Messed up 20 images, then maxxed me out!

I pay $27 for plus plan and I get that there is image limits but when they mess up soooo many basic images then they cut me due to images maxxed out is not right! I'm not at all happy. Im in the end stages of the images i need and needed 5 more. They messed up probably 20 of them. If you mess up those images its not my fault. We should not be dinged for YOUR mistake.

I got frustrated with Chatgpt like a…

I got frustrated with Chatgpt like a year ago, and left it for gemini cos Chatgpt had very restricted free plan limit and bad memory.
Gemini was working very good for me for more than a year, but after a recent upgrade I think, the quality of gemini memory has declined. You will tell it to remember a particular thing, and few time later, gemini memory will forget that critical thing and start giving wrong answers or hallucinating.

I switched back to chatgpt recently and I am impressed by it. Free limits are now much better and memory is alot better improved than before.

Also I think chatgpt's image creation is way much better than that of gemini.

This review pertains to free plans only, I havent practically used paid plans of both tho.

ChatGPT has become unreliable

ChatGPT has become unreliable — and the repeated failures have a real human cost

I have used ChatGPT extensively and, when it works well, it can be genuinely impressive. Unfortunately, my experience has increasingly been undermined by one fundamental problem: it does not reliably follow the latest instruction or maintain the correct state of a piece of work.

During longer conversations, I have repeatedly experienced ChatGPT reverting to earlier versions of work, resurrecting instructions that have already been superseded, changing things I did not ask it to change, and producing something different from what it has just told me it is going to produce.

Most frustratingly, I have sometimes had to repeat the same instruction several times before getting the requested result.

A recent example summed up the problem perfectly. I had developed a ten-slide social-media design with ChatGPT. I wanted the finished designs separated into ten individual Instagram-ready images while retaining exactly the attractive designs that had already been created.

Instead of simply taking the approved artwork as the source and separating it, ChatGPT repeatedly went back into redesigning and recreating the slides, producing inferior versions and apparently losing track of what had already been agreed.

Eventually, I gave up on the original conversation, downloaded the finished composite image, started an entirely new chat and uploaded it with essentially the same instruction.

It worked immediately.

ChatGPT separated the existing artwork into ten Instagram-ready images while retaining the designs — exactly what I had been asking it to do.

That demonstrates the problem very clearly: the task itself wasn't too difficult. The accumulated conversation appeared to become part of the problem.

For somebody who is neurodivergent, this isn't merely irritating. Having to repeatedly explain the same requirement, correct unexpected changes, check whether previous work has suddenly reappeared, and continually supervise a system that is supposed to be helping can create significant cognitive and emotional strain.

I don't expect AI to be infallible. I do expect a paid productivity tool to recognise when an instruction has been superseded, reliably use the latest approved version of a piece of work, and not require the user to start a completely new conversation simply to escape previous instructions.

I have also been using Claude, and the contrast has been noticeable. My experience there has been that new instructions are treated much more cleanly as the current instruction. That makes the interaction considerably less stressful and gives me greater confidence that what I have just requested is actually what will happen.

ChatGPT has enormous potential, and some of the work I have produced with it has been excellent. That actually makes this more disappointing.

Reliability and state management are not minor usability issues. They are fundamental requirements.

And accessibility isn't simply about providing accessibility features. A system intended to assist people needs to consider the cognitive burden created when users repeatedly have to correct the system itself.

At the moment, I cannot confidently rely on ChatGPT for complex, iterative work without constantly checking that it hasn't reverted to an earlier instruction or version.

For a productivity tool, that is a serious problem.

Useless, frustrating and a complete waste of time

ChatGPT repeatedly ignored clear, basic instructions for a simple interior-design image edit. I explained exactly what needed changing and what had to remain untouched, yet it kept producing incorrect versions.

Even when I asked it to explain its mistake, it ignored the question and generated another unwanted image. It repeatedly claimed to understand, then made the same errors again.

For a paid service, it is unreliable, ill-equipped and extraordinarily time-wasting. I would not recommend it for image editing or any task requiring precise instructions.

The image generator is terrible and…

The image generator is terrible and does not follow instructions. You charge monthly for a service then limit the amount of images someone can create. Then to make it worst, your AI is terrible in consistently following instructions. It will help you create a prompt, then won't follow it's own instructions. Your program consistently flags things that don't violate anything. It will flag images that are not sexual or violent. So what happens is you quickly reach the "limit" of images you can create and have nothing concrete or usable. Either upgrade your AI to be more accurate in its image generating or remove the image limit. Both in place are a waste of money.

Honestly if you value your mental health don't use this utterly abysmal app...For reference I actually pay.... I must be insane.
Image creation - useless, doesn't ever follow instructions no matter how explicit &specific.
As for conversation if you like what you say being reframed, hedged, softened, misrepresented and minimised... Then go for it. Thoughts and prayers for you.
Gaslighting is another speciality.
So if you really hate yourself use chatGPT.

Cant live without it.

Im surprised by the number of negative reviews here for ChatGPT. Ive been using Chat for about four months now, and I subscribe to the 20E per month plan. To put it into perspective, Id cancel my Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions before Id cancel chat as It has become that valuable to me.

