They have some very pretty apartments, but be aware that it might not be as cheap as it originally looks. In my case, after moving in in March, the increased my rent in July and made me pay the rent increase for the previous four months backwards as well. (This however, as has been explained to me know, is perfectly legal.)
After living in the apartment for 11 months I moved out again. I was told by the move-out inspector that "I cleaned very well", but they will charge me 7k dkk for redoing floor and walls, because that is "standard procedure" and they always do that. (Update: we now agreed that I will only pay for the walls.)
Based on the very helpful response I have received from CEJ to this entry (they also called me), i will increase my initial rating.

At the beginning it was a really nice place to live at...but your car and other stuff in the building gets damaged without consequences, and your stuff quickly gets stolen once you turn around. It is very unfortunate that the camera footage never can be checked and these things are just continue happening.

Terrible service. We had extreme issues in our property and CEJ did a disappearing act. We are 4 weeks in and totally flooded; we are paying 2x rent as we have had to move out. Avoid at all costs.

They are ignoring any calls/emails for an extreme leak for over 3 months - do NOT bother with this company. - also super concerning that somehow the average rating is well over 3 stars, I think a lot of fake reviews here too to bring the average up

The CEJ team has been the best and working with them was a delight!
As an expat who recently moved to Copenhagen, I found everyone at CEJ (especially Rasmus and Peter) to be very understanding, patient, and supportive. They made it really smooth to work through and finalise all the details. They answered all my questions and concerns in a timely manner, were very easy to communicate with, and made the experience of landing a home such a breeze!
To the CEJ team, a huge thank you for helping me find my new home in Copenhagen :)

Don't believe the "5 star" reviews. The company will take all of your deposit money regardless of the state of the apartment.
@CEJ what do you offer for those 5-star reviews?

I am really disappointed with CEJ, as I don't understand Danish and their contact in Danish, I have translated as much as I can, but they put 1 year lease period in the contract somewhere. I have double-checked the termination period on call and before leasing and they told me 3 months only. I wanted to leave the apartment earlier with 3 months' notice no was I have to move out to a new city due to new job but I have to live at least 9 months in the apartment before giving them a notice of 3 months. My new job is 130kms away from Aarhus where I have a apartment with CEJ and unable to leave for next 9 months further. Additionally, they have pathetic service and bad building quality of material they have used in the building. Very slow in respond to emails and calls if you have problem. I will never sign a lease with them and also suggest to not to sign a lease with them if possible. Most important, get a prof in email of everything otherwise they will never agree what they commit on call or in person.

Dear CEJ,
I have lived in the same apartment for 6 years and 6 months and overall, I cannot complain. However, I do have concerns about how CEJ is conducting business in bad faith.
My complaints are as follows:
1. The contract stipulates that the apartment should be returned newly refurbished. However, according to the law, this cannot be requested after July 1st, 2015. As my contract was signed in September 2016, I will be asking the rent board to flag this as illegal and apply the law retroactively.
2. The inspector lied to me and my wife. We verbally agreed on a plan of action, but the written report stated something else. Despite asking the inspector twice for clarification before signing the report, he did not provide us with the correct information in writing. This type of behavior is unacceptable, and I will be bringing it to the board's attention. I also hope to take legal action against the inspector.
3. As a goodwill gesture, we left all the appliances in the apartment as they were in good working order, as I maintained them during almost 7 years. It seems wasteful to replace them unnecessarily. Initially, I did not ask for compensation, but considering points 1 and 2, I will now be requesting it.
4. You have kept a deposit for water and heating for the next 6 months, even though we no longer live at the address. I do not see why we should have to pay for something we are not using. This is your responsibility, not mine.
Despite numerous emails between myself, the inspector, his leader, and the administrator, none of my complaints have been taken into consideration.
LLO is taking over, and the case will be brought to the rent board. There is no way to go back or settle. That train has already left the station. We will let the law, and the court decide.
Every lie CEJ tells incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later, the debt is paid.
For tenants who are leaving the apartment, I encourage you to:
1. Do not sign the eviction form.
2. Take pictures and videos of the apartment.
3. Record the conversation with the inspector.
4. If you are not happy with the settlement from CEJ, go to llo (dot) dk, create an account, pay the membership, and open a case against CEJ.
I wish you all the best!

1. Undlad at underskrive opsigelsesformularen.
2. Tag billeder og videoer af lejligheden.
3. Optag samtalen med inspektøren.
4. Hvis du ikke er tilfreds med afgørelsen fra CEJ, gå til llo (dot) dk, opret en konto, betal medlemskabet og åbn en sag mod CEJ.
Jeg ønsker dig alt det bedste!

I rented an apartment from them during several months and my experience was very good, even during que move out. They helped quickly every time I needed help, and they found a new tenant before my notice period so I could leave earlier - highly appreciated!

