I may have been naive but hadn’t realised the dress would be second hand. The dress is fine but the smell was so powerful I had to air it outside. It’s a shame because I sent a polite email and had no reply. Which is why I felt the need to write this review. They need to be more open about the fact that some of the dresses are used.

After sending back a dress that was plucked I did get a refund, but now, and imo because of this, all emails are ignored many months down the line. Polite invitations to buy dresses don't even illicit a courteous response.I seem to have been ghosted for complaining!
Update: thank you for your reply, I beg to differ as my offer of a sale has been ignored three times, the first time in the return email from you re the plucked dress, and I do know how to check my junk folder. Selling the dresses is of absolutely no consequence at all, I was trying to be helpful. I am happy for them to go to charity, merely commented as I feel good manners are an integral part of shopping with an online business.

The fact you returned a dress would have made no difference to us as we always try to keep our customers happy. I am sure if you checked your junk/spam folder then you would have found our reply in there. Hi I normally leave a five star review for Carobethany however, this time I have taken one star off, as even though the dress I have purchased Is lovely and as described, the smell when I open the package was awful. We call it fusted, that is, smelling like something that has been stored in a maiden aunts long lost wardrobe! I suppose though that after I give it a good wash it’ll be wearable! Service, as usual was really good...

Excellent service
Excellent service. The dress arrived with a ribbon missing and I was refunded as soon as I returned the item. Admittedly it took a couple of emails to persuade them I should be entitled to a refund but this was settled very quickly once this was agreed.
The original dress is sold with a belt and it was not advertised without the belt therefore it was really disappointing to receive it like this and I felt somewhat deceived as I wasn’t given the choice to have it in this condition as such a refund would have been only fair. It seems, from the response by the seller that true reviews aren’t what they are looking for.

Thank you for your feedback. We are privately sellers, not a business and therefore we do not have to accept return requests. The dress was not advertised with the belt, it was not mentioned in the description and it did now show on the pictures on the listing either. Our website also clearly states that we are private sellers and that we do not accept refunds. We refunded you simply because we try to be as nice as possible to the people who buy from us.

Dresses arrived very quickly and were perfect. One did smell a little fusty may have been stored for some time but a few hours on the washing line soon sorted that out.
