We’re smart when it comes to chicken safety. It all began with a flock of hens, and ten years later we’re the global innovators in smart and reliable coop safety technology.

Best door ever! 100% would recommend! Had an auto door for 3 years now and it’s brilliant! Happy chickens too!

There is absolutely no doubt that the team at chicken guard are dedicated to providing the best product and customer service that our girls could deserve. We have been using the chicken guard all in one door for a couple of years now and it has been brilliant. Just recently we have had a hen, that on rare occasions will not move out of the way of the door when it closes, she does not go up to roost but sits in the doorway. Knowing this I should have set the door to manual close, however I did not and got caught out a couple of times with the door coming down on the silly hen. On both occasions the safety mechanism of the door prevented the chicken from meeting an unhappy end. However, I panicked and damaged the door and motor when I discovered the hen. I contacted chicken guard to obtain the replacement parts. Despite this being clearly being owner error, they insisted I sent the door back to them which they repaired free of charge. Absolutely astonishing service, thank you very much Chicken Guard.

A game changer!
I’m not a morning person and we go away fairly often so having an auto door has made my life so much easier. I never have any doubts that my hens aren’t tucked up safe and sound each night. I always use the light sensor open/close option.
The door was easy to install, straightforward to set up and calibrate the door. The battery lasts for a long time too.
Worth every penny!!

Wondering what makes the ChickenGuard all in one door worth the money?
Solar option ....
This is great if you don't have mains or want to rely on batteries (although these do last a long time). If your door is in a bright spot, it will charge the included rechargeable batteries daily providing more than enough power to operate the doors and also store power for less bright days. The solar panel itself is small and unobtrusive and the batteries are easily accessible.
Having Solar doesn't stop you switching out the rechargeable batteries to AAs or running from electric instead which is a nice feature as some Solar doors run only from Solar.
Coming into Summer in the UK this is a less useful feature but you'll be very grateful come the colder months as the doors have a 'Winter' mode setting ....
To test this, I soaked the unit it in water and froze it at -19°C for 90 minutes and it opened and closed straight from the freezer. (See YT video on Sajelo Equestrian).
Dorset, UK saw temperatures of -1°C to -4°C at the end of November / beginning December 2023 and my 'generic Totdiffy all in one doors (all 6 of them) froze solid and some didn't open fully for 4 hours and a few failed to open at all.
If that doesn't convince you ...
- the door is extremely well made
- the display is easy to read
- it's easy to program
- it has a powerful geared motor with pinch control
- good sized, sturdy cog
- set to dawn/dusk, timer or a combination of both
- mount the control unit away from the door
- it can be plugged in to a 9v-12v supply
- the company respond to messages quickly
- good discounts offered throughout the year!
- there are now different coloured doors to suit your coop!
As at 6/5/2025 I have 6 of these doors (1 is solar) and highly recommend them having had no problems with them at all since their purchase throughout 2024. (I will be getting a 7th door once the app is up and running!)

I purchased 2 complete set solar doors. They have been a great buy allowing me to sleep in and not jump out of bed at the crack of dawn to let the fur kids out. My only disappointment with the doors is where I purchased red doors, so they complimented my magenta chook house, only to realise the auto mechanism is white in colour. It really defeated my mission trying to colour match and hide the white mechanism. I think anyone who goes out of their way to buy the red door would understand my point. I hope that future improvement would include colouring the mechanism box to match the door. Other than the cosmetic annoyance, I'm very happy with the operational design.

This is our second unit from this company. The first unit lasted a long time and when the motor quit on it, they sent us a new one! We decided to upgrade to the solar unit, which seems the wires for the solar were damaged in shipping. Online with customer support and a new one is on the way! I will continue to use a product that has awesome customer support because that is sometimes hard to find! The reliability and longevity we got out of the first opener was above expectations.

We have 2 doors from this company and although have had a few issues with them, the customer service we have received has always been excellent

Great customer response. Sent an email explaining a problem with my door I was experiencing. Promptly received a help email Return with instructions on how to fix my issue. Worked like a charm.

I have used CG products for about ten years, and currently have 32 units in use. With so many units, I do periodically have an issue and require some techy support - but customer service has always been prompt and support offered either via self-help guides, which often works well and sorts any issue, or two repairs both which were returned to me within a week.

I’ve had two Chicken Guard door openers in around fifteen years. I’ve had no issues with either really. The string could be a bit stronger perhaps but otherwise a great product

I purchased a chicken guard back in 2021 and it is a game changer for chicken keeping. I would highly recommend these. The first set of batteries it came with only just ran out, nearly four years later. A very efficient and effective piece of kit!

I owned the first auto chicken opener from this company, it was a great product and lasted 8 years.
When it failed nearly 2 years ago I replaced with the new pro model.
In 8 months it failed to close on lux/light setting, then failed on opening shortly after. Customer services put us through endless settings changes, photo requests etc before finally agreeing to replace the front panel. All worked fine again until 7 months in again unit stops opening and closing on lux/light settings. Manual open/closed worked fine retaining the calibration settings for open /close configuration.
Again, customer services demand replacing batteries, already did it but hey, no success, then redo lux settings, then do calibration, then send photos, then send a video! They say it’s the rear unit with the motor, but that works manually, they sent the rear unit case, no change!
Then return the unit, not just the current unit but both rear units, the current front unit but now also require the receipt of the front panel that previously failed 8 months ago.
Fortunately I keep everything so I returned all!
Within hours of confirming receipt they respond no fault; please pay our courier charges plus charge to send back to me, I pushed back for greater testing but they blame the door, a door kit identical to their classic door kit.
I’m convinced there is a design fault and now plan independent testing, seems a lot for a £130 unit but I have access to considerably proficient and highly qualified engineering resources to do it and it’s a matter of principle now.

I've had a mixed experience with ChickenGuard. In the past, their product worked well with minimal issues, but my recent experience hasn't been as smooth. Battery life can be quite short, and I've faced persistent issues with the door not functioning as it should. Despite some successes resolving problems temporarily, reliability has been a concern, prompting frequent checks. Customer support has varied, sometimes helpful but at other times less satisfactory, especially when seeking a replacement under warranty. It's a decent product, but there's room for improvement in both performance and service.

I do not recommend chicken guard. Hideously expensive but continual issues. Honestly right now would be easier to keep going out and letting them out myself. Have had it for two weeks - first issue in first two days, which I sorted, then I went away and came back and poor chickens stuck inside, recalibrated the door and now the screen is stuck on blue with the door wide open and what can I do? And apparently the batteries are dead and I have already replaced them once.

I'm surprised at anyone finding the ChickenGuard "unreliable" - I've had one for many years and it has been excellent. I can count the failures over half a dozen years on the fingers of one hand, and they have almost all been me not spotting that it wanted new batteries after maybe 6 moths or more of use.
Moreover the support and service from the company has been exemplary. Rare to find one that produces good products and treats customers as intelligent adults.
I've been trying out the latest remote controlled system, and both the hardware and software implementation are excellent. Their design team deserve several plaudits - and as someone versed in electronics, I don't hand those out lightly.

Been through 2 sets of batteries in 2 months. Apparently if there is an error message the screen stays lit and drains the batteries. Installed on a flat wall so no reason for error - might be chickens getting in the way apparently. Was offered a replacement the first time it went wrong but managed to get it going again so decided to persist. The second time the offer was rescinded unless i sent the unit back for testing. Working again after more new batteries but unreliable to the point you have to check am/pm to make sure its open / closed or an error message which defeats the object!!
