If you’re a new start up, I would highly recommend avoiding central car auctions. Basically ruining a small start up business. I’ve bought 5 cars and 3 of which have been knackered, MINI COOPER D - timing chain gone £1200 to repair, FORD FIESTA - Gearbox, turbo & clutch - £1000, and nothing about these issues in the inspection reports. I have just bought a Renault Clio which has another rattling timing chain but I missed this as the writing is so small you can’t see it.

I WOULD AVOID UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE MONEY ON CARS. Zero support from the Stafford branch, nothing done on fees or the costs. Just say (you should have come into the office if there was a problem) but then just expect you to pay for it anyway so they can run it back through and auction and charge you the difference if it goes for less.

Very poor customer service for private…

Very poor customer service for private buyers. In fact worse than useless. I cannot recommend this company for private sellers. The deterioration in customer focus may be related to the Arnold Clarke takeover still bedding in but whatever the cause this is a company to be avoided if you actually want to sell a car
Judge for yourself......
1. I ring for help selling a private car at auction at around 10.30am on 18.03.2024.
2. I am told that things have changed since the Arnold Clark takeover and someone will need to call me back
3. I try to nail down when someone is likely to call me back because (like everyone else) I do not have all day to sit around waiting for a call from Central Car Auctions on what should be a simple little matter of auctioning a car.
4. I am told probably before lunch
5. At 1.35pm I send a message to customer support saying:
"I called about selling this car over three hours ago. I was told someone would ring back. Not happened.
I am relaxed if you don't want to deal with private sellers or, if you don't want to deal in old diesels. You only have to say that so we are clear.
But not calling for over three hours really does not inspire confidence."
6. I got an automated response referring me to "support at centralcarauctions.com"
who I thought I had just emailed :-(
7. At the time of writing over 24 hours later nobody has taken any further action on my initial call or my follow up request for help

There is obviously something not quite right for private sellers at Central Car Auctions. They may be too busy with trade buyers or sellers or they may be too busy sending emails to themselves to bother with the real world.

Who knows. Be very careful is my advice. Because if there is zero customer focus at the front end my view is it would be a exceedingly high risk venture to try and auction a car and expect to get paid out.....

I’m a small dealer

I’m a small dealer, sometimes only I’m buying cars from CCA , reason, their cars are poorly described. Last week I bought a car,
Said brakes need attention, fair enough-
Car dropped off.
They forgot to mention
EML ON ( THEY SAYING, THEY MENTIONED, IVE WINNING BID PHOTO, NOTHING SAYS)
ENGINE CUT OFF WHEN IDLING
VERY SQUEAKY NOISE
I think online auctions made the
Auction houses rich, small dealers are
The victims of these people.
Honesty failed in front of money..

What a shambles!

This is an interesting organisation...
No reviews on here -interesting...
So yesterday I drive to the auction house looking to see some cars and get a feel for how it all works.

I arrived at the gate to be tersely told,'we're closed today'. On the way out I spotted the big sign at the gate clearly showing Thursday opening times. The main reason for my visit was the online listing of cars for sale runs to many pages and has limited filters and cannot be downloaded. Pretty unhelpful, in fact pretty impractical altogether, unless you have a spare hour or two.
So as I was leaving yesterday the security guard told me that the auction house was open tomorrow...

So today I return, following a 16 mile train journey, having checked the company website where no opening times are listed. On arrival at the gate a different security guard informs me that the site is not open to the Public. Another wasted journey, and waste of my time.
What a shambles!
Conclusion: this company doesn't care about private buyers. So like all sensible customers I'm voting with my feet-and won't be back.
