Scammers' haven

Scammers' haven, with lip service from Carousell admin when lodging complaint and worse, email correspondences are auto replied with standard statements. Zero action even in the face of clear evidence & request to post buyer review, allowing scammers to continue victimizing unsuspecting buyers.

Unreliable and ridiculous customer service

My account was suddenly suspended as Carousell suspected me of having a second account which has unresolved transactions. I only have one account, had never heard of the other account but am somehow banned because of their suspicion despite lack of any proof. After some online searching it turns out this is somewhat common in Hong Kong.

What was ridiculous was the fact that customer service asked me to handle the unresolved transaction before my account would be reinstated.

1. I am not the owner of that account, and there is no way for me to prove this.
2. Even if I were, the other account too was suspended (I checked and saw that the account was no longer searchable), how would the other person settle any transaction without access to their account?
3. I was in the middle of negotiating a deal, and it was only pure luck that I decided to pay a seller deposit the next day as he replied quite late at night. Had I already paid the deposit before account suspension, I would have lost that money and had no way to communicate with seller. Suddenly suspending people's accounts means less consumer protection. Carousell could have disabled new chats or new listings, but to outright suspend an account leaves users no way to communicate when they have already paid deposit!

Unfair and Lousy Customer Service

I reported to Carousell yesterday, 21/1/21, about a seller who has cheated me by selling a tv console that's different from her listing. First, let me explain further what the bad experience is. I bought a tv console from a seller on a preorder basis. Prior to placing my order, I asked the seller if the top part of the tv console is made of engineered marble. I also told her that I wanted dark grey. There's a delay in the shipment from seller's supplier but seller failed to inform me until I pmed her. So had to wait for another week for it to arrive. Seller contacted me that the item has arrived in Sg and even said she had arranged for delivery on the same day in the evening around 8 pm. So come 8 pm but no delivery. Contacted seller to ask about it and she said item to be delivered to her place first! WTH! Then contacted me again to inform that the legs were not the colour that I wanted and asked if I mind about it. Having no choice, I said okay. The worst part was when I received the item. It wasn't engineered marble and it was dark brown. It was clearly marble-like laminate! There were scratches and finger prints everywhere on the top part. So I contacted seller and even showed her the pictures. Seller insisted that it was engineered marble even it's so obviously that it's not! WTH! Invited her to come to my place to see for herself. At first, she said okay but then changed her mind and said that she didn't need to go over to prove her 'honesty'! So I told her that I would report the matter to Carousell. She went quiet after that. Then I met with another disappointment. I was expecting Carousell to investigate my case but all they said was that they couldn't do anything and even hoped that I could understand them! So who's going to understand me, the one who was clearly cheated?!!! They didn't even bother to look through my conversations with the seller. If they had bothered to do that, they could see that the seller has cheated me. I even gave the pictures and a video of the item but still they didn't bother to do anything! I was really pissed with how they handled my case. I'm considering to delete my account soon.

Not a user friendly platform

Not a user friendly platform. The guideline are uncleared. Understand that brand tagging are not allowed, food products like Herbalife shake not allowed but I still see many listing with tagging when reported to support team they said acceptable in line with their guidelines but removed my listing with I did tagging, The worst selling platform I ever experience.

The Ultimate Failure of Online Shopping

I was told zillion times on how hopeless and unreliable is Carousell but I have to buy a particular products which is only available here, most unfortunately. Then the whole nightmare begins: seller with really bad attitude and negligence in handling the transaction; customer service which only sent you the "copy n paste" useless response; an utterly useless Protection Scheme which charges user extra yet provides zero protection.....bottom line is: I have never encountered such inefficient online platform from my decades of online shopping experience. I will never never use Carousell again and hope people seriously think deeper before stepping into this hopeless blackhole.

Until today I haven't done anything wrong other than reporting those asswipes.

Counterfeits free to roam freely while genuine sellers got their Authentic watches postings removed

For years I can see many Noob Factory Rolex, Fake Tags and Fake Omega Seamasters for sale and could never be brought down. But selling an authentic vintage Omega Speedy reduced got closed down for being fake. I don't know how the hell carousell works. Stay away from them as they're biased, lacks knowledge for their customer and products.

