Reviewing SquareOne branch

Paperbacks and softcovers are often damaged (especially the corners); Moreover, the nonstop, instore music is often played too loud for comfortable perusal!!

Freddy the Flyer.

Just read Freddy the Flyer and really enjoyed it. Certainly will spark interest in flying for young folks. Loved the format, a very easy read that flowed well and was very unique. Fred is an inspiration !

BEWARE of stolen gift card data!

BEWARE: Gift cards credentials can be stolen and you may never get your money back!

I was gifted a gift card to this store and saved it for later use. When I finally tried to redeem it, I was shocked to find the balance had already been used, at a location I’ve never even been to. The physical card was in my home the entire time, and I never shared the PIN or card details with anyone.

I reached out to customer service expecting help, but they were completely unhelpful and showed no interest in investigating what was clearly a case of fraud. No support, no resolution, and no accountability.

This was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. If you’re considering buying or using a gift card here, think twice. You may end up losing your money with no recourse.

From what I see in the other reviews, this is not the first time when it is happening.

Oh man, this service is crap

Oh man, I give up on Chapters/Indigo. Completely useless. Just the facts.

Order one book 2 weeks ago.
Was given an approximate date for delivery 2 weeks
No notice from Chapters Indigo and the online chat is useless
I ordered the book from Amazon.ca and got it next day
Which service would you ever use?

Purchased $150 in books and a record…

Purchased $150 in books and a record for a birthday gift.
Got all three of them a few days before the birthday and the one important piece has the corners smashed in.
Reached out to customer service. They can send a replacement or refund BUT FIRST they need to get the one back that I have.
I have three days to have this gift for a birthday so your solutions are useless.
Although talking about the book and the smashed in corners for $50 will be a good topic to speak about at the party!

Terrible wait times for current books

Two books that were recently nominated for Canada Reads. One is a 2 week wait, the other a 5 week wait. Both on Amazon for the same price with next day delivery. I want to shop at Canadian retailers but you have to make it a little easier!

Is it actually possible to redeem "plum points"?

AI assistant is moronic (big surprise). Told me I could redeem my points at the "payment and rewards" section but no such section appears to exist. Called the phone number but never got through to a person--just kept waiting and waiting.

The Death of Indigo: the worst delivery service on earth?

Indigo should search their shelves for a book on the Pony Express and take away some important lessons on how to run a business.
○ laughable customer service
○ attempted to deliver Christmas night after the delivery window
○ rather than using the intercom, a man phoned me directly from his personal phone an hour later
○ my books were added back into the delivery pool but still haven't been slated for delivery
○ ordered on the 18th of December and here I am without my books on December 29th
○ "might be delivered within the next 3 days, if not call us back"
○ the chat program online serves only to decrease my time on earth due to stroke or heart attack
○ overall, maybe the worst delivery service ever.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. I won’t shop there again. After I bought a 25$ magazine (a review of the news - labelled edition 2024) and opened it to find out it was about the news of 2023, I returned it to the store to get my money back, but they refused.
This magazine shouldn’t even be on the shelfs!
I spent 100$ that day, but that is the last of my money they will see.

I'd give it it a zero if I could

I'd give it it a zero if I could - this is single handedly one of the most frustrating experiences on a website I have ever had. I cannot actually make an order despite trying multiple different cards - it locks at the confirm purchase screen. If there are errors with anything, it is impossible to see, I went back to look at one page and there was a hidden message. The site is so poorly designed and there is zero customer support. With the Canada Post strike, and as someone living overseas, I need to buy my presents direct from a retailer and you've made it impossible for me to do so on your site - I'm going to have to go elsewhere.

Thanks for nothing

Thanks for nothing. You have always been my go to store for books for my kids but no more. I preordered a Christmas present for my son in July and you just shipped it today via Canada post who is on strike so it will be many months more before I receive this parcel, which I will be returning!! Worst customer service ever!!!! Editing to add you tried telling me there was nothing you could do as Canada post already had my parcel as of Dec 2, and we know that isn’t true because they’re on strike and not taking parcels but then you further went on to tell me absolutely no one else delivers to where I live which is also untrue as I have been using 4 different couriers, so you also treat your customers like idiots.

