I don’t think you can have a better ambassador than Chris Conroy what a gentleman. He came to my mothers property 75 year old, answered all her queries politely was clear on giving us the correct expectations on securing funding on what the next steps were. Fast forward 6 months we are delighted to announce we have a secure front and back door at my mother’s premises she feels safe in her property. Chris has done equally good work across the area supporting the vulnerable who have echoed the same sentiment to me to pass on this review. If only you could clone and have more people like Chris the world would be a better place.

Chris came to visit us yesterday to help make our home a bit more cosy by fitting radiator reflectors and providing energy-saving light bulbs and a clever device to switch off all my 'sleeping' office paraphernalia with one switch. It was a pleasure to have him in our house; he was friendly, polite and full of useful advice - a real credit to your organisation. The dogs loved him too!

Absolutely excellent

We have had a heat pump, new radiators, loft insulation and solar panels. I cannot recommend these workmen highly enough. Every one of them has been polite, worked so well and have completely tidied up after themselves. They’ve been a joy to have in our home. Communication with all the firms involved has been excellent.

Chris Conroy Excellent Ambassador

Chris Conroy has been a great help in making my home warmer. He’s very friendly and very efficient and I am very pleased with how he’s helped me be a bit more cosy in my draughty house by using reflective sheets behind the radiators, sorting the letterbox, giving me a smart plug device and making my external door less windy. He should be the face of Cosy Homes.

Chris at cosy homes was very efficient and knowledgeable

Chris came round to have a look at my house with regards to saving energy. He fitted foil behind my radiators, put energy saving bulbs in my lights, plus he put plugs in that turn standby off on the tv and side lamps when not in use. He was so helpful, knowledfeable, friendly and efficient. I wouldn't hesitate to call him if I needed any more information.

Toxic & Unethical

I’ve been getting the runaround for over 10 months now since getting approval for a grant. (Edit- I’ve just taken another star off for another 5 months on top of that so 15 months in total & a winter with no heating). I’ve been holding off with a poor review because I was hoping that Cosy Homes (Rhea Projects LTD) would redeem themselves. They didn’t .

It would be great if they actually paid attention to the needs of the vulnerable and disabled people they are getting paid to assist.

I just got a stressful phone call from their customer service about my review. Now I’m upset by them once again because of their toxic attitude, so I’ve taken off another star. They constantly twist the narrative so I look like the problem not them. Had enough!

It’s dehumanising when businesses pretend they care but to them you’re just a resource for profit, and the lies to cover themselves. Shameful.

We are sorry to learn you feel like this and assure you it is never our intention to cause any of our residents any amount of distress.

We can appreciate some of our residents experience delays with installations, some of which are out of our control, as we are required to comply with government guidance and seek approval for installations to proceed.

We can see from our records all measures are now completed.

Once again, we apologise that you have had cause to complain and hope everything is now resolved to your satisfaction. However, if there is anything further we can assist you with please let us know and we will do out upmost to resolve any outstanding issues.

After 3 appointments for a survey after…

After 3 appointments for a survey after receiving a letter approved by the council they finally sent someone

After meeting the required eligibility requirements I.e. an oil boiler etc., asked what did I want

I replied

A. Heat pump to provide underfloor heating and feed existing radiators with low level hot water saving on oil.

B. Extra solar panels to provide additional 1.5kw / hr max to add to my existing 4KW pv system on the roof.

C. A 15KW battery to store electricity from solar and cheap nighttime tariff

D. A heat battery 300litre that can be heated from cheap electric and be used to heat existing radiators

However they couldn’t or wouldn’t provided any of these.

All they wanted to do was rip out the oil boiler and existing radiators and replace with heat pump and much larger radiators

I said “not on your Nellie” !!!

My idea would be much cheaper quicker and more reliable without all the mess. Allow the use of oil boiler until beyond economical repair or too expensive to use. Also the cheap electric would make me consider an electric car.

I think the council approved letter should have made this clear and saved us a lot of time.

If anyone knows who can provide with funding I’d be interested

The person who came was very honest and polite so I gave them 3 stars

It must be a good business model for cosy from the quality cars they use.

Update: I have contacted a nation energy supply company who are interested. Will the council still provide the grant if they submit a proposal ?

In conclusion my opinion is the cosy proposal is a nightmare solution for poor and vulnerable people like us

Especially when a cheaper easier to install and more reliable is possible!!

I shall be very annoyed if my council tax or income tax is being used to fund such an initiative.

After researching there is a more cheaper alternative that will provide more reliable and efficient and cheaper to run than the oil boiler. Without destroying the house.

Regrettably, the measures/type of installation you requested is not currently possible under the government grant. However, should any of the measure become available, we will contact you to let you know.

We’re sorry for any disappointment caused.

"We have lots of different funding" - but not really.

"We have lots of different funding types and the criteria to apply differs for each of them. Some are dependent on a household income and the EPC rating of your home but many are not. We have an offer for most residents."

