Stay away from Centrum Auto

I left my car at Centrum Auto in Roskilde to change the front tires and the breaks 29 August. I picked the car up 31 August. That day I started to hear a wierd sound, that I haven’t had before the service.
The sound came from the front and it got worse and louder and the car started to vibrate too, so I went back to talk to them. We had a test drive together and they said they could hear it. I told them that this specific sound came after I picked my car up 31 August.
They told me it’s the wheel bearing and that they can fix it. They said I can come in on Friday 7 October, which I did.
I didn’t get information about any cost, just that they will fix the sound which appeared after the initial work they did on the car. I was supposed to be contacted when it was fixed.

I got a text message later that same day saying “The car is ready for pickup”. At that time they already closed and so I picked up the car and drove home.

5 days later I received an invoice which made me wonder if it was sent to the wrong person, because the invoice included not only for the service for What he said he would fix, but also a number of weird charges and services among others - “a lightbulb switch” (which was perfectly fine when I delivered the car), “battery charge”, and charges for a use of “special tools”. None of these we services were agreed beforehand and I ended up paying an additional 2,000 DKK for something that was not an issue before I first left my car there.

I never got a price offer and I definitively didn’t approve any of the services listed in the invoice that came through 5 days after I picked up my car!

I wouldn’t recommend anyone leaving their car at Centrum Auto! If you do - be prepared to receive an invoice for extra services that you’ve never asked for or were informed about!!!

Hi sofie!

We are sad to read this review of our company, but we are writing here to tell our side of this story.

When you came to us the first time, you wanted an offer for a new set of tires for your car. We took a quick look at them and told you that you only needed 2 new tires. The tires were in need of change due noise and they were worn down and the other 2 you cloud drive on with.
We gave you an offer for 2 new tires and told you that we needed to buy them a few days ahead because there was some delivery time on them. You booked an appointment on the 29 of august.
When you came on the 29 of august you wanted a price on new breaks in the front +painted the front and rear bumpers. You wanted the offer on the breaks because you have in the meantime visited a different shop that told you that you needed a brake change in the front.
We looked at the things and gave you an offer that you accepted.
When you came to pick up the car, you got the invoice, paid it and got your keys.
After a few days after you came back and complained about a noise coming from the front of the car, we took a quick test drive together and I came to the conclusion that one of the front wheel bearings were making the noise that you and I cloud hear. The noise didn’t come from the parts of the car that I previous have worked on that was the breaks and 2 tires. And the reason that you didn’t hear that noise before was due to the worn and old tires.
You asked me to fix it and we booked a new appointment to get that fixed. You didn’t ask for a price before we got started or anything.

And now to the invoice that you have received for the work on your wheel bearing.
The services that you have paid fore are
1 lightbulb switch, when we got the car came in, one of the lights wasn’t working, so we changed it- so the car was road legal when it left the shop
2. special tool- that tool was are using to press the old bearing out of the hub and put the new bearing back into place.
3. maintenance charger- are we using on all cars that are coming to the shop and are getting worked on.

When you got your car again, we asked for your email, so we cloud send you an invoice there. So, we are a bit confused about this review here. And even more about you not knowing about you have to pay for the work we have been doing on your car. But seen in hindsight we should have send you a price before we got started so this didn’t happen.

And again, we are sad to read this here, and the things you have written to us in an email.
But sometime a costumer and a shop cannot agree on some things. this is not how all of our other customers have seen or heard about us before.

If there is anything we can do for you, you now where we are and we will send you a price, before we are staring on the job!

Best regards