Reported a broken balcony door (open to the outside, cold air and rain coming in when closed) during the move-in inspection. Here we are after 5 months of autumn and winter and the door is being installed today, this is unacceptable. I requested a rent decrease during this period due to the discomfort and increased heating costs but was told to just tape up the crack in the door, because that is what I'm paying 14k/month for. 5 months of a taped up balcony door which needs to be re-taped every time you use it.. All the work done on this like carpenters examining the door or ordering a new door was done AFTER we have emailed and called to make sure something was happening. I'm fully expecting to get none of our deposit back even though we have only lived there since August and we clean every other day.
Another CEJ highlight was sending an electrician when I reported that the coaxial data plug in the living room was not connected (which it was not, it's just a coax-plug with no cable behind it, verified by the electrician). Then they claim this is an internet issue, even though the issue is with the cables in the walls which has nothing to do with the internet. "Call TDC" they said. What TDC should do to the cables in my apartment walls they have nothing to do with I don't know. Anyway, the electrician shrugged and said he couldn't do anything and then I get a bill in the mail for 800 DKK added to my rent because CEJ sent the wrong handyman and somehow still think this is an internet issue due to a lack of technical knowledge. Then when I try to explain this and how it is strange that I should have to pay this bill I get _threatened with eviction_! Thanks, fantastic service. I will be posting another review when we have moved out and from the other reviews here I'm fully expecting that to be another 1 star experience where they will claim water damage or something from the broken door and I'm left standing there with the bill.
Response:
My complaint isn't about 2M ordering the wrong handyman, that should be apparent by the things I list in the complaint which are much, much worse.
It was the inaction of CEJ in response to our reported faults which led to the door taking this long to replace. It wasn't 2M who threatened to evict me and my pregnant wife because of a lack of knowledge about the problem when we questioned if we should pay an invoice for something we A) hadn't ordered and B) should not have to pay for according to the contract. I didn't even mention in my review the other issues we reported on the moving in report which were noted as things that would be fixed. We contacted CEJ after MONTHS and asked what was going on, then the problem was addressed incorrectly by sending us the wrong plastic brackets for radiators, then we were just flat out told that this would not be fixed until we move out regardless of what the move-in report said.
For faults which were reported IN AUGUST!
Why was the door ordered in mid December? Why not in August when the problem was reported? Why was no carpenter sent to do anything unless we called and asked what was going on after months of hearing nothing?
You keep saying this is 2M:s responsibility but last I checked you were the administrators of the property whereas 2M does what you tell them to do.
"Unfortunately, your landlord does not supply the antenna for the apartment."
What does this mean? Are the cables in the walls not owned by CEJ? Can I take them all with me when I move? I would expect an apartment this expensive to have actual functioning plugs coming out of the walls, not fake sockets with no cable behind them. I'm not sure who you suggest I should have contacted about this..

Awful customer service. A couple of days ago I got a call from a CEJ employee telling me I hadn't paid a bill for approx 3000 kroner. I was in the middle of another conversation and did not have time to talk. (Normally it is polite to ask if the person you are calling has a few moments to talk). So I asked if he could call me back a few minutes later. He didn't, but instead sent me the bill that he called about, by email, the day after.
I have just moved to a house I bought in October and I received a bill from CEJ for their services for November. Which was paid immediately when I received it. What I had not received was the bill for October.
I called back the biller and original caller Kasper, as I was a little surprised to have been called about a bill I had never received and just wanted to understand what it was for. To be honest I was sceptical after the initial call that the guy wasn't a scammer with how he spoke. Kasper informed me that I had in fact received the bill and basically insinuated that I just did not want to pay or was somehow dodging paying. When I informed him that I had not received the bill, either in the post or on email. He again told me that I had, and now informed me that there was to be a gebyr on top. It was nice of Kasper to know things about me that I didn't, for example when and how I received something, that I didn't know myself. I asked him to provide me with info about when the bill was originally sent. Having just moved it is possible it never made it into the postbox that didn't have my name on it yet, and also to resend any email reminders which were supposedly sent to both me and my partner. Neither of which he could do.
Kasper was then nice enough to tell me that I will not have to pay a gebyr for the bill I never received, but did remind me like he was my daddy that I should sign up for Betalingsservice. I guess to ensure that CEJ next time can just take money from me, or add on charges without actually ever sending a bill for me to see what I should pay for. I do wonder though, how I should have signed up for betalingsservice for an invisible bill.
Overall I do not appreciate being called by a jumped up collector out of the blue, whose immediate approach is to accuse me of not paying bills that I have never received. Especially when he could provide no proof that I had been billed on both post and email.
Perhaps some retraining in how to approach your customers might help.
I am an international student starting 2 year master degree program at KU in September. I will not be arriving in Copenhagen until just before the start of my studies as I am working for the summer.
The search for student housing in Denmark is a full-time endeavor for anyone, never mind trying to do it while working full-time thousands of miles away in a different country. I signed up for many different student housing sites and placed on years long waitlists. One site I reached out to advised they no longer managed one of the student housing sites and put me in touch with Peter at CEJ. Peter was wonderful. Patient, kind, and caring and I now have an apartment to move into when I arrive. Emma was responsible for drafting the lease and she was also very easy to contact and work with.
Thank you!

Wish I could give a 0, they definitely dont even deserve a 1 star.
This company is completely after you money and thats all. Don't ever rent from them EVER! Raising the prises TWO times a year when your contract says one. Making you pay extra water and el even when you're moved out.
Please stay away from their apartments in Ørestad. Their basements construction is build so bad there been 2 massive floods while I've been there, and the company wont replace any of the stuff that would be damaged. Also the apartments are full of insects, that they tried to remove one time (I can tell you, it didn't work).
These company with their people are specialized to take advantage of the awful renting laws in Denmark. For your own sake don't get involved with them.
I will not name drop but the person in charge of the apartments in Ørestad is also impossible to get a hold of. The person is never around and takes weeks to reply to important emails (unless its time to pay some ridiculous bill).
Update: over a year after I moved out and this company is still pestering me. Calling me asking me to pay a ridiculous bill. It's been 15 months since I left their awful apartment, and I still have to deal with their crap.
Be safe, and stay away!

Great experience as a tenant in CEJ apartment in Copenhagen S; we lived there for around 3.5 years. From open house to view the apartment, keys collection, quick response to fix any building-related issue (not many) to the final inspection, everything was smooth. Most of our communication was with Jeanette L S, who was also very prompt in her response to us. Definitely recommended for a peaceful rental experience. Thanks CEJ and team!
