I've been using cellar rats for about 6 months now. Always great products with a luxury feel to the packaging. I look forward to my delivery each month to see what different wines I can taste. Wo... See more

A JOKE OF A COMPANY

I still haven't been able to cancel my subscription, just a warning - DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE! I have no words except for the email i sent the support team...

Hello,

I hope this email finds you well, I am contacting you to cancel my subscription as I am unsatisfied with my purchase. Two of my bottles were definitely gone off and also 1 came smashed and leaking.

I followed the instructions on your website and called the number, I was on hold for two hours, TWO HOURS without anyone picking up the phone. See attachment for proof, what a joke.

If this is a tactic to prevent people from unsubscribing then it is disgustingly obvious and borderline criminal.Upon googling Cellar Rats, TrustPilot was the first result after your website, looking at the reviews it seems everyone has had the same experience with out of date wine, smashed bottles and being on hold for hours. I wish I’d seen this before placing an order.

This is ridiculous and only a matter of time before you get sued, especially considering how flimsy your terms and conditions are, and how badly written, or should I say ‘copy and pasted’ . Clearly no sane person wrote them and if they did I think they would be too embarrassed to admit it.

Please cancel my subscription immediately or I will pursue legal action.

Avoid at all costs

Do not waste your time, money, or effort with this company.

I ordered six ‘free’ samples through the Three+ app and paid for delivery, only to immediately receive an email informing me that I had been subscribed to their service and that the package will be delayed.

I’ve made several attempts to contact them: sent emails with no response, and spent over an hour and a half on hold today, after waiting 45 minutes yesterday, just to cancel the subscription.

Keep in mind, you can’t cancel online—the only option is by phone, but they don’t answer.

In the end, I had to contact my bank to block any future payments.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - SCAM ARTISTS

What an absolutely appalling SCAM of a business. I placed an order in July, despite seeing mixed reviews, I thought I’d give them a shot. Fast forward 3/4 months almost and my money has been taken but still to receive any wine! This in my eyes, is a fraudulent company and despite call after call, email after email asking for (initially) an update on my order, help to progress my complaint and then asking for a refund - there has not been a single response from Cellar Rats. WHERE IS YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE?! I have asked multiple times for support from the team and a refund and received zilch. Avoid at all costs, what an absolutely abysmal company - don’t be scammed, it’s a complete waste of your money.

Avoid Cellar Rats

1) The wine is rank. Honestly, don't bother
2) The wine is super expensive, £34.99 for 6 single glass sized bottles
3) You cannot cancel online despite what they state when you sign up. You have to call during office hours.... to a line that no one answers.

My top tip is you are caught in this is
a) contact your bank and ask them to stop authorising the recurring card payment
b) tip whatever wine they have sent you down the sink and nip to Sainsbury's for a decent bottle
c) naked wines is a decent subscription service

Another 2 weeks has passed and still no confirmation of cancellation. Finally spoke to someone (emails remain unanswered) and you HAVE to cancel by phone . Hung on for over an hour, person I spoke to just couldn't wait to get me off the call "yes yes i will cancel and confirm" the put the phone down on me - didn't seem interested in taking details and surprise surprise 2 weeks later and still no confirmation.

Always delivered on time

Always delivered on time. Lovely wine that i would otherwise not be able to taste, with the great variety from all over the globe, to the sheer price of tasting all these international wines. Cracking stuff.

I was so excited when I received my first box. The packaging, the idea.
I ordered 2 of each wine (red, white and rose).
Both reds had fermented again in the bottle and were undrinkable. Had to be thrown away.
The 2 rosés were ok. 1 white was ok, the other less so.
Wouldn’t order again.
Tbh I didn’t even realise I had a subscription as I signed up for the first box through 3. That seems a bit dodgy. And you can’t cancel via the website but have to call.

Terrible wine

Terrible wine, genuinely terrible.
Fizzy wine, watery wine, sour wine. Broken bottles.
Terrible customer service, charged when they shouldn’t have.
Won’t let you cancel.

Awful experience

Awful experience, I purchased a free tasting box which I just had to pay postage. I received very little correspondence after I paid for the taster box. After it hadn’t arrived within the 5 days it was promised I emailed customer services who said it had been delayed. I emailed a further 2 times when it still had not arrived a month later with no response. I didn’t realise I had signed up to a monthly plan (partly my fault) and a charge was taken out of my account. I tried to cancel over email with again no response. When I called customer services to explain what had happened and to hopefully finally cancel my subscription the lady at the end of the phone was so uninterested in my complaints, she did cancel my subscription but was quite rude. The wine itself is of poor quality and some of it has been off. Would highly NOT recommend.

These rats still carry the plague

Took 3 up on their offer of a free box of wine, sounded great.

The order "arrived" 12 days after completing signup with no communication, multiple bottles leaking and one broken. Horrendously poor packaging. Royal Mail informed me they couldn't hand it over due to the damage and that they'd be informing Cellar Rats.

I was on the phone to cancel for over an hour when I decided to check here to see what others were saying and realised I was one of the vast majority with big problems. Put the phone down immediately as multiple others have said it's a premium number.

Tried to contact via email, Instagram and Twitter. No response.

Let's be clear - this is a scam. They will send you a product (most of the time anyway, based on these reviews) but it will be late, with no communication on delivery. It will likely arrive damaged. If it doesn't, the wine itself will be fermenting, gone-off and undrinkable due to their cheap wine and disgusting decanting and poor packaging. If you want to cancel via their website as their terms state you can - you cannot. They dangle multiple perks in the process to try and get you to stay (£5 off, then £10 off, then £20 off with only one click separating these - absolutely desperate and gross tactics) and past that they then make you call a premium number where they'll keep you on hold for well over an hour, costing you even more money.

Scam from start to finish. Much like real rats, avoid like the plague.

I've also been in touch with 3 to let them know how poor this service is and how badly it reflects upon them, and with the relevant authorities as beyond just being incredibly poor service, they break UK law.

Stay away

Scam company. You have to call them to cancel the subscription. One of the bottles came smashed. Two other bottles were fermented. The whole subscription in a nutshell: you pay £35 for six 0.25l bottles of cheap quality wine. You can get a whole 0.75l bottle for £5 in your local COOP and you won’t taste a difference. After referring someone you can’t redeem your reward as ALL of the wine bottles are unavailable (very suspicious).
