4 of us went to watch Ovo in Liverpool. I’ve been wanting to go and see one of their shows for so long so I was really looking forward to it as it was also my birthday. I walked out feeling extremely disappointed. The story was confusing and it was like watching an episode of the teletubbies! I was expecting to be wowed throughout but honestly I was bored. I kept waiting for the show to really kick in! When it finally got to a point of feeling like the show was starting, it ended!!
These are meant to be the world’s best but they really didn’t deliver on this one. It’s now put me off ever going to see any other shows.
If you’re thinking of going to Ovo I’d honestly say give it a miss and go to a different one in the hope that it’s better!

The acrobatics were amazing, but that’s about it. The filler acts were boring, there were random characters walking around stage with no real story line. The clown didn’t talk which was strange. It was an OK night but I’ve got no desire to return to another show anytime soon.

Booked what were classed premium tickets to the show in Melbourne April 2024 at almost $500 for my wife and I.
We hadn't been to a Cirque De Soleil show for about 8 years so treated ourselves as the last one we saw blew us away.
The seats we ended up with were only 1 row back from the stage but were cheap and nasty fold up seats crammed touching each other and we felt like sardines. There was nothing premium about the set up and we had sore necks from having to look up to the stage. The show itself had some skilled performances but was basically acrobatics and no where near as impressive as the show we had seen in the past. The food and drink on sale at the venue was disgraceful with a red wine in a tiny plastic cup costing $16AUD as an example. The food was basically pies, sausage rolls, and popcorn also massively overpriced.
The queues to the toilets at intermission were also unbelievable.
Our advice is to save your money as the whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths and we will never go to one of these shows in the future.

Decided to go to a Cirque du soleil show for the first time ever. I went to the Luzia show at Flemington race course in Melbourne 2024. I was not forewarned beforehand about the $25 on-site parking on the grass. No info about the fee on the website. That's kinda steep. The show had a 2-3 good acts. I have seen other circus shows that weren't Cirque du soleil but I feel like those are better than this one. Don't get me wrong costume, sound stage props and lighting were amazing but the acts themselves except 3 acts overall eg contortion (which was amazing =) ). The other acts were were lacking. There was no doubles on apparatuses overall. Only one doubles act the end.

We took 2 sets of grandchildren to see these shows. The first was as at The Albert Hall, and completely blew us away! Then we took the second group to the O2. What a disappointment! The show died just a few minutes from the end. Everything in darkness and NO EXPLANATION!! We left feeling very downhearted. We will NOT hurry back.

Me and my partner just returned from Cirque du Soleil: OVO show in Manchester and I don’t know where to even start.

As Cirque du Soleil is well known troupe across the world and the performance expectations were very high. But boy oh boy how badly I would be disappointed. Honestly the whole performance must have been only slightly better than the shows in all inclusive Turkey hotels which is very disappointing.
The price of the tickets were astronomical. We payed £140 for 2 but I would not have payed more than £20.
The main storyline was very childish and unnecessary. The performance of acrobatic performers was ok, but all the filler acts just ruined the whole experience.

Honestly save the money and go do better things. I wish I would have booked a nice restaurant instead than gone to OVO show.

I wish we could get money back!

Very disappointed. Offer discounted tickets and then won't honour the discount. Really expensive compared to other touring circuses so have never been able to justify buying a ticket. Tried to buy via their link at discounted price and couldn't complete purchase. Phoned them and they wouldn't honour the discount, claiming offer was only for couples. This was NOT stated in promo offer.
Emailed them and they didn't even have the courtesy to reply.

Who can afford to spend $1000 decent seats for the family? This is a circus for the wealthy - not the everyday person.

Melbourne Flemington Racecourse.. No advice before re parking. we rang but no one got back to us. We did get an email saying they didn't know at time of sending email. On arrival $25.00 for parking. Outrageous. Parking is free on race days. Started nearly a half an hour late, there was no air-condition till the doors were closed. So very very uncomfortable and the day was not exceptionally hot. WHY DIDN'T they shut the doors at 3.30pm. that says it's ok to come late, we will wait for you.
The queues for the toilets at interval were unbelievable not enough toilets. Even the security person I spoke with was taking photos to report situation. All up a very badly organized event.

We have seen "Ovo" in Antwerp last week.
Good job from acrobats, but story of show itself is boring, more like kids theatre show. And story/singing/acting parts are longer then acrobatic acts. Whole show felt like waiting for "wow" moment but unfortunately didn't happen.
Its ok, nice to see, but no value for this price (120€).

I've just read all the 1 star reviews of Cirque du Soleil's Alegria at the Royal Albert Hall, and I agree with every word. I spent nearly £400 on 2 tickets and I would have felt like I'd been fleeced if they'd cost me £10. The show was the worst, by far, Cirque show I have ever seen, which must number 6 or more now. If this was a product, I would be able to claim my money back as it had been missold in a number of ways. So disappointing, I don't even know where to begin, and I certainly will not be going to another.

