My mom is 86 years old

My mom is 86 years old. We’ve been branching at the CIBC in North Yorkshire and mall for the past 50 years. They had sent her a text message when using her card and she didn’t reply because she doesn’t have a cell phone so they blocked her account three days before Christmas. I went to the branch to show them that I am her son power attorney and joint account with her paper is made by Lowyer and doctors. They said they can’t do anything that I would have to bring her in. She’s blind and she can’t walk so they told me to make an appointment with one of the managers which I did. I went in and spoke with him gave him all the paperwork which was in order. They said I have to wait another four days to see if they can do anything so as of now she has no access to her account. It’s been five days after Christmas now it’s ridiculous How CIBC treats their elderly people, especially the ones that are incapable of banking with them and have power attorneys authorized to them I feel sorry for the elderly, especially the ones that have no one that can speak for them.

What is this for a bank?

Had to move bank accounts from TD in a hurry and chose CIBC which I am really regretting at this point..

In two months I have had nothing but stress and delays and confusion with this bank.. In particular using their TFSA where trying to transfer funds or speak with anybody on a phone is like pulling teeth..
EVERYTIME I have called to have questions answered about my account I have waited a minimum of 45minutes often more than an hour..

Today the "expected wait time" was 120 minutes.... All in order to transfer money I clearly have in my account to the other which stays on never ending pending status for no reason at all..

On the phone here now for another hour trying to just transfer a bit of money for groceries... At TD all of this took a few moments of time... I really regret this whole CIBC experience

CLUELESS AND DISHONEST

Been with CIBC for many years, and it just continues to go down hill. They pull stunts with their fees on accounts and credit cards. The out-sourcing is ridiculous. Nobody has a clue about anything. I just upgraded my credit card and they spent 30 minutes telling me I would not be charged an annual fee for the first year, and not at all if I remain a Tier 2 or 3 client. I see they just charged me the $120 annual fee and are now saying they made no promises not to charge the fee. Bunch of desperate scammers. It’s going to cost them my business. I will now cancel my accounts, investments, and credit cards and go elsewhere. CIBC is one of the worst banks to deal with.

Website somewhat confusing

Website somewhat confusing. And they proved to have let their rates fall down from the top competitive tier. But when you want to get your money out they make you go through an elaborate process which just enables them to hold your money longer without paying you interest.

Instead of giving customers the option…

Instead of giving customers the option too press 1 for a call back, they leave you on hold for hours because CIBC is arrogant and doesn't care about keeping it's customers, so if or when they ever pick up the phone I'm closing all my accounts with CIBC!

Two unauthorized debits from my account…

Two unauthorized debits from my account by a company called Golden Nugget. After long wait, customer service advisor who was hard to understand canceled my account and arranged replacement card. New card came promptly to local branch, so good there.

However, money not credited after 1 month. Writing a review after 2.5 hours wait and being transferred twice.

No ability to communicate via email on CIBC website.

Crap customer service for large company and based on reviews its typical. In environment which has a shortage of jobs, it ought to be simple to employ more people. Are the wages and conditions just too crappy to find and retain enough staff?

I had a very disappointing experience and service

Awful and poor service by this branch.

I had a very disappointing experience and service at this branch due to poor service and unprofessional behavior from the branch manager, Robin Ennevor, and FSR Evelyn Zhao.

I attended the branch for an issue that required in-person assistance. The manager made no effort to ask what the issue was or to explain why the service could not be completed. There was no attempt to engage, clarify, or offer an alternative solution. This lack of accountability raises serious concerns about leadership and customer care at this location.

Instead of providing assistance, I was given a phone number and told to call customer service for a matter that cannot be resolved without branch involvement. When I informed FSR Evelyn Zhao that I would be contacting the complaints centre regarding the service received, she wrote down a number, handed it to me, and closed the door without explanation or eye contact. This was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.

Shortly afterward, the manager entered her office and left without acknowledging me or attempting to resolve the issue. At no point was a clear explanation provided as to why the requested service could not be completed.

This branch is also very difficult to contact. Phone calls go unanswered, voicemails are not returned, and appointments take months to secure. The only time contact was made was after a complaint was escalated, which felt more like an attempt to show that “contact” occurred rather than to resolve the issue.

I felt singled out for raising concerns and treated poorly as a result. This level of service is unacceptable and not how clients should be treated.

From a call to update an account to getting it closed.

Calling just to update a phone number on file to a new one since the old number is no longer in service. This cannot be done online, must call and been on hold for over 1h1/2 and no end in sight. Looks like the call will change from phone number update to account closing and would have rated zero if it was possible. Taking my business where they deserve it.

Sitting on hold for 1 hr 28 min I thought I'd write a review about the quality of service I'm getting while listening to crappy music as it repeats every 20 seconds followed by a voice that apologizes for the long wait.
How do these companies expect us to be so inconvenienced and disrespected without blasting the poor hard working (okay that's a stretch) people on the other end of the phone if or when they answer? How do these companies get away with this? It's horrible!!! I've now been in hold 1 hr. 40 min...

Customer service is virtually non…

Customer service is virtually non existing, I am on hold for 1hour 23 min, periodically a voice is heard but than music again. Believe CIBC does this intentionally to pretend an agent is answering to hide the shortage of support agents. The federal government should step in and dictate that CIBC provides customer service as part of the privilege to obtain a banking licence

To cancel my credit card

To cancel my credit card, I've been on hold for more than 1hr each time. Collectively over 5 hours now. They let me hold for 20 mins, someone randomly comes on between music and call my name once, and despite me yelling "here!! here!!!" they put me back on hold again with no end in sight. 0 stars. completely unacceptible.

CIBC 'customer service' is appalling

Just experienced absolutely appalling service from CIBC 'Customer Service' regarding a global money transfer issue. Was lectured to by the 'agent' who had no appreciation of the difficulties I've had in dealing with CIBC and who showed no empathy and who had no EQ.

Travelling internationally for vacation, alerted CIBC, alerted Fraud Department. Visa and debit cards shut down every day of my trip so far. Wait times for Fraud department were over 2.5 hours each day. No callback option, cards worked for another few hours and then shut down by fraud department again. Worst financial institution in Canada. They don't care about your time and what they offer is definitely not customer "Service".

I’d give them no stars if I could

I’d give them no stars if I could. Mostly to do with their credit department, being on hold for 2 hours and then being transferred 7 times to wrong departments and useless help! The staff at the bank were fine but have no ability to actually help with credit. All they say is basically, too bad for you. They keep you locked into high interest depts even though there’s other available more suitable credit products and give you no assistance even in times of emergency, unlike TD which is helpful, quick and respectful. Absolute shit service. Switch banks while you still can!
