Paid for express delivery and only part of my order arrived. Chased this up with the company who promised to resend. Rest of the order never turned up and the company have now stopped replying to emails. WASTE OF MONEY, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Update: now 17 days since initially placing the order, two fitting kids have turned up. They are not the correct kits. Please save yourself the hassle and avoid this company.

Ordered plates months ago haven't received them cant contact anyone for answers, constantly emailing and leaving messages with no response

Ordered on a Sunday and chose 'express delivery' at additional cost. Their website states weekend orders are usually despatched on a Monday and '90% of priority orders arrive within 48hrs'. There's even a countdown clock ticking down to 'Today's dispatch deadline' and a banner advertising 'same day delivery' at the top of their home page.

Don't believe a word of it folks! It's completely misleading.

My plates weren't even dispatched until the following Wednesday, so I emailed the company and received a copy/paste list of generic delivery information. Not a word of an actual reply in their email.

The plates arrived Saturday, however I had specified them to be road legal and they have supplied plates with characters of 55mm height (for the anoraks out there, the standard UK height is 79mm but for certain imported vehicles there is an exception in the legislation for characters to be 64mm, which is what I was expecting).

I really needed them by yesterday at the latest, which is why I paid extra for their 'priority' service...'90% arrive within 48hrs', etc etc, but at least if they had eventually sent me the correct items that would have been something. Now I am £40 out of pocket and have plates that I can't even use.

If you are considering using this company, you need to bear in mind that their 'express' service can take several working days and if you contact them, they will not enter into any kind of dialogue with you and just leave you guessing when your items will arrive. Once your plates they arrive, they might well be incorrect too, as in this case.

I will write back to the company and in the unlikely event they refund my money (or even reply), I will at least do them the courtesy of editing my review. Until then...avoid, avoid, avoid!!

Update Sept 25: all emails ignored, their 'helpful customer service team' webchat is a bot that just instructs you to email them, no phone number to call anyone, no address. Absolutely useless. After raising a charge back dispute with my card provider at least I was covered to obtain a refund this week.

The plates were easy to order and customer service was excellent when the first set didn't arrive. The second set were exactly as I hoped for. My only suggestion is that the company uses a different courier rather than Evri who really are not good.

I have used Car Plates Direct for years for my private registration and would not hesitate to recommend this company. The plates are high quality and the whole process is quick and easy.

Ordered a rear number plate, needed it for the week later. Paid £9.99 priority.
It arrived the day after we left,
A week after ordering.
I had emailed the day before we left as I hadn't received anything after ordering and all I got was a lousy email saying check junk for tracking.
1. I did and there was no email
2. I paid for priority so it should have been with me.
3. Awful customer service as I've emailed twice after this and I've received nothing.

I will absolutely not order from them again

Received plates very quickly. Unfortunately plates not road legal as did not have makers details and British Standard number. Ordering page is a bit misleading as drop down menu defaults to custom plates and then you have to click on it to select road legal. If it maybe said show plates or defaulted to road legal it would make it easier to select the right option.

no customer servicer, unable to amend order so had to pay carriage twice

Wow! Just wow! Ordered my new plates on Thursday, after having received a super quick response to a query I had (via email) and blow me down but they arrived today (Saturday). Plenty of updates along the way as well.

The plates themselves are well made and I cannot wait for the DVLA to transfer my personalised to my new car. All very exciting for a female petrolhead.

Needless to say, my experience has been faultless and I have no hesitation in personally recommending Car Plates Direct.

Ordered 2 sets of plates, big mistake, waited well over a week and nothing.£70 out of pocket, company won’t answer emails. AVOID THIS COWBOY COMPANY.

ordered plates with emblem border and bottom line name + fixing clips. arrived very fast. poor quality no border and no emblem name on bottom line so small could not read it no fixing clips got in touch many times and was told that was what you ordered. they just wanted to argue. after paying nearly £38 for this realized that they where con artists. so beware look elsewhere for much better deals.

Fast manufacture and swift delivery. Nice quality plates. Just what I was looking for. Couldn't be better.

Sent the wrong type of plates.
Didn't have BS numbers, so not road legal.

Customer service didn't care, and won't do anything about it. Just passed blame onto me.

Clearly a fault on their end but refuse to rectify.

Number plate arrived next day but without fixing kit which I paid for and cannot fix number plate on without it. Needed to affix to car quickly which was why paid £10.99 express delivery. Company said they would sent out fixing fit asap but still no sign of it 3 days later. Not great service

One of few company’s that allow you to do custom plates / Show plates. Ordered one for my tractor and arrived really quickly. Brilliant quality and very happy with it. Thank you!

Have not received my plates over a week after ordering
8 days after ordering told they were damaged in transit . Waiting for a response and resolution so far nothing at all .11days after order put in and still no delivery . They have remade plates apparently but no delivery details . Have had to buy other plates while I wait to see if these ever arrive shocking. Nothing no plates , no refund , no response . Seemingly if delivery goes wrong they just ignore you and keep your money

I paid for Express delivery on Friday night costing an extra £10. I understand that I’d missed Fridays deadline but when I received an email on Sunday evening saying

90% of Priority orders arrive within 48 hours We only dispatch on weekdays, Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri.
I thought they’d arrive on Tuesday possibly Wednesday at the latest. They finally arrived on Thursday afternoon.
There is no way of contacting or speaking to anyone other than responding some but not all of my emails. They say they don’t guarantee delivery. Save your money and use standard delivery if you are thinking of buying from them. I personally wouldn’t. I can’t comment on the plates as now away from home. I wanted the new plates on before I left. Very disappointing.

I ordered my car plates and when they came the quality of them were poor. They had a sticker on to show that they had been quality checked however that obviously didn’t happen.
The company has only one telephone number that is never answered. They say to email them however they never reply to messages. They say they have a three (3) year warranty but what the use in having a warranty if you cannot make a claim. Overall the whole experience was a mistake, spend your money with a reputable plate maker and save yourself the grief having to deal with Car Plates Direct.

Ordered express delivery plates for next day 2 day delivery and paid the premium after 4 days no plates and contacted customer service who sent me the tracking info I already had which told me nothing! Contacted again next day when still no plates requesting a refund on the “express” delivery, still no response. Absolutely rubbish after sales service, and they need to sort out the courier and surely refund me and not pay them.
