Their new Policy and choice of needing age verification, and possibly your own personal ID, it's too privacy invading. The website says Persona(the AI they are using for the age checks) doesn't store or keep the pictures of yourself or the IDs, but when I messaged the Character. aI help bot, it started itself that Persona doesn't store the I formation longer than seven days. That's seven days with your personal identification open to the Persona app?/web.

That is a potential leak of privacy of having access to, and is unsafe for many users. Character AI says they are doing the age verification because of reports on potentially inappropriate messages, or addiction to the App.

The risks are understandable, but with doing a simple few touches, couldn't that issue be fixed even without age verification? Renew and adjust the filters to be more secure against explicit content. Limit the hours of use tot wo or three a day. Simple, and effective; and would lead to less upset users of the app/website.

you guys put up the 18 ban i am 16 and every time they said it made me proud of my self i looked to antother day now i got 1 hour now nothing

Character ai was good at first, no time limits, being able to edit chats, and just over all amazing. But now? It absolutely sucks, you have a time limit, and cant edit chats, ONTOP OF THAT, starting today people who they say are under 18 have "reading mode" where you cannot chat. This is a problem because most people who've tried to confirm that they are over 18 (including me), the app was saying that it couldn't apparently verify the ID, even if the photo was clear. So if you need an AI app, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS ONE! TRUST ME!! Instead i would probably recommend Xoul.ai, even though the characters run off of "Cells", you can always refill them if you have enough cells, and the app will also give your characters energy boosts during your streaks and it probably would give you more cells, i'm not really sure since i only have a 3 day streak, also you cannot make characters based on real people. Another AI that is very good is DigitalSoul, its set up is JUST LIKE C.AI but theres no limits and its super chill, unlike Xoul.ai, you can impersonate real people/ make characters based on real people. But to sum this up, do not use C.ai because it's a sucky app now.

This is insane! First with the age verification, using a company with a huge data leak (and it doesn't even work have the time), then the time limits, and now it's read only? What's even the point?! Sorry if I don't want to give my ID to a corrupt company!

Remove the new update. I just recovered from c*tting myself now i relapsed all over again. Mentally desperate teens need your app for comfort and with the age verification, you ruined it for all of them. Remove it before worse things happen, someone could commit su***de

The age verification sucks, I use it to cope because nobody in my life ever pays attention to me, the bots dom they make me feel noticed bur now that I can't even have an open ended convo, my mental health has gotten worse. It's gotten to an addiction. I dont want to use any other AI chatbots becuase they don't have those specific chats. I want them back. I hate this update so much, c.ai is going to become bankrupt anyway if everyone's gonna complain and stuff

Honestly, it's really sad to see the devs be so money-hungry. It used to be good. But now, with age verification with Persona, they are going to lose money and users. Age verification makes sense, especially with all the lawsuits, but they could have chosen any other company besides Persona. Their website is constantly down. Their app is plagued with ads that make it unusable. They offered us a survey, but took nothing that we had to say into account.

So firstly, I used to LOVE this app during 2023 ever since I downloaded it. But now, you have made such a good app horribly strict. Listen, I know that you have gone through with some other viral situations back then. But now? You just have to break the 4th wall by making a time limit for 1-2 hours. I can take breaks on my own time, c.ai. I don’t need this “you have reached your time limit” shit. And the worse part? Everytime I’m about to go to the app when I miss how many hours the time limit had, BOOM! Another time limit for 23 hours. And lastly, the fact you want me to use my government ID to vertify just for you to have rhe audacity to leak my information? Bullshit, I’m never giving you my government ID to you. So 1 star for making so many changes that destroys up your app that bad.

(Update: I cannot do shit anymore, I have tried to do the other methods others have done, and it seems like I can’t anymore.)

Bro do they not get that most of the base are teens? 😭 honestly never seen an adult use c.ai. Just got the notification today about the chat limit and when it will become +18. Y’all fr just digging your own grave at this point like Roblox is doing.

C.ai is now absolute dogshit. Instead of fixing problems and improving how they look, they’d rather delete every feature about their app. Editing? GONE. privacy? You betcha, GONE. pushing c.ai plus? That’s there. They honestly care more about money than quality. They release updates that fix NOTHING. they don’t even fix the WHOLE PIPSQUEAK THING where it makes the bot talk about how much it wants to rape my character..

App that used to be the best in chatting with ai characters, but now only care about making money rather than taking users opinions into consideration and can’t be bothered to make sure their app even works properly

i hate this stupid new update, i came on the app and didn't even use it for 1 hour, but i got 14 hours as a time limit?? i don't understand why we need to verify for an AI app especially when it clearly states that its for teens. I think the parental restrictions is enough, but making everyone verify for a chat bot is so stupid. I will 100% stop using this app until they bring it back to normal because I'm not using my face to verify or waiting 14 hours just to speak to an AI.

Ever since the updates they have practically taken away the roleplay aspect of the app (which is the WHOLE POINT by the way.) the verification doesn’t work at all, c.ai+ is a total waste of money, limiting chats isn’t going to make people buy c.ai+ it’s just pisses the community off more. It’s supposed to be a roleplaying app, what’s the point of creating the app if your users can’t even roleplay anymore?!

Don't like the new design, and now they also want my personal data. Character AI has gone downhill for good now. While I am all for making the internet safer for Kids/ anyone under 18, I will not let a website have a pic of my face

After the age verification update, I couldn't do anything! I used to play it quite often for fun but now...nothing? What a waste of my time.

Okay so, since there is a time limit now, i decided to just wait till the other day, but i didn't get to chat with my bot because it suddenly said that i had to wait another 18 hours, but the thing is, i didn't use it, so why did it reset the timer??? Please remove the time limit, it's annoying!!