This was my first time to see Cirque du Soleil and I am not quite sure what to say to be honest. Acrobatics were just breathtaking, especially the trapeze. The clowns were just over the top and frankly annoying, I came to see the acrobatics not that annoying lot. As for the Royal Albert Hall, I find the whole experience absolutely disgraceful. I have been charged 10% 'service charge' and I ended up sitting on a chair with -10% incline so I have spent the whole evening trying not to slide off it. 10% 'service charge' is an absolute disgrace considering the service RAH provided. As for the Cirque, more acrobatics (10/10) less annoying clowns please.

So disappointing. My expectations was I would be seeing a show with acrobatics not clowns and people walking round a stage making silly noises and doing nothing.

It is worth appreciating the teamwork, exciting costumes and sculpture of the artists' bodies. However, Alegria is a show that differs from the brilliant Luzia show that I watched in 2022.

The Luzia show was considered one of Cirque du Soleil's more innovative and visually stunning shows, drawing inspiration from Mexico's cultures and landscapes.

Unfortunately, Algeria is an artistic show befitting a class c passenger ship.

It was a performance dominated by French mimes, perfect for a children's party, and the repeated vocalisations were not enough to arouse my admiration as before.

Went to Allegria last night and loved it. Amazing acrobatics, singer & marvellous show. Definitely worth it to go but it’s not suitable for children in my opinion.

A Disheartening Night Out at Cirque du Soleil Bazzaar

Attending a Cirque du Soleil show usually promises an evening of awe-inspiring performances that blend artistry, acrobatics, and storytelling into a mesmerizing spectacle. However, my recent experience at their Bazaar show, known for its ambitious attempt to recreate the magic of Cirque in a more intimate setting, was far from what I had eagerly anticipated. From the onset, the combination of high expenses and physical discomfort significantly marred the overall experience.

The financial aspect of the evening was the first to set a disappointing tone. The admission cost of $100 per ticket felt justified for what one would expect from a Cirque du Soleil performance. However, the additional expenses quickly accumulated, beginning with a $20 parking fee, which, while not uncommon for event spaces, added an unexpected increase to the night's budget before even stepping inside the venue.

Once inside, the decision to purchase refreshments led to further dismay. The price for two drinks came to a staggering $48, a figure not inclusive of a tip, which seemed exorbitant even by event venue standards. Together with a $20 charge for basic snacks like popcorn and nachos, the total cost for merely a modest attempt at enhancing the evening with refreshments felt disproportionately high.

Yet, the financial aspects paled in comparison to the discomfort experienced due to the venue's seating arrangements. The seats were packed so closely together that maintaining personal space was impossible. My leg was uncomfortably pressed against the person next to me throughout the show, a situation far from conducive to relaxation or enjoyment. The cramped conditions also made it impossible to adjust seating positions or even cross one's legs, further detracting from the experience.

The performance itself, while eagerly anticipated, did not live up to Cirque du Soleil's renowned standards. The small stage appeared to limit the performers' ability to execute the expansive, awe-inspiring acts that fans have come to expect from Cirque shows. This constraint led to a performance that felt subdued and lacked the usual dynamism and immersive spectacle, leaving me and, presumably, others feeling underwhelmed.

In reflection, the evening at Cirque du Soleil's Bazzar was overshadowed by high costs, uncomfortable seating, and a performance constrained by its physical and logistical limitations. While the artists' talent was evident, the overall experience failed to capture the enchanting magic that Cirque du Soleil is celebrated for. For those considering attending Bazaar, it may be wise to weigh these factors carefully. The magic of Cirque is alive and well in many of their other shows, but on this occasion, it seemed dimmed by the practical realities of the experience.

Cirque du Soleil Alegria was excellent, not sure what other reviews were expecting or watching but it was very entertaining, the circus acts were amazing and the clowning around in-between broke it up a bit, fantastic music and the singers had super voices , it takes loads of training and concentration to pull off the skills, well done and don't be put off by the downers, go and see it.

Saw the new Alegria last night - Shockingly bad. Many acts missing, music terrible and too many stupid clowns. Cirque du Soleil has lost the plot. What a waste of money.

I went to watch this with high expectations but spent the whole time waiting for it to get good.. don’t get me wrong there were very talented artists performing but I was expecting far more and felt deflated. I’ve honestly seen more exciting acts at my work Christmas party circus show. Shame as we paid a lot for tickets and were bored by the end. Would not recommend.

Don’t bother. Show dominated by non verbal French clowns more suited to a 5 year old birthday party. The acrobatics who did perform were brilliant, but when you look around at the packed hall the money taken must be astronomical, I’m sure there are many more talented and entertaining performers to fill the show with to offer some value for money.

This has to be the worst Cirque show we’ve seen. Alegria at the Royal Albert Hall was more about the annoying clowns than actual circus acts. We first saw the show in 2001 at Battersea Power station in its last year there and it was incredible. The acts were amazing and the whole performance was and still is the best thing we’ve ever seen. In 2017 we took our children to see Amaluna which wasnt quite what we were expecting as it seemed to have less impressive acts than what we’d previously seen but thought it was ok.
But that’s us done with Cirque now, unless I hear they’ve moved to a bigger location so the acts have more room to perform a better show and they kill off the over the top panto clowns which isn’t what we pay to see!
