AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Not only does Joivy charge exorbitant prices and outrageous agency fees (€900) - which are inversely proportional to their competence. We’ve had water damage that hasn’t been addressed for two years, every interaction with them has been a disaster, and when contractors come to our home, they show up without warning.
EVERYTHING in their rental model is disadvantageous. The only way we could get Joivy to listen to us was by going through Droitaulogement69 association, which we recommend to anyone dealing with them in Lyon.
The service on WhatsApp is super fast; they really try to help in the best way possible.
This agency appears to be fraudulent. We were required to pay before we received a contact. Upon receiving the contract, the terms were not as we had requested (a year not 4 months) and disclosures of significant mold. We did not sign the contact and requested to move to a different property without mold. The company has not responded to our multiple emails and calls over a week. They took our money and never gave us access to a property or responded to any of our requests to work with them.

I had a good experience in connecting with an agent through WhatsApp and chatting about my options.

Electricity and hot water go off every other week, no effort in helping residents with problems or requests, emergency number barely answers...
It's a complete mess

AVOID. Joke of an agency with zero care or respect for tenants. Lived without a functioning bedroom door lock while being sexually harassed by a roommate for weeks. Joivy failed to put a proper lock on my bedroom door, despite my repeated pleas for help. Even after filing reports with police about this roommate, Joivy refused to kick him out. They are a disgrace and should be ashamed of themselves. Their agents entered the apartment and our bedrooms freely, without notifying tenants beforehand. Bad quality furniture, slow to intervene for any appliance related issues. They do not care about the tenants or the state of their apartments. Awful awful awful agency, those working there should be ashamed of themselves!

My experience with Joivy in Paris has been deeply distressing and disappointing. The agency has shown complete disregard for tenant safety, privacy, and basic professionalism.
• Unannounced visits: Agency representatives entered our apartment with no prior notice — a direct violation of tenant rights.
• Negligence and lack of communication: Emails about serious issues were ignored for days or weeks.
• Undisclosed construction: During my stay, the apartment and building were undergoing major construction. Windows were blocked, air quality was terrible, and there were strong chemical fumes — none of which Joivy had disclosed before signing.
• Failure to act on serious harassment: One of my flatmates sexually harassed another tenant and entered our private bedrooms without consent, even lying on our beds. Despite us providing video evidence and informing Joivy about the situation — along with an ongoing police investigation — the agency refused to take any action to protect the tenants or ensure our safety.
For €1000/month, tenants deserve professionalism, safety, and respect. Instead, Joivy’s response has been apathy, negligence, and complete disregard for renters’ rights and well-being.
I strongly urge anyone considering renting through Joivy to think twice. Their handling of serious safety and privacy violations has been unacceptable.

YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF IN THE STREET THAN WITH THIS COMPANY! I have been without hot water and internet for four months, there is mold in the ceiling, many power outlets are broken, my shower is broken, and the sink and dishwasher are broken. Absolute hell trying to get them to respond to an email, much less repair my apartment. SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND SANITY.
Edit: Joivy's reply to my review is categorically incorrect, and misrepresents every issue I mentioned.
A. To this day, hot water is inconsistent at best after months of it being broken.
B. Even before the buildings wifi was renovated, the router was malfunctioning and not working for months. After the maintenance that doubled down on the issue, many of our neighbors reported their internet working, while ours remained broken.
C. Of the two air boxes they claim were installed, only one was ever delivered, and it is so abysmally slow and short-range that using it is more trouble than it's worth. It's hardly fast enough for one user, let alone 5 housemates.
D. The ceiling has been "humid" as they describe for the entire duration of my stay, which is nearing 11 months.
E. As for the sink and dishwasher, there are numerous issues including frequent clogs and malfunctions.
Joivy/Chez Nestor should not be trusted. If you'd like photographic proof of any of my claims, or to discuss this situation with me, my phone number is +33 (0) 7 85 28 76 17.

It was easy to get my keys from the Nest and the explanation of how to enter the apartment was very clear. I was matched with good flatmates who shared an understanding of cleanliness and coliving. There were quite a few interventions from Joivy, I would estimate two per month which sometimes seemed like a lot.
I arrived and my bedroom was not as clean as I left it but the checkout process was very thorough so this may be improving. I’m awaiting the return of my deposit impatiently as I no longer live in the EU and need to close my bank account, the return process seems longer than necessary.

I had a terrible experience with Joivy and would never recommend them to anyone. They constantly tried to scam me by making up false “contract details” and changing the terms without my agreement. They also deducted money from my deposit without any valid reason, and when I asked for explanations, they just lied and made up stories. Their staff was dishonest and unprofessional at every step, and they clearly have no respect for their customers. Stay away from this company if you don’t want to be cheated and stressed. Absolutely disgraceful.

Joivy made the whole process smooth and stress-free, everything is fully digitalized, and the first-come, first-served system makes it possible to rent without the usual hellish experience of dealing with traditional agencies. The support team was incredibly responsive (Catherine, if you’re reading this… you definitely deserve a raise! 😄). I found a place in no time, just steps away from my future job, and I couldn’t be more excited to start this new chapter in Paris!

