Don't go to this garage

Wish I'd read the reviews on Trust pilot first. The ones on their website obviously don't correspond with what's on here!
Bought a second hand car on 26th March. Took it for a test drive and checked over (of course buyer beware) but you expect the car to be in good order.
1 month guarantee is effectively useless but wasn't prepared to fork out for the next level as the garage is not near my residence.
Nearly got home (1 hour) and alarming knocking sound on the brakes. They said take it to your garage. My garage said the brake discs they'd replaced were 'cheapest of the cheap' and they hadn't bothered to clean up the hub before they put them on. My mechanic cleaned them up as best he could. Then the engine warning light came on. We took it to another garage. A sensor but needed more looking into. Then the brake noise started again. My husband had to drive it back to Peterborough -they mentioned getting better quality brake discs to put on.
They didn't. They redid the same ones. Engine light still on so now waiting for another date to get that fixed with own garage. And they didn't refund my husband for the first visit to the garage which they said they would. We don't recommend this garage.

PLEASE READ

PLEASE READ – IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING THIS GARAGE

I purchased a black Volvo XC90 from this garage on 29 October 2025 for over £20,000. Almost immediately after collection, the vehicle developed several faults—issues that should not be present in a car at this price point, even second-hand.

The few faults prompted us to book a full inspection as it looked like a deeper issue was present. The inspection was carried out by a Volvo main dealer, and their report—shared directly with City Motors—confirmed multiple dangerous faults requiring urgent attention. Volvo also confirmed that at least one of these faults should have resulted in an MOT failure. This is extremely concerning, as GM City Motors had issued the car a fresh MOT just before we collected it.

When I raised these findings, the representative we dealt with, Kam, dismissed Volvo’s assessment, claiming “Volvo are lying to you; they just want your money.” Throughout multiple phone calls, Kam was confrontational, intimidating, and highly unprofessional—talking over me, refusing to listen, and putting words in my mouth. My concerns were consistently dismissed.

The garage refused to repair the vehicle, so we agreed to return it. Despite owning the vehicle from 29 October to 20 November, the garage never submitted the V5C, meaning we were never legally registered as the owners. This alone is unacceptable.

City Motors then took 13 days to process our refund, despite knowing we urgently needed the funds to purchase another vehicle. The refund was eventually sent by simple bank transfer and arrived instantly—proving that the extended delay was unnecessary and felt deliberately punitive.

The worst part of this experience occurred when I visited the garage with my toddler to return the keys and complete the refund. The situation quickly became hostile. One of the owners shouted at me after I said I would hand over the keys once the refund was confirmed—something any reasonable customer would do. He threw the paperwork back at me, told me to “come back another day,” and continued to intimidate me even after I asked him repeatedly to step away. He made me cry in front of my son and mocked me for it, calling me a “baby.”

Other staff witnessed this and did nothing. Kam eventually appeared but did not intervene—he simply gestured for Sufyan to process the refund and then avoided me entirely.

This was one of the most distressing customer service experiences I have ever had.

While other customers’ experiences may differ, based on everything I went through, I cannot recommend this garage. If you choose to buy a car here, please proceed with extreme caution and double-check everything before committing.

Awful company

Awful company, please avoid.
During a service they told me my tyre had a deep cut down to the cord and wanted to charge me £150 to replace. I took the tyre to 2 different specialist tyre garages both who advised there was nothing wrong with the tyre. I am still awaiting a refund despite being told that I had been misinformed and that I DID NOT REQUIRE A NEW TYRE!!! Please be careful that they do not rip you off!!

purchased a car from this company and

purchased a car from this company and, unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing. Within just three months, the car has already been in the garage and is now headed for another major repair. I would not recommend this company — their practices feel dishonest and untrustworthy."

Mo Razwan is a liar

Ok so where do I start? Firstly I will say that whilst I didn’t purchase my car from City Motors, I did buy my car from their sister company Motor Express. Mo Razwan is one of the directors / employees for both businesses. April 2021 I purchased my Mazda CX-5 from Motor Express, I was assured it had had a full service and MOT. The day I collected the car it went into limp mode, this would have been apparent at the time of servicing and driving the car between dealer and garage, but Mo seemed shocked by what I had told him. Car was taken straight back to garage where it had been “serviced” to be told that there seemed to be an issue with the turbo. 3 weeks later I was advised a new turbo had been fitted. Collect my car, get it home to then notice a few days later it had an oil leak. I take the car to my own local mechanic who advised the turbo was possibly leaking from one of the seals, this was then repaired but the leak was from the sump not the turbo. Fast forward to July 2021 and the car goes into limp mode again, 6 weeks later I was eventually told the 2nd turbo had been replaced. The car was returned to me without the top or bottom engine covers and I was promised on numerous occasions that I would receive these through a courier. Fast forward again to November 2021 and I’d chased my engine covers again to be told that the business has been closed down and that I would not get my engineer covers. In January my car stopped and with several red warning lights on the dash, died on the fast Lane of the A1 motorway. I was on my home with my daughter who had been poorly in hospital. RAC attended and advised that it was highly likely my engine had blow up. Upon further inspection by the local Mazda dealer, it transpired that the timing chain had perished and made its way into the internals of the engine and rendering it useless. Mazda advised that upon checking the digital service record, my car had NOT been serviced by motor express because if they had, they would have seen that the timing chain needed replacing. Because of Mo’s complete lack of any morals he has allowed myself and my children to be driving around in a car that was clearly not road worthy from day one. Mo has refused point blank to accept any responsibility and even having the audacity to question why the finance company were winding up the finance. I am now without a car, I’m a single parent with 2 children yet I’m having to still pay the finance every month until the finance is wound up. I’ve suffered with severe mental health trauma over all of this stress and uncertainty and I cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel. MO RAZWAN YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. I’m clearly not the only person you have deceived. If I could give you minus stars I would.