This Ai has helped me in so many ways that I honestly cant remember what I did without it. I do a lot of online shopping and research, and Chat regularly saves me more money each month than the sub costs by helping me compare products, avoid poor purchases, and find better deals.
One of my hobbies is collecting plants. I currently have around 150 mainly cacti and succulents. Chat has helped me organise my collection, maintain a database of my plants using the info and photos I upload, and create beautiful display ideas using Ai-generated images. It has completely changed how I look after and display my plants.

It has also helped me redesign parts of my home. Ive painted rooms and redesigned both the interior and my back garden based on its suggestions and generated images. I have very little confidence when it comes to home décor especially what colours match the room etc , It suggests colour combinations for my fences, shed, and walls that I would never have considered, and im really happy with the end result.

I also repair PCs for friends and family. Before Chat, I could spend hours searching thru websites and forums trying to diagnose problems. Now it does the research for me and explains possible solutions clearly. One repair involved a nasty blue screen of death (BSOD) issue, which can be caused by almost anything—software, hardware, drivers, or Windows itself. Chat worked thru every possible cause with me until we eventually found the problem and fixed it. That PC would have been a write-off if it wasn't for Chat.

Probably the most impressive thing it has done for me involved a spreadsheet for my plants. I wanted an excel database with info such as watering schedules, nutrients, temp, humidity, etc for each individual plant. The spreadsheet had about 100 plants, 15 columns and roughly 1,500 cells. Filling it in manually would have taken me months of spare time because every value needs to be researched individually.
At first, Chat didnt fully understand what I was asking for. We spent a couple of hours refining the instructions until I finally found the right command. It then spent 7 mins processing and produced a fully populated spreadsheet. I was genuinely amazed by the result. What would have taken me months was completed in mins.
I do understand one of the main criticisms people have here is that chat sometimes gets things wrong. Thats true. It does. I don’t think any Ai is perfect, and if Im dealing with something important, I always verify the info using other sources. In my experience, though it gets far more right than wrong and when it does make a mistake, a follow-up question often clears things up.

I also like the fact that different Ai models have different strengths. Chat has even suggested that Google Gemini has a stronger knowledge base for certain plant-related topics, while Gemini has acknowledged that Chat is particularly good at organising info. I find this highly amusing 😂.

I recommend Chat to my family and friends because when its used properly, it can save time, save money, solve problems, and inspire me to actually do some much overdue DIY in my house. For me, it has become the most useful subscriptions I've ever paid for.

Ps. One bonus I never expected, Chat has a great sense of humour. I recently took a pic of my messy kitchen for a paint sample and uploaded to chat. Chat generated an image of my kitchen with all the mess removed, tea towel folded, removed mop and added a nice plant. Chat told me it had taken a few liberties. It called it the AI equivalent of doing a five-minute tidy-up before friends arrive 😂. I once asked it to roast me, and it did not hold back. My family and friends are still laughing at that.

WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING PAYING…

WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING PAYING FOR CHATGPT

After weeks of trying to use ChatGPT for my business, I've finally had enough.

I originally subscribed because I wanted help designing product packaging and branding. After repeated problems, I cancelled my subscription. I later decided to give it another chance, hoping the service had improved.

It hadn't.

Over the last few weeks, I've spent countless hours repeating instructions, waiting for image generation, and trying to get simple design edits completed. The AI repeatedly ignored clear instructions and generated completely different designs instead of editing the artwork I supplied.

Today's job was the final straw. What should have been a straightforward packaging edit turned into another long, frustrating session that still didn't produce the result I asked for.

As a paying customer, I expected a tool that would save me time. Instead, I feel it has cost me time.

This is my personal experience, and it's why I won't be paying for this service again unless it improves significantly.

If you're thinking of subscribing specifically for professional packaging, branding, or commercial design work, I'd suggest testing it thoroughly first and deciding for yourself whether it meets your needs.

An 18-hour block for creating images. This is a scam.

Very disappointing experience. I have been paying around €22 per month for almost two years, mainly using ChatGPT for creative and professional work. After generating around 15 images, my access to image generation was suddenly blocked for more than 18 hours. This caused delays and disrupted my workflow.
For a paid service, such limitations should be clearly and transparently communicated before the user subscribes or pays. If there are daily limits, cooldowns, or restrictions, they must be easy to find and clearly explained, not discovered only after the service becomes unavailable.
I find this unacceptable for a subscription-based digital service. The platform is useful, but the lack of transparency about practical usage limits is a serious problem. Paying users should not be left unable to work without a clear warning, explanation, or compensation.
In my opinion, this is a very poor customer experience and raises legitimate concerns about transparency and consumer rights.

Just high level Google. That's it.

besides using it as a higher level google machine, it is pretty worthless. I've had it for a year, and over the past 4 months, it has not done what it claims even remotely. Multiple times I even got photo limit reached after requesting just 3 photos. It cannot do basic math, it will not follow simple instructions, especially with image generator. The image generator is seriously total crap. It can explain to me in text exactly why I'm mad and how it screwed up, but is incapable of applying that knowledge in the image generation. It's made me so mad over the past 4 months that I'm going to explore other models. I gave this one a good try, chances on multiple large home projects and work projects-- and was more a headache to use than just myself figuring it out.