Use at your own risk

i use carousell quite often but not anymore, especially after my recent experience with them. I bought a cake from one of their sellers. Made full payment and an offer on the app at least 3 days before. Seller did not accept offer despite reminders. She was mostly non-responsive, even though she was online, did not even provide collection details on actual day until i texted her quite a few times. She cancelled on the actual day when i was already on my way down. Reached out to Carousell CS support, the CS team informed me that all they can do is issue a warning. Reached out to their CEO Lucas and Sui Rui but they seem to agree with such behavior and policy. You can use, but at your own risk. The organisation has changed for the worse and if you look around, my experience is not anything new.

Not Safe and Terrible Customer Support

Not trustworthy and safe at all. As a new user, the site doesn't provide any safety tips to protect yourself.

I got refund scammed (buyer: pokedude) as a new seller and support team all claimed no business, said they couldn't help me and gave me some bs reason. Worse part was that the buyer had a history of other scams and has since been baiting good reviews to cover it up. He also violated alot of user guidelines by swearing at others and being toxic in his reviews. Everything is public and some of his older buyers even came to me to give me sympathy. I brought all of this up to the support team but they just pretended like nothing happened. They wouldn't even remove his false review on my seller page and would always avoid the subject when I emailed them about it. Took them 1 months to of emailing back and forth just for them to tell me they can't do anything about it.

They also instant banned my account shortly after for ridiculous reasons even though I had not violated any guidelines. And when I emailed them to ask why they just ignored my queries and copy pasted the guidelines to me back. Refused to provide any evidence against my claims.

Funniest part is that during the emailing back and forth process, I had sent in an angry email to them as they kept deflecting my claims. Immediately after that, they suddenly sent my emails to the escalation team. Such a bad example to teach your users and also terrible to take advantage of your users politeness like that. They bother with your claims only if you act angry and write rudely to them but not when you ask nicely for over a month for updates from their team. The support team basically does not care whatsoever about your plight. Shame that they get paid when they don't even help or care about their customers. And for Carousell to allow this behaviour in their company is appalling.

I don't recommend using the app or supporting their site. If I could rate negative stars I would. Stay away from this site. Or if you do use it, pray that you never have to go to their customer service

High handed and unfair policies

Supported this app with app purchase of SGD1000 worth of credits, and it just disappear over night. Found out later that the credits(coins) have an expiry, and kindly asked for an extension, but they refuse.

I could tolerate the frequent buggyness of the app and error messages, but this high handed forfeiture of SGD 1000 is too much of a blow.

Hence serious sellers, i recommend other platforms like Q10 or lazada who handles such disputes with much more fairness and understanding

No longer the user friendly platform to sell off your used items

i was scammed before on Carousell, now they have the Carousell Protection which promised to protect the buyers. So basically they won’t release the money to seller until buyer received and accepts the items.

However, not all sellers use that.

As a seller, I came to realised that Carousell have drifted away from its original concept of a platform to sell off your used items. Instead they’re now turning it into a platform whereby who pays more gets more views and rank higher in the listings!

They used to provide free “bumps” whereby you can bump your listings up for free but now everything is about money. What to promote your listing? Pay money. What to bump your listing? Pay money.

Who on earth who wants to sell off their used items will pay to sell them off?

Then I forget my password and do some wrong sign ins while having to take captcha tests which I must of gotten wrong at some point. Only to find out that I’m no longer allowed to use my account despite the fact that I’ve done nothing wrong.

Very upsetting .....

I've been Carousell for more than 6 years. Had only good things to say but this incident has changed my view completely on how this Apps is running and non existing customer service they provided. Being a consumer, there's no protection at all.
My case started with 1 seller, who took my money and didn't deliver as guarantee and went MIA, no reply, no delivery on my goods etc, etc. I contacted the customer service and it was Andry who contacted me. Gave him all details with evidence and was told he has blocked and disallowed the seller till our transaction has been resolved. Guess what? Carousell didn't block him or whatsoever, I could still his posts and account. Customer service was lying to me and saying they have to prevent any new selling in the community. Sent this Andry 2 more emails on the next day for his explanation and of course, he doesn't answer to any of my questions. Miraculously, the next day the seller account was blocked and I've got a reply from the seller after a week that he's sorry and ran out of stock and refunding my money. My complain is there is no way I could review this Seller as he won't accept my offer, therefore he could run away with murder! And also I couldn't write in to Carousell to tell how bad this Andry is by lying and not answering questions and now the Seller is back on the listing. With this bad experience with Carousell the way they handle conflicts, I have lost all my confident!!