I had a very disappointing experience with Joivy – especially regarding transparency, communication, and basic living conditions.
Even before I moved in, there were serious issues with the Wi-Fi. My flatmates had already tried to resolve the issue multiple times but eventually gave up due to slow and ineffective communication. Since none of us could study or work properly under these conditions, I tried again – but it still took a lot of effort and time to get it fixed.
The water heater had already failed several times before I arrived. During my stay, we ended up having no hot water and no heating for three weeks. While Joivy did offer a last-minute relocation, it came with no clear information and on short notice in the middle of the week – an unrealistic option. Instead, we were advised to boil water in pots.
Given that we were paying around €670 to €1,000 per person per month, this was completely unacceptable. While we received a small compensation after much back-and-forth, it was less than what had been promised. Most flatmates ended up moving in with friends or partners just to manage, yet we were still charged full rent – which felt like a rip-off.
Most importantly, there was a known mice infestation in the apartment that was not disclosed to me before signing the contract. This is not just unethical, it’s legally questionable. Joivy insisted on enforcing the 30-day notice period despite the serious issues in the apartment – a highly dubious stance from a legal standpoint.
Considering the conditions we had to live with – no hot water, no heating, no internet, and mice – insisting on a full notice period felt very inconsiderate.
Conclusion: The rent is high, the service poor, and major issues are hidden rather than addressed transparently. I absolutely would not recommend Joivy.

I have stayed here (Joivy Asnières-sur-Seine) for nearly 5 months and have had a really good experience. The check-in process is seamless and easy to process just by reading their instructions. They have regular cleaning of the common places which is much appreciated. (Emergency Exit places can also be cleaned regularly). They have ample space on the roof top to chill on sunny days and it is one of my favorite places to hangout in the entire building. They have laundry machines in the machines which are available at extra cost but get the job done clean and efficient. The kitchen is well equipped with all utensils and crockery which are required for your cooking and I had ample space in the kitchen/refrigerator to store my groceries and fresh goods. Another highlight of this place would be the access to public transport and how near this is to St.Lazare
Bus 178 - 4mins
J/L Train Line - 4mins
Bus 277 - 10mins
I would recommend if you are planning for a comfortable all inclusive stay in Paris

I had a dream that joivy.com would make my wish come true, a dream of living in the center of Paris, really convenient and fast. The location and the interior are very good, so if you are looking for an apartment, it's really a good idea to find the right amount of money and the rest of the problem will not be a problem. Highly recommended, perfect for enjoying life.

If you can avoid it in any way, do not move into a Chez Nestor apartment! The condition of the apartments is disastrous – mine was filthy, the fridge was full of mold, cockroaches were laying in the hallway, the furniture was old and partly broken, and the promised amenities were either missing or completely unusable (e.g., burnt, stinking pans).
On top of that, the billing is completely non-transparent:
In multiple emails, I was told my rent would be €640 – but when it came time to pay, it suddenly became €652. When I asked about it, I only got a casual response: “Oops, I must have made a mistake. But it's still 652 Euros”
Constant hidden fees that were never mentioned before: cleaning fees, service fees – just made up!
Deposit still not refunded after 2 months! Instead, they deducted €45 for a mattress protector, even though I left the apartment in perfect condition.
Customer service is a joke: Either they don’t respond at all, or they send generic replies to dismiss complaints.
Conclusion: Chez Nestor is completely untrustworthy and systematically scams its tenants. Stay far away from this company!

I stayed in a Chez Nestor room during my five-month summer job in Lyon. The booking process was quite smooth. However, the pictures in the advertisement were taken when the apartment was brand new and had clearly been photoshopped. In reality, the apartment wasn’t as nice or as new as the pictures suggested. This is acceptable to some extent, but they should be honest about it—especially considering the exorbitant amount of money they charge for a room.
During my stay, two problems arose. First, our washing machine broke down (which was fixed quite quickly). Second, our Wi-Fi router stopped working. Although my housemate and I both clearly indicated that the router itself wasn’t working (there were no lights on it at all), they sent a repairman to fix the signal cable. Unsurprisingly, he couldn’t do anything and left without resolving the issue. When we communicated this back to Chez Nestor, it still took quite some time before they provided us with a new router, which we had to install ourselves. In total, we spent a month without internet, and there was no apology or compensation from Chez Nestor.
When it was time to leave the apartment, an agent came to inspect my room. He noted that the mattress and pillow protectors had stains on them and needed to be replaced. He also said the pillows would be replaced because they were old and soft. I had indeed forgotten to wash the pillow protectors, so it made sense that I should be charged for replacing them. However, I only used the mattress protector on the first night, after which I bought my own sheets and protector. When I explained this to the agent, he checked the previous report and confirmed that the mattress protector already had a stain on it. He assured me I shouldn’t be charged for the new mattress protector or the pillows.
Despite this, three weeks after checkout, I received an email from Chez Nestor saying I would be charged for everything they replaced, including the mattress protector and pillows. I pointed out that this was incorrect and that I should only be charged for the pillow protectors. They replied, saying they wouldn’t charge me for the pillows but would still charge me for the mattress protector because the stain was allegedly “bigger.” When I asked them to verify this with their agent, they simply ignored me. Today, I received my deposit back, and I see that I’ve been charged for all the items, including the pillows, which they had previously agreed not to charge me for.
Additionally, a month after my checkout, I received an invoice for €55 in cleaning costs without any explanation. When I asked why I was being charged, they told me that “it was decided that cleaning was necessary,” even though the agent who performed the checkout didn’t mention anything about my room being dirty. In fact, he didn’t even inspect the rest of the apartment. When I asked them to elaborate on why the cleaning was deemed necessary, they ignored me again.
Overall, I didn’t have the best experience staying with Chez Nestor. It seems like this company takes advantage of foreign students, who often struggle to find housing in France, by charging outrageous amounts for rooms and then trying to extract even more money from them upon departure.