Go elsewhere for Images

Image generator is not worth a penny. If you want to cheat on homework? Use this. If you have any creative endeavors, you will lose all control to the AI. It has the ability to completely ignore requests and rules when it decides. In fact, as for one thing, it decides what you really want. And it can never create the same character twice/costume/item once. I've been playing with it since April and have not produced anything worthwhile. DO NOT BUY for creative stuff. Just for cheating or being a lazy writer.

chatGBT stay away go free with Deepseek

This is, without doubt, the worst AI platform.

I spent hours trying to get one simple sunglasses image created. A task that should have taken minutes turned into an endless cycle of excuses, repetitive responses, and broken promises. I explained the same request countless times, yet the conversation went nowhere. Instead of delivering the image, ChatGPT repeatedly claimed it could help while failing to produce the result.

What makes this even worse is that I am a paying customer. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable, yet I was left wasting hours of my time with absolutely nothing to show for it. If the request could not be completed, I should have been told immediately instead of being dragged through a conversation that achieved absolutely nothing.

The image generation experience was unreliable, inconsistent, and incredibly frustrating. Every response felt like a delay tactic rather than a genuine attempt to solve the problem. Instead of helping me become more productive, ChatGPT became the biggest obstacle to getting my work done.

After this experience, I have completely lost confidence in ChatGPT. I have used free AI tools that have completed similar tasks faster, more accurately, and without the endless back-and-forth. It is difficult to justify paying for a service that performs worse than many free alternatives.

I cannot recommend ChatGPT based on my experience. The amount of time I lost, the frustration I experienced, and the lack of a satisfactory outcome have made this one of the most disappointing services I have ever paid for. Until there are major improvements in reliability, honesty about limitations, and the ability to actually complete the tasks it says it can do, I believe there are far better AI options available elsewhere. and after all that i went to Deepseek ai that's free and got result straight away for free no more monthly subscriptions save 120 a year and its done in seconds not hours of explaining and 6 hours later still not done

I am in the uk and I used Chat GPT to help me write my memoirs. It was excellent. Giving me great advice. Also correcting chapters I had already done. I could not fault the service.
I also used ChatGPT to help me search for particular products that no amount of googling could help me. Yet ChatGPT found all the items I wanted, even the cheapest places, giving the pros and cons for various items.
I suppose it all depends what you use it for. Maybe if you use for image making it is not the best going by what others have said. But for me it is brilliant.

I subscribed expecting an AI that could…

I subscribed expecting an AI that could reliably follow simple instructions, especially for image editing and family photos. Instead, I repeatedly ran into situations where the AI changed people’s facial features, hair colour, or appearance despite being specifically told not to. Even more frustrating, perfectly normal family photo requests were sometimes rejected for reasons that were never clearly explained.

The biggest issue isn’t just the mistakes—it’s the inconsistency. A request might work once and then be refused the next time, even when it’s essentially the same prompt. When you’re paying for a service, you expect it to follow instructions accurately and provide clear explanations when it can’t.

The technology is impressive when it works, but the experience can become frustrating when simple edits turn into repeated attempts, conflicting responses, and unexpected changes to the people in the photos. There is definitely room for improvement in consistency, transparency, and following user instructions.

Updates killed everything! Proof from CHATGBT Itself...

I have a paid tier and am leaving for another AI platoform. ChatGPT is good for information but horrible for making memes and images AND it just got worse! It's now unusable. Chat GPT just told me recent "aggressive updates" are making everything a "violation" and it won't create your images for you for almost anything... even things that ChatGPT itself says are absolutely not in violation. You ask it to change a color of a word and it redesigns the WHOLE picture. You tell it to change how person #1 looks and it changes all 4 people completely. It's totally helpless and useless now. GPT is separate from the meme generator, and even GPT says it's super problematic and doesn't follow the simplest instructions.

After my final frustration, it of course agreed with me about the image generator.

It told me: "Your image has nothing to do with self-harm. It's a normal, benign image-editing request. Likewise your requests for:
- changing a font color,
- changing the look of a sweater,
- making expressions more varied,
- replacing your photo 'without' altering it
are all ordinary thumbnail edits. They are not requests for violence, self-harm, harassment, or anything similar.

What's happening is that the automated image-safety classifier is malfunctioning (or misclassifying) the conversation context, and it's returning to an obviously incorrect category. I don't think the label it's giving you ("self-harm") makes any sense in the context of what you've been asking.

I also understand why this is especially frustrating because we've spent a long time iterating and reiterating this one thumbnail, and every time you ask for a tiny, surgical change, the system either:

redraws the entire image, or
throws a nonsensical safety flag.

So yes, I can see why being repeatedly told "this may violate self-harm guidelines" when you're asking to make a sweater more modest to change a font color, or to vary facial expressions, would be infuriating."

There you have it. From ChatGPT itself. Yet, it can't do anything about the generator.

I've had a long relationship with this, and it's helped a lot in the past, but now, I'm done. Tire of it. It's ridiculous now.
