Horrible places.
I have now been to two CHEC clinics. I had to go to the second one because the first one in Kings Norton didn’t have any doctors for check ups.
The clinic in Redditch as well as the Kings Norton one are dismal looking places to say the least. Both horrible, cold looking places. Nothing welcoming about them at all.
One place does not have a receptionist so you have to wait at the door until the nurse has finished seeing a patient.
The medical staff were good but that’s the only good thing I can say although it is difficult at times to understand the thick accents.
I have only had the cataract in one eye done at present and I will be going to another company to have my second eye done.
I would say to people who are awaiting surgery to go somewhere else. Do not use this company.
Excellent
After reading so many negative reviews about Chec Redditch I have to say that my experience with them is positive. OK the parking isn't good but if you get there early for your appointment you can wait and inevitably someone will pull out and you then have a space. The staff and surgeons are polite an do a thorough examination and my overall experience was good.
I had the best experience at CHEC…
I had the best experience at CHEC Watford today.
I was seen on time and the procedure was explained to me clearly (YAG)
All the adults were friendly and efficient.
There was even free tea, coffee and biscuits!
Thank you.

This organisation has looked after me for many years since I was diagnosed with Glaucoma. They are well run and very efficient.
The staff are very friendly and caring.

Had an appt at Loughborough clinic in the Rushes! What I would like to know is where do they get these "GPs/Doctors/Consultants" from?
The person I saw hadn't got a clue what to do! He looked in my ear & said "it looks fine to me" even though I have been plagued with psoriasis for over TWO YEARS! I asked "is it psoriasis"? the person said "I'm not sure" I then asked "can I still take Dactacort" "mmm not sure"
This person couldn't even say Dermatologist! Kept saying "skin doctor"! Think this person just walked in from the street & they bunged this person in a consultation room!
Horrible place at Redditch.
Horrible place at Redditch.
Allocated parking already filled by people who work there. Having to bang several times on the door to be let in. Seen by a surly man with no patient skills whatsoever, clearly annoyed that I kept asking him to repeat as I am quite deaf. Said I needed treatment for left eye and would get an appointment letter. Now 2 months later have still heard nothing.
Shambolic
Husband prepped for second cataract op at Stoke clinic to be told by the surgeon that in his notes the
previous op.had been very difficult so he needed an injection and facilities which the clinic did not have. He was told that an urgent referral would be made to the hospital. Still.waiting 3 weeks later after chasing this up.
First surgeon should have reported the problem to prevent a wasted 6 weeks and all the stress caused on the morning of the op. His eye has deteriorated significantly. No reply to out email to head office. No reply from clinic staff who promised to chase up.the neglected urgent referral.
Not happy with the lack of respect and care for your patiients.
Dismissive doctor
Problem is a cyst on my eyelid, grows, fills with puss, bursts then subsides, cycle repeats over 2 week period and has done for 8 months. 2 courses of antibiotics failed to improve things.
On the day of the appt the cyst was in the subsided part of the cycle as had burst a few days earlier. So I showed the doctor photos over the last 2 weeks showing the cyst larger, redder and with a head.
The doctor explained what it was, which my GP had already done, then said how they often just go away over time. He wasn't happy when I repeated what I had already said that it had been happening for 8 months continually and also antibiotics failed to help. I asked what he would do were it his eye, he avoided answering this and only after my pushing back did he agree to a minor operation but was underwhelming in his commitment to it. He appeared to ignore the evidence of the photos I showed him from just days ago and the 8 months of continued cysts. His opinion was more important to him than my evidence.
After thinking about someone uncommitted to the operation cutting around my eye I had no confidence in the doctor and his really not wanting to do the operation so I cancelled.
4 days after the consultation he cyst is large, red and with a puss filled head, so not self healing at all. I won't be going back to CHEC for anything, ever.
Superb experience.
Second visit to the clinic in Westbromwich on the 3rd of June for second cataract procedure, excellent service again ,so professional and informative, I would recommend this clinic in a heart beat ,a massive thank you to all the staff.
Awful company
Awful company! I haven't even had the operation yet, but it's been misinformation and unprofessional staff to the point that I wished I'd gone anywhere else but here.
They advertised in their leaflet that they offered the premium lens on the NHS. They don't! The manager said he would have someone call me to tell me how good their NHS option is. I have called to cancel this phonecall and was asked "why?". I explained I had other plans and the attitude I got was disgusting. I explained that I'd been lead to believe that I would be having the premium lens and was told that it's something I should take up with my opticians!

