First time I’ve used them and very happy with the experience. Had originally booked the RAC, but needed inspection sooner.
Carexamer.com were able to inspection with 2 days notice.
Mid Inspection was very detailed with great online reports, pictures and voice notes.
Inspector (Klaus) was very helpful and discussed the report with me.
Problems were identified resulting in a £1200 saving.
Would recommend and use again.

Good comprehensive review. Unfortunately the insepctor was somewhat hampered by not being alowed to drive the van by the owner, which affected the efficacy of the fina review. However, I did manage to reach the conclusion that the van was not for me, so this saved me investing a large amount of money for years of headaches.

Chose Car Examiner to do the search as the premium search with Car Examiner was approx £60-£70 cheaper than the comparable RAC and AA searches. Booked the inspection on Thursday and it took place on Sat. The inspection was very thorough and much more extensive than I expected, I was very impressed. I’ve had inspections done before and this one was by far the best. The technician took me though all the points on the report and was happy to discuss any issues with me. Ultimately it saved me from shelling out £37k on a car that had a lot of hidden issues. Would definitely use Car Examiner again.

Well, I tried to get them to check a car, but they were unable to get someone to go out to it. It then dawned on me that they use 'independent' engineers and are not employed directly. To add insult to injury, the price on the website was wrong, and they wanted to charge me another £40. I put the two things together, and I cancelled. However, they charged me £17.92 for that.
I waited on the phone and waited; I emailed them, but they have not responded. No idea why I have been charged for a service they could not fulfil!
Is your response not a Data Breach?

My third time of using and as before - good communication and timing, comprehensive report plenty of time to talk it through with the examiner.

Carried out the inspection as booked. Found some seriously problems with the car and saved me a lot of future expense and problems. Recommend Kami.

Very unhappy. Based on vendor garage’s advice that they would be able to accommodate vehicle inspection without problem I booked a premium inspection offering either 18/19 December as dates. This was done online on a Sunday afternoon. The vendor picked op message from inspector on the morning of 18 December indicating he planned to inspect between 10 am and 12 noon that day. This did not work for vendor who rang me at 8.30am. I rang CarExamer immediately to arrange fresh date. Phones unmanned until 10.00am (why?) so I left message eventually acknowledged by email at 11.19 am.I was out and in meetings on Monday so rang CE this morning to rebook. Pretty flabbergasted to be told that I would have to pay the inspection fee of £287 again even though first inspection was cancelled and full fee debited to my bank account on day of booking which is contrary to statements on company website. Guy I spoke to at company very unhelpful and rather aggressive. Terrible experience,

Klavs was really thorough and also very patiently explained the technical terms to me as I'm not at all experienced with purchasing vehicles, without being at all patronising. He was very professional and kind.

Jonathan examined a car I was looking at buying with more and attention than a BUPA medical.
I had the premier service and the whole experience a pleasure. Best value for money I have received for a long time

Honest report which helped make a decision about purchasing the car. Also liked the breakdown of any potential cost that i may have incurred.

The examiner was on time at the inspection and also provided a thorough feedback of the car inspected!
He went through potential costs and advised at what areas will need looking at if purchased as is.

