I booked a short ride with them and it was confirmed with a quoted fare of £13.00. However I had to pay £18.80 to the cab driver who said all cabs booked through City Cabs are metered. I believe City Cabs Edinburgh deliberately failed to inform me that this was not a fixed fare. When I complained to them they, knowing what they had done was wring, offered me a discount voucher of £5.00 to use against a future booking. I rejected this as I had been overcharged £5.80 in cash and wanted a refund in cahe and not in a voucher that I am not going to use. They have refused to refund me the overcharged amount. A bunch of cowboys to be avoided in my opinion

As taxi drivers are often criticised I feel I have to say what a great experience we have had today . I needed to get to the Western General fairly quickly today with my wheelchair bound husband . The journey there and back was really good with very kind drivers who were so helpful and pleasant . We didn’t have long to wait for a cab either way too . A very good experience. Thank you drivers .

The taxi driver went above and beyond for myself and another lady.who.was 90 and her taxi hadn't showed up after almost 1 hour of waiting at Asda jewel Edinburgh I didn't mind.sharing.and the.driver said no.problem at all to.take the lady and he helped.her.with shopping then did same for.me did not get taxi driver s name.but.reg was sa23 glk can't thank this driver.enougj

We ordered a taxi 48 hours in advance for a Christmas party.
We waited over 45 min after it was supposed to have arrived for our taxi even to be assigned and even then it didn’t turn up

I pre-booked a taxi to Waverley train station and it didn't show at the booked time. When I called they told me it was busy. Really? Well that is exactly why I pre-booked! So I can get a taxi at the time I need it. Useless taxi booking app!

When the driver showed he was apologetic.it was not his fault and he made good time to the station.

Their new app is great but so many technical issues. Customer service NEVER responds ever!!!! been waiting for over a month!!

Edit: they finally sorted things out after two months and endless email chains. I'm happy with the solution.

Extremely poor customer service. I booked 30 minutes in advance of requiring a taxi and was not sent a taxi. When I called to ask where my taxi was it was plainly obvious that they hadn't even tried. No apology. It'd be basic courtesy to inform a customer if you can't provide a taxi in reasonable time. This is why we use Uber....

I would give minus stars to this company. Pre booked taxi to take four of us and a young baby out for an organised meal for my husbands 70th birthday. Taxi contacted us 10 mins before pick up to say they were on their way. 30 mins later no sign of any taxi so I called office number to be told they were trying to find a driver then told they would get one when they could. They had already taken the fare out of the bank. I was livid & its just not acceptable service. Person on the phone could not tell me when they would get a driver. We were now late for my husbands 70th dinner. No option but to cancel & call a rival taxi firm. They were amazing turned up promptly but we were so late that restaurant had given our table away. Thanks City Cabs for being such a **** company. Never again will we use you & you better refund the money you took asap. How dare you treat customers this way. Avoid.

City Cabs has terrible customer serice. Unkind, rude, and quick to blame the passenger, your staff make me never want to recommend City Cabs. I despise speaking with your service team and cannot recommend your company. You've inexplicably managed to hire terrible people in a country full of the loveliest people

Let down again by this firm.
I made a telephone booking giving 3 days’ notice for a simple 5-minute journey from a hotel to a wedding venue. Received a confirmation text.
Called them the day before to confirm and was told they had the booking.
Called again 2 hours before pick to confirm and again was told all ok.
Ten minutes after the booked pick-up time I called to remind them I was going to a wedding and to find out where taxi was.
I was told that they would try and get me a taxi but it will be about 20 minutes.
Totally unacceptable. I then had to take my own car to the wedding to ensure I was not any later than I already was.
No follow up apology by text or by phone.
I definitely do not recommend anybody uses or trusts this company.

Beware!! We were in a group leaving a hotel to go into the city. 2 taxis, one group left first. We didn't have far to go! Second pickup few minutes later, we arrived (2nd taxis) a good few minutes before the first and they got charged over £13 to get to exactly the same destination that cost us just over £6!!!! Avoid black Audi SF19 HRG!!