Not true - I have filled in the form including uploading a payslip and they called next day said I'm not eligible for anything even though on the website it says "We also have insulation measures which are free to everyone at present. "

On government websites it says I'm eligible for some improvements (I live in a stone end terrace and pay about £400 a month in gas in the winter to get it to 18 degrees), but they were very quick to say no.

The website needs to be more clear or this company picks who they work with.

Edit: They have been in touch and apologised as they didn't realise I was actually eligible for a referral for loft insulation top-up. Peter gave me a lot of information on the phone and I'm now waiting to hear further.

Hi Alexandru,

We’re sorry you are disappointed with the service.

Cosy Homes in Lancashire is a Council initiative and not a separate company, and we do try to help each resident however, this is not always possible as eligibility is dictated by the individual scheme criteria.

We appreciate the time you have taken to provide your feedback and will look to make our messaging clearer. We have also tried to contact you by phone to let you know of a potential scheme you may be eligible for and advise the next steps.

Yours sincerely,

What a shambles of an organisation!

What a shambles of an organisation!
I had my funding approved early June 2024 for a new boiler. Was given an appointment and booked the day off work. The engineer did arrive who was a lovely chap, however he wasn’t given any information regarding the property, so was sent with the incorrect boiler and missing material to complete the job.
The engineer advised cosy home would be in touch within a few days and reschedule a new installation date.
I have been chasing this incompetent team since June, with countless emails and phones calls, with the same response over and over “we have sent this information to the operations team and will be in contact soon”
It’s almost mid September, I have had zero response from cosy home. Do the operation team actually do any work? I presume not!
We have a 10 month old baby and are struggling with hot water issues, clearly that isn’t a priority!
I wish I reached out to another company who actually care about their customers. I would give zero rating if I could.

My COSY HOMES experience

To begin with my review for Cosy Homes Lancashire wouldn’t of been great. My appointments to do the job kept getting cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and a frequent amount of bereavements. Also the first plumber whom turned up ( I won’t name him ) was rude arrogant and only expected the job to take a day with just one person. I’d been told on initial review by senior staff that the job would take at least 2 days with 2 staff ! He wasn’t obviously in the mood to do a good job so he left which was fine by me! But then it took ages and months of freezing weather for someone new to eventually come to do the job ! And boy was I lucky as I got ‘Terry’ from Fleetwood and wow is he a hard conscientious worker! He never stopped apart from a small amount of time to eat his lunch! I’ve never known such a hard worker whom was polite easy to talk to and easy to get on with ! The weather was freezing too and at one point I offered him heat pads! He came across so many challenges in his job here due to the age and construction of our old boiler and my dads engineering around said boiler and area 🤣 ! The job took much longer than anticipated as I’d expected so I was very lucky the other chap left as he would never of done as much or as good a job as Terry did ! They say when one door shuts another one opens don’t they! There was an issue with the electrics that Terry had to pass off to the electrician Rob so that took a few extra days before Rob could attend to finish that off but he was also a lovely easy to get on with chap and that job was done quickly with ease thankfully. Apart from the plug socket not working in the boiler room ( hopefully they will be back to rectify that soon ) cosy homes staff did an awesome job and have improved my life immensely 😊👍

Very poor communication

I have booked a survey on two separate occasions.
The surveyor turns up rings my mobile to get the key code number and then drives off without doing the survey.
He said he has at least 15 appointments a day and was told by the manager to drive to the next appointment as he only rang once.
Seems to me they are very unprofessional I tried to resolve the matter by speaking to the office manager but no joy.
Let's see what their response is🙀

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are very sorry to learn you are unhappy with the service you received.

Following investigation, it appears no one was available on the 1st appointment to allow the surveyor access to the property therefore, the appointment was rearranged to a later date.

On the 2nd appointment, we received instructions to call ahead prior to the appointment to obtain the key code to access the property however, an attempted phone call was unsuccessful.

The surveyor received a call from you approximately 20 minutes later however, they had left the property and further arrangements would need to be made to return.

It is our understanding that while speaking with you, both the surveyor and office manager were subjected to unwarranted verbal abuse.

On reflection, we note further attempts could have been made to contact you to gain access to your property. This is not the usual standard of service we aim to provide and for this we sincerely apologise.

However, any form of abuse towards staff members is wholly unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

We are disappointed we could not reach a more favourable outcome on this occasion.

Should you wish to discuss the matter further, please contact our team via www.chil.uk.com

Beyond my expectations

I applied with very little expectation as i wasn't on any benefits. I'm glad I did because they really helped. The staff are really friendly and down to earth and always helpful and polite. It was a very good experience from start to finish. They sent someone to assess the property, then I got a call from Cosy homes, extra insulation would be installed to bring up to new spec. After this they installed solar panels to make house more efficient. In my case I didn't have any central heating just a gas fire. Cosy Homes then arranged for my house to get heating. At every stage they arranged installation dates to suit, after the work they sent inspector to check all the work n if necessary call contractor back to fix. Its well worth applying and nothing to lose by asking. Highly recommend. First class service start to finish.
