STAY AWAY FROM THIS TENTH RATE COMPANY

STAY AWAY FROM THIS TENTH RATE COMPANY. Frankly one star is TOO much for this company. This company have taken over a year to complete simple one day project. I think I could have done a better job of fitting the windows and door blindfolded and my hands tied behind my back. They pitch up with no goods, damaged goods or wrong goods and they cancel appointments at the eleventh hour. To add insult to injury, I have even been threatened and shouted at and blatantly lied to by their manager Martin . Thank God for the finance company who has had to intervene to get the job finished. This company has absolutely NO WORK ETHICS or skills come to that . My review clearly mimics lots of others so we can’t all be ‘making a fuss’ .

The worst mistake ever going with this company.

Poor fitting, no response when trying to rectify issue. Things were promised that never came. Avoid this company at all costs! I'm not going to go into all the details as there are too many to even begin but just do not use this company!

Awful company, avoid at all costs

Terrible company. Avoid at all costs. Had a porch fitted which toom over 6 months. Never returned calls, quality of workmanship was awful. Repeated ongoing problems with leaks and mould. Waiting for response after leaving many messages. Went to their premises in Peterborough which seem abandoned. Other address is simply a ghost address which acts as a base for mail (no physical presence). The warranty offered only kicks in if they go bust, however they are no longer affiliated to the organisation they sold to us. Please please save your money and sanity and avoid using them. In all my years I have never met such an awful bunch of business owners.

Awful company

Awful company, avoid at all costs. It has now been nearly 2 years since the saga began. Just like the commentary below, these people are not responding to calls, messages, videos of wrongly fitted windows letting in drafts. Several windows were wrong sizes, had to wait for those to be supplied again. Doors are not fitted properly either, letting in drafts, not having been finished properly. Not a single fitter had used a level to put the windows in correctly. Terrible company, disgusting attitude to customers. The salesman was good, but the rest is miles away from what you would expect.

Worst Experience

Had our windows replaced in July 2022 and they were input wrong three times and now they will not call us back or respond to emails as of our eight windows that were replaced 5 of them have been input incorrectly. Even worse is the fact that they put them in incorrectly into our children's rooms (one of who was under 1 at the time) and we spent the winter with two sick children due to the windows not been fixed properly and letting in drafts. We were able to speak to them in 2022 and even with our concerns about our children they have now stopped responding and we cannot get hold of them. I am devastated and worried about my childrens health again this winter and it shocks me that there are people out there willing to do risky things like this to young children.
I would avoid them at all costs.
If they are reading this please please please can you come and fix the windows you promised you would do for six months running before disappearing?

Had doors and windows fitted.But doors outside linings are bubbling and cracking. Despite numerous phone calls none of which were returned. This has been going on for 9 months now with no response.Have now decided to contact local radio consumer programme, and also possibly a national newspaper.

Terrible work, and they disappeared

Impossible to contact now. I have lost all hope as their phone number is removed, website is off and google maps show a location where they cannot be found.
Had my house windows and doors redone, almost went to court with them, but agreed to get it resolved in 2020. 3 years later, everything is falling apart, their surveyor pointed out quite a number of things needing fixing, he admitted their installer was poor, so I was promised a call back with actions, but now radio silence and can't find a phone number if I tried.

Do not touch with a barge pole !

Remember the BBC programme Rogue Traders ? This has been my life over the last few months. Incomplete, very poor installation of windows that seem to have been made to random measurements and were not to the specification agreed. Luckily I did not pay the full amount as I could see through them though they have still harassed me (and my husband who had no involvement) for the full amount. They took me to Court where their case was thrown out. I am now in contact with Trading Standards and my MP.

Very happy with the price but time…

Very happy with the price but time management and after sales is atrocious. 1). The windows were installed 3 months later than agreed after 4 false promises 2). One of the windows won’t open. I’ve left numerous messages and emails over the last 8 weeks asking them to fix but I’ve had no response. We also need a lot more windows and will be looking elsewhere

Aftercare Atrocious but Windows & Fitting Service Excellent

To start this I will say that the quality of the windows and workmanship is excellent, however I am rating this one star and will change the rating once my post sales issue is resolved.

We had a panel installed below one of our windows that was meant to be shiplap however at the time of fitting this wasn't available so a plain panel was installed with the assurance they would return to install the correct panel. Well that was 9 months ago and despite numerous contact attempts and a promise of a call we have still not had this issue resolved.

