5* status over legal obligations
I am updating this review to reflect the merchant’s response to a legitimate dispute regarding a defective, non-conforming product (Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight, 2019 batch).
Despite receiving a bottle with a snapped seal and a certain percentage of a volume deficiency ( not as advertised ), the owner attempted to dismiss these critical defects as "normal" using her 15 years of experience as a "perfume lover" to patronize my concerns with the quality of the product. It is highly unprofessional to suggest that a customer’s observations are invalid simply because the merchant claims "expert" status. This snobbery does not override Dutch Consumer Law (Art. 7:17 BW).
When I held my ground using my own 20 years of professional experience in quality control - supplier quality, and batch-code verification, the merchant’s tone shifted. She suddenly introduced her family situation and childcare schedule as a defense, which is entirely irrelevant to a formal business dispute.
Most concerning was the explicit attempt at review blackmail. I was told in writing that the merchant would "refuse all solutions" unless I removed this 1-star review. My legal Right of Withdrawal is unconditional and cannot be used as a bargaining chip. Furthermore, the merchant engaged in a transparent "language powerplay," communicating only in Dutch and pretending to "misunderstand" my repeated, clear requests for a prepaid return label - that I requested in her language of choice- Dutch, in every single email.
The item has now been returned via a tracked and time-stamped process, I have a verification of seller's statement to the batch integrity pending with the manufacturer ( Viktor and Rolf ). I am currently awaiting a full refund of €125. Consumers should be wary: this is a business that prioritizes its "5-star image" over legal obligations and product authenticity.