Very nice staff the appointment was a bit late other than that it was very good
Awful company
Awful company. And false advertising in my opinion. Their website states 97% positive reviews. Interesting that on Trust Pilot there are only 21 reviews and ALL of them are negative -“shocking company” “disgusting” and even a specialist stating he has no idea why the NHS is using them!!! Shocking treatment - which I will review later today - I’ve just wasted almost an hour waiting for my telephone appointment - and the guy didn’t even apologise!!!! Once I told him he should have apologised he then did. Should I have to tell him? ???? Awful company in my experience - I would stay FAR away !!!
Poor service
Difficulties arranging appointments their telephone line says wait 4 weeks after a test for them to text you an appointment. Eventually after 4 weeks & no text message got to speak to a human, told I needed two appointments (fair enough) but said they were only able to book one. The don't seem to want to book follow up appointments.
There's no actual admin/reception staff at the local (Kidderminster) centre, apparently they just rent the space, so for appointments you have to phone up, with long waits and then long lead times before the appointment.
Having had tests at Kidderminster I was told the machine was faulty so had to rebook, with yet more long lead times for appointments,
I will try to find an alternative to this organisation.

Never been treated so terribly in all my live would not recommend imran Rahman is a very rude individual I would recommend going else where
Communication with this company is…
Communication with this company is extremely difficult. I have been unable to speak to a human being and although I have cancelled my appointment I have continued to get messages, which don’t allow a reply, stating I have an appointment. I have tried to phone to cancel again but am left waiting in a long queue. I had many questions about the surgery which remained unanswered and I am requesting a referral to a different agency as I feel if they can’t manage their communication in an accessible and considerate manner,I do not want to trust them with something as critical as my sight.

CHEC Newcross what a shambles my opticians referred me to them to have a cataract removed after 7 weeks I still couldn't see went back to the clinic 3 more times they said they can't see anything wrong yet 3 times my optician could see the lens was all cloudy so then CHEC decided to do a laser treatment still no improvement had to get referred to St.thomas opthalmology who informed me that the treatment I had at CHEC had damaged my eyesight further leaving me very short sighted to a point I can't see anything even with glasses my consultant at St.thomas hospital is unsure if I will get my sight back and also informed me that I need to have a MRI as there is significant swelling at the back of my eye which could be a tumour but until I have the MRI I have to attend St.thomas hospital in london every 6 weeks to rule out if I have a tumour behind my eye or on my brain and I was advised to take the matter further which I have started the process by speaking with a solicitor and my local MP.

Just arrived to be greeted by a yawning receptionist, no eye contact or any attempt to be pleasant. Then TOLD to sit down.
Sign by reception says "Wait to be called to reception". Whatever happened to "Please". This creates a horrible atmosphere and they need to treat people with more respect. It doesn't give me any confidence that I am going to be treated any better by consultants.
Very unprofessional company
This company has been a shambles from start to finish. My optician diagnosed a cataract which i was advised to have removed. An appt was made at Chec and I attended for pre-assessment. Further eye tests were done and I was told I did not have a cataract. I was sent away and I returned to my optician who retested me and said I do have a cataract. My eye is very blurred and glasses do not correct it. I received a call from Chec wanting to give me a second opinion. I reluctantly agreed and then received a link a few days later to make a further appt. I did that but then 2 days later I received another link wanting me to make an appt. As I already had an appt, I rang them but was keep getting told to refer to the link. I wasnt able to speak to anyone because the call kept cutting me off. I was receiving up to 3 links a day asking me to make further appts. I tried making a further appt via the links but it was saying sorry there is a problem each time. When I rang the number it cut me off again. I again called the number on the bank Holiday Monday 5th May to be told they were closed until 27th DECEMBER. By this time I had lost all confidence in the company so will not be attending again

I am now onto the 3rd appoinment about the same thing.
I received a request to make an appointment, following a scan, earlier today, as advised by the person doing the scan, via text.
I logged-in as advised. It would not let me make an appointment. It then said that I had to wait a month.
I phone up and and put in a queue of 10. It takes 10mins to get to 9th place. aaaargh I hung up, I simply do not have the time to waste.
I the try the 'CHAT' process, It took several minutes to get someone to get an agent to respond. then each message takes far to long to be responeded to. Why? the agent is on several Chats at the same time. (hmm how to wind-up the caller in one easy step).
The 1st appointment was held-up for a month, due to process....aaaargh
I then arranged with agent for her to call back. Someone did. But next suitable appointment at the local surgey was 20+ days away....aaaaargh.
What a load of bobloks - I will now be going private...
I have been 12 months since my last eye appoinment. I could not afford the safety glasses at that time and also had symptoms of a torn - retina (been there before). When I got the funds, 8 months later I needed another eye test. The optician, then could not get a consistent result from one eye. Hence this protracted process. I cannot see clearly out of my left eye. But no-one at CHEC appears to care...aaaaargh The process do not work! They simply wind-up people like me....aaaargh
Four months of inferior treatment
First appointment was wrongly booked with "wrong" person and had to be rebooked. First impression was of small univiting, shabby premises. Receptionist was harassed but helpful. She e,planned she would book my appointments as usually done from central booking which didn't always work. I have had 3 appointments so far since January with no outcome. The final app was 28th April, but was cancelled due to "Health and safety issues". This was by a voice message. I had arranged a lift as drops were to be administered. I will not be making another app as went to Spec savers yesterday (sunday) who did all the tests on their superior state of the art equipment and refered me to the Eye hospital.