If you are going to use this company make sure you withhold payments until everything is resolved would be my advice.

Predators

Cowboys! 20k stolen from me by them for their failed project. It will cost me 3k to try and fix my ruined garden. I’m saving for legal help after two years of fighting this company. Please read the newspaper article below for details.

Also please note that in the article, Martin’s response isn’t accurate. I paid for planning permission for what they originally designed for me because their builders couldn’t figure out how to build from their CAD drawing alone. That was 6k over budget. After spending 14k building something that they had to tear down because they themselves admitted their fault.

(I can’t attach links; it’sa image of me with my red head scarf and boy. And yes, they knew I was a single mum with cancer when they did this to me).

If you deal with them and it is going wrong, then they are also very aggressive on the phone when you try and chat to them. Instead of listening to reasonable problems presented calmly, they start to abuse and accuse you of being responsible, not them. My very reasonable concerns were;
- Shallow and miss aligned foundations
- no screed or insulation
- they didn’t sort out the drains and rodding point before pouring concrete?!
- the wall was bowing already
- Their patio doors were inserted too far back to open properly
- the roof was not attached to the wall and the rafters were not securely attached to each other in the middle
- they didn’t know how to tie in the roof to the existing roof in general
- They said the project would last two weeks from start to finish, it’s been TWO YEARS for a 6x4 meter extension (I’m not kidding…they literally were on site for 4 days in a year)

Please also note that both Martin and Chris -the company owner and director - have changed their numbers. They no longer receive calls.

They have made my life and my 4 year olds life hell. And that’s saying something as I’m recovering from cancer. I’m not sure what was worse; Castle or chemo! They are that evil.

I it had new doors and windows fitted on…

I had new doors and windows fitted on 20th May 2021 nearly 2 years later I am still waiting for my issues to be sorted I can't even count the times I've phoned these people
they book me in and never turn up PEOPLE PLEASE USE A PROPER WINDOW COMPANY I was pestered by Martin for payment before my windows were finished you just get told lots of lies and rubbish
absolute disgusting company BEWARE the date of experience only goes back to 2022 mine was 2021

Warning, stay away from castle home renovations

Really poor follow up office service. We had a number of issues during the fitting of which most were resolved over 2 months, now we are 4 months post fitting and we still have a scratched window that needs replacing. We were assured that by paying the balance the company would not ignore us, but 4 messages left over the last 4 weeks and zero response from castle home renovations is an answer in itself. If we can save anyone from the trauma of using their hard earned life savings to improve their home, please heed our warning and stay away from castle home renovations

I’m surprised at some of the reviews as…

I’m surprised at some of the reviews as I have found the company to be very good at what they do. I had two jobs done, windows and doors first and it was smooth going and looks lovely. We then had the facias and guttering done to match the windows and again no fuss or issues. I highly recommend them

I highly recommend Castle Renovations…

I highly recommend Castle Renovations as a very professional, trustworthy company with friendly and knowledgeable employees. I had all windows replaced in my home and a new front door fitted.
The process from start to finish was made stress free and I was kept up to date with time lines for work beginning and being completed etc.
Martin was also happy to answer a few questions I had regarding paperwork and always called back promptly if he missed my call.
The old windows/door being removed and new ones fitted was completed with very minimal mess which I was pleasantly surprised about and they are secure and look great. I have had no problems with them and my house has been noticeably warmer during the winter months.
Paul and Martin are personable and helpful and I definitely recommend this company to anyone having work done on their property.

Updating the Energy Efficiency and Look of our Windows

We had five windows and a back door fitted in September 2022. The sales meeting was a pleasure. The sales person listened to what we wanted to achieve, described the product features succinctly and gave us a competitive quote with no negotiating tricks or pressure to sign-up on the day. The fitters were polite, efficient and left our home clean and tidy. At the time of writing we have had the windows and door for nearly four months, through a very cold spell and some wet and windy weather. We are pleased with their efficiency and the look. I would have given Castle 4.5 stars if I could have entered a half star. The only reason I couldn't give them 5 stars is that one of the fitters was a bit too enthusiastic when knocking out the old window in our bedroom, causing a plaster crack three quarters of the way down the recces behind the curtain. I would use Castle again. Far better approach to business than the four other quotes we obtained.

Disaster…

I would give it a zero based on my experience with this company they were only asked to replace my front door all the problems I've suffered from them and they still haven't finished the contract 5 months later it's still incomplete. Don't go anywhere near them.
