR number, which means nobody knows where my AED 4,600 even is.

Credit card charges

Be very careful with credit card charges! They just charged me for a service I never requested or approved just because they have my credit card number on file. They are always very efficient in charging you, but extremely slow in returning the unlawfully charged funds.

Terrible Experience

Terrible Experience – Do Not Recommend!
I ordered food that never got delivered. Later I was told the driver supposedly left it outside on the ground, but I was never contacted or notified. When I reached out for help, customer service was awful — I spoke to both an agent and a manager, and neither helped at all. Even after reaching out through the app, they kept sending the same copied message over and over without actually addressing the issue. This app feels like a total scam.

Money transfer was delayed for 3 days and customer service kept asking me to wait!
My order was delivered to the wrong address, and although the refund was processed, I can’t withdraw the remaining balance for 2–3 days!