Excellent Representation of Indigo Books

Store 00280

Bright, Personable and filled with knowledge of her job, this lady went the extra mile to make sure I got the gift I wanted, adding her
own opinion of what a girl 8 -10 might appreciate. I noticed the other customer she was helping was also asking questions and receiving good, helpful answers in a way that made her smile as well. This is what Customer Service should be. And I am delighted and hope to encounter this very professional, knowledgeable.young lady again, when I shop at Indigo at Bloor + Yonge. Kudos. The knowledge can be taught, but not so much the attitude. She is a treasure, I hope Indigo realizes this and rewards appropriately. ❤️

remarkable customer service

Today at the Indigo in Milton, On I had a remarkably kind and knowledgeable gentlemen talk to me. I wasn’t bombareded with questions or pressured into being talked to, we had a nice and respectful conversation about what books we found enjoyable and fun. We both started talking about graphic novels like DC comics, since that’s what I was looking for. Little did I know Scott had great knowledge of DC and coached me to buying a book I have never heard of (The Human Target by Tom King). He told me about it and I was sold, he not only educated me but made me excited to read, not to mention he created a sale for Indigo. After that we continued to talk about future stories I was curious about and I felt I had trust in someone about topics I don’t know many people know. Scott provided me with a ton of great future books and an engaging and informative conversation about one of my favourite things, comics/books. Scott was working at the Milton indigo today but i heard from the cashier he typically works at the Cambridge, ON location. If I were his employer or someone with authority I would reward this gentleman and continue to look over his career with great interest in the company. I willing him be returning and hoping to bump into him again. Thanks again Scott!

They used to match amazons prices

They used to match amazons prices, used to have an amazing website that included gifts. Now the website is absolute garbage, very basic, high prices, and they no longer match amazons prices. I Have a library and used to buy from Chapters Canada, but Amazon is WAY cheaper.

Beware

Beware that this book store blocks all the negative reviews, so you can not trust any books reviews on line, since they only care about their book sales, therefor their book reviews are false.
I tried to complain number of times, but they give me nonsense excuses.
Unfortunately, it is the only book store left in Montreal, so I still have to get my books, but I can not trust any reviews, and service became really bad.

So pissed right now

So pissed right now. Ok I know partially my fault. Bought a robe back in November as an xmas present. $125 bought one of their indigo bags. Couldn't make it home for xmas. Left in my car in the bag. My fault. What I'm pissed about is the bag got wet and the black handles on the bags - color leaked all over the white robe. It is completely useless and cannot be given as a gift. Tell your bag manufacturer to use non transferable ink

Read this review before you order online!

Ordered a book online with my gift card to be delivered to the store. Received email notification that it was enroute to the store. Waited 2 weeks didn’t receive any notification so I went to the store to check why it was taking so long. When I got there they said the order was canceled. I was confused and wondering why they would cancel it when I had already paid ?? No notification by them that they canceled my order. No notification that the book was ready for pickup in the store! When I wrote to customer service online about my issue they responded right away telling me they canceled it because I only had 7 days to pick it up and I told them that I never received a pick-up notification (which my receipt said they would do once my book was delivered). I asked for a refund and they said they’d send me an e-gift card for the value I spent on the book. Didn’t receive it so I let them know and they said they’d resend but I still haven’t received it! They have the WORSE online ordering system ever! Didn’t inform me my book was ready for pick up AND didn’t inform me that they canceled it! I’m still waiting for my refund!!!

I ordered a few items online

I ordered a few items online, and apparently the items were out of stock, but the transaction went through. I was waiting for the items to get shipped, but they never arrived. I had to check for delivery updates. I finally wrote an email to Indigo to find out that my items were not available. They did not take the initiative to notify me of such issue. It was a huge disappointment! The availability of items should reflect their actual inventory.
