Peace of mind for my btc

I decided to subscribe to Casa after a bit of a wake-up call.. I basically “stored” my private keys on a random sticky note buried somewhere in my closet, and at one point I genuinely thought I had lost them. That pushed me to take security more seriously, especially since I've been dca'ing and stacking a decent amount of sats already. I’ve been using their 3-key setup since then, and it honestly helps me sleep better. The setup was simpler than I expected, and it feels great knowing my btc isn’t all in one place. Their support team has also been super helpful when setting everything up.

CASA DOES NOT MAKE THINGS EASY

I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to close my account going back-and-forth with customer support by email - only to come to the conclusion that it's not possible to easily close this account and move on.
I think I've spent well over $1000 with Casa over the last number of years, have not done one single transaction, and when I finally decide to close the account because of lack of usage, I am asked to pay something like $125 for customer support over the phone for one call, and, if not, then jump through hoops to make this happen and, after all that, I am told it's still not possible at this point without opening another bitcoin account somewhere else and then going through, who knows how many more technical pyrotechnics. So much for customer service. I certainly will not be recommending Casa to any one else, should they ask for my advice.

Very good concept.

Very good concept.

I signed up for Nunchuk and Casa, trying both. Nunchuk has some cool features on the platform key, such as a spend limit and a time delay. However, Casa seemed more professional, and at the end of the day, it's about who you trust the most.

Casa Obeys Rule Of Law

I had signed up for their free trial. Their service requires a more advanced iPhone than I currently have. I had forgot to cancel the membership immediately. The 1 month free trial expired. And then they sent a bill for the full 1 year plan. I was floored about the bill because I thought it was self evident that I had to void the contract.

When I sent a few panicky emails, letting them know I needed a refund. I made a "fair legal case" for why the original contract was void. They sent me an email approving a full refund same day.

If something smells later on, I'll come back and let you know, but so far, it looks like they honor the rule of law in their contracts.

Positive beginning :-D

I Joined Casa.io a month ago.
After having several conversations with them, I opened an account. The amount you pay for it is a lot but equal to other providers. What really reassured me is the fact that surviving relatives will be helped once I am no longer there.
Furthermore, I was a bit skeptical because you don't know how their protocol works in the background. Fortunately, you get clear guidance on how you can also access your funds via, for example, Sparrow Wallet, outside of Casa. Every looks fine and works perfect.
The email contact is fast (a response within 6 hours) and they are happy to help you.
So far I haven't been able to find any negative points ;-) Hopefully it will remain a positive experience.

I had a very poor experience with Casa

I had a very poor experience with Casa. I was initially misled to believe that the $10,000/year subscription was the only one. Only after I said that was far too much did they mention a $2,100/year option. I thought that sounded more reasonable, but at no point was I told there were lower-tier plans available.

I purchased the $2,100/year subscription, then later found out they also offered $250 and $1,000 options. I hadn’t even used any of the services yet, and a couple weeks later I told them that I was misled into thinking the $2,100 and $10,000 options were the only ones.

At that point, I asked to switch to the $1,000/year plan. They basically brushed me off. I had to reach out again, this time telling them that I’d be more comfortable just eating the $2,100 and never using any of their services and never renewing again if they wouldn’t allow the downgrade. Still, they refused.

I told them if they want to be cutthroat and just take the money, fine, but they won’t be getting my business again. It says a lot about a company that would rather mislead and alienate customers just to grab more money upfront, instead of working with them to build long-term trust. I would’ve been a lifelong customer.

They turned down a $1,100 refund, money they would have recouped the following year, and in doing so, lost what could have been $40,000-$50,000 over the years.

Not a good look for a company that expects people to trust them with long-term security to be so short-sighted..