I chose this company for my car inspection (completed on 28 October 2023 by Jonathan Webster), because of the excellent reviews. I was nervous about buying a second hand car from a private seller, and I put my trust in Car Examer to deliver the service promised.
Initially, everything seemed great, and I purchased the car following the inspector's report. Since then three, serious, issues have come to light:
The inspector's report advised that "Parking assist operation" and "Lane Keep Assist operation" were both features on the vehicle which were "good" and "in working condition". Prior to this I wasn't sure the vehicle had these features, and the inspector's report was a pleasant surprise. Not a major surprise, because there were multiple other expensive upgrades included in the car that were not actually advertised by the seller. Given these features were all optional upgrades, this was 100% factored into not just my decision to purchase the car but also the price I paid for it. I specifically had paid a deposit on another vehicle (the exact same model, but one year older and from a dealer) and went with the one from the private seller solely because of the extra features. Without the extra features, I was 100% better off taking the dealer option, which also came with a warranty and better service history.
Since I booked a "premium" inspection with 300+ checks, which came with a "guarantee" that it would be carried out with "due care and thoroughness", I did not test ANY of these features before purchasing the car. In fact, I did not even test drive it before purchase, on the basis of the checks done by the inspector - less than 24 hours earlier. At this point, I will also flag Car Examer state in their guarantee that inspections are "meticulous".
So it was a major shock to find out after purchasing the vehicle and trying to utilise these features, that I couldnt find them. Initially, I messaged the inspector to raise this, thinking I was doing something wrong given the report explicitly confirmed they had been tested (note: where features were unavailable in the vehicle, the inspector marked as "Not Available for this vehicle") and working. I thought I just couldn't locate the features on this modern and high-spec car. The inspector didn't respond but ultimately I found out that neither of these features were fitted to the car , and the only way to get them now are costly retrofits (initial quotes are in the thousands of pounds).
Less important but I also want to flag the inspector in his report wrote that the car was "very dirty" making it "impossible to see any paintwork damage". I accepted it at the time of the seeing the report, however I have since realised that the car is perfectly clean in all of the many photos the inspector took! I am still in the process of taking independent advice on this particular matter and genuinely don't know if I have suffered any financial loss as a result.
I want to make very clear that this is all very new and I have not yet made a formal submission via Car Examer's dispute process. They may well investigate and put this right. However, the review accurately reflects my current experience today: I purchased a luxury car on the basis of the inspection report which had major inaccuracies, leaving me with a vehicle worth far less than I thought it was worth and missing valuable driver assistance features. Either CarExamer or the inspector must take responsibility for this. If they don't', how can anyone trust anything written in one of their reports?
Based on the lack of response from the inspector, and the limited communication I have seen from Car Examer, I am not optimistic that either will be taking responsibility for this by covering the cost of installing the missing features. In the coming days, once I have gathered all the necessary information, I will start their dispute process and hope I get a fair outcome.
If I had seen a review like this when I checked Trustpilot before choosing Car Examer, I would have gone elsewhere and not be in this situation. With that in mind, I hope this will help others in coming to their decision.
Update (10/11/23): Car Examer claim my review is fraudulent and that I ignored "standard resolution process". Well, I challenge them to clarify exactly what part of my review is fraudulent, or even inaccurate (it seems this is their standard response to EVERY negative review). I also remind them, that my review states I have not yet engaged their dispute process (I will do so, after, I have taken legal advice) and that THEY invited me to submit my review.
Update (19/11/23): On 10 Nov I raised a formal dispute with Car Examer. As of yet, the only response I have had is Car Examer saying the inspector would respond soon - which he hasn't!

This was the third report I’ve commissioned, all done by Klavas. Each and every time the report has been exceptionally thorough and detailed, with time and attention taken. I can highly recommend this service, it’s helped me find the car I was looking for in the condition I expect.

Booked an inspection for a car I was considering purchasing. The inspector found dangerous faults and several expensive issues. While the service isn't cheap, it saved me from making an expensive mistake.
One critique: Why am I being asked to tip? Are the inspectors not being paid a fair wage?
Edit: lowered overall rating due to response below. If the inspectors aren't being paid, what am I paying Carexamer for? The tip field is in the Carexamer web page, it's not as if the examer solicited for tips.

Brilliant service. Very detailed and took the time to explain to me any discrepancies. I would highly recommend and urge future customers to have a full check carried out. I would highly recommend the inspector who checked the vehicle I was looking at purchasing.

Johnathan was very thorough with his inspection. This included a detailed report, a video, numerous photos and a follow up phone call where I was able to ask questions and discuss his findings. As as a result, I was able to make an informed decision about buying the vehicle knowing it had been inspected thoroughly.

Had a premium inspection done by Klavs and was impressed with the results. He was exceptionally thorough taking over 2hrs and went over everything possible. His report and video were honest and detailed. The phone conversation was very informative and he was happy to answer questions and give advice even saying I could call again if I needed. Money well spent.

I had the AA inspect a car two months ago, and it was appalling failed to pick up that the steering wheel pulled to one side and the seat had a burn mark etc etc. CarExamer provided a quick service and the report I would like to say is so comprehensive and covered all the aspects I was expecting to see, there was a video walk around showing the defects and a full write up as well. I would highly recommend them and will be using them again.