I pre booked this taxi company a few weeks before my daughters special birthday weekend , to guarantee a taxi would take her from the hotel to the Oasis concert (Scottish Murrayfield), then return after the concert.
The taxi arrived at 4.30 to drop off at the stadium but one never returned after the concert. They were left standing outside the stadium for 25 minutes, luckily another taxi arrived from another company to drop some people off so they got in there.
When she eventually got through to City Cars she was told they were not coming due to road closures!! They knew this as they had dropped her off at the same point they could have collected her from. I have emailed and phoned this company prior to her return to express my upset/disappointment, no one bothered to reply! I have informed the hotel who recommended them of this. Disgraceful!!

Not reliable. Booked and prepayed a transfer from Greenock Cruise Terminal to Edinburgh Airport at 8:am.
I confirmed the day before the transfer.
The cab arrived at 9:40 am. Obviously, the dispatcher has not done his job.

Brilliant service using the app, always use them in Edinburgh, my booking this morning went smoothly as ever and when I made the error of leaving my phone in the cab, the service team and driver worked together to return it to me at my home very promptly. Thank you City Cabs for an exemplary service

I am a visitor to Dundee and was unfortunately recommended downloading the Dundee City Taxis app to get around.
Ordered a cab for the first time on the app. After 25 minutes the map was still showing 5 cabs sitting in the city centre not moving. I gave up and cancelled the trip and had to pay £3 for the privilege of being fobbed off. Never again. App now deleted from my phone. I then called Tay Taxis who arrived within 3 minutes.

We needed a taxi to the airport for an early morning flight and decided to use this "respected" regional service. Despite pre-booking the cab more than 6 hours in advance and receiving an email confirmation no driver showed up. When we called the hotline, the inattentive operator told us to "just wait" and admitted they had no availability. In the end, Uber saved the day. It's baffling why this company offers pre-booking at higher rates than Uber or Bolt when they can't deliver on their promises.

To make matters worse, they tried to charge us £70 for a 15-minute ride on New Year's Eve at Edinburgh Airport, claiming Uber had more than 30-minute wait times. Thankfully, we got an Uber/Bolt in under 5 minutes for less than half the price, just like many others at the pick-up area.

This company is unreliable, overpriced, and unprofessional. Avoid them at all cost.

Avoid... I pre-booked a taxi, three days ahead. Email confirmation, booking showing on the app.
It never turned up!
Phoning just got a recorded message. Never got a message, apology, nothing!

I arrived home at Edinburgh Airport at about 6:30 on New Year's eve. I headed for the parking structure to find an Uber, who were quoting £27 to take me to EH6. On the way iwas approached by a man from City Cabs who said he would take me 'for about £40'. I was willing to pay the extra £13 or so to save the wait on an Uber. Once I was in the cab and we were headed out of the airport he said that the fare would actually be closer to £60 because it was New Year's eve. I was furious but had no choice at that point. He then said I could not use debit card but must pay cash. He stopped at the ATM on Salamander Place and I looked at the meter. It was £60.36. I got £60 pounds out and paid him but he began yelling at me and said that I still owed him £7 because he had to wait for the ATM. I finally managed to get away from him and walk the short distance home. I will call the company and report this but be VERY WARY of this company!!!!

I came on here to report our experience and noticed first it only has 2 star rating. This does not surprise me!
Last night my husband and i, along with 4 other friends attended a wedding in South Queensferry. As it was a saturday night I sensibly (as i thought) pre booked the 6 seater taxi we would require for midnight to take us back to our hotel. Prior to midnight the 3 men in party left the wedding reception slightly early to go outside to be courteous to ensure the taxi wouldnt be held on if it arrived early. At 12.15 i received a call from the company saying a taxi would be with us shortly confirming our booking. By 12.30 a second call was received by this firm saying that they would not be supplying a the taxi i had booked, telling me i should appreciate that it is, after all, a saturday night !!, I pointed out this had been my very reason for booking days before. Our party of six, all pensioners, then had to walk over a mile with no coats and with one in the party crippled in pain waiting for hip surgery. To say we are extremely annoyed and disastisfied being abandoned like that is an understatement. Towards the end of our hike, mostly uphill, a very kind private hire car took pity on the more ‘crippled’ members and took 3 back in his car. He was so sympathetic he didnt even charge. Sadly i dont have his name to thank him…… now that is service Unlike City Cabs Edinburgh.
