You could not have been any more helpful or patient!
Jane was very well informed and understanding with all my foot issues, i was made to feel comfortable and welcome, despite me trying so many different styles and sizes.
At one point I apologised for being a troublesome customer and Jane straight away reassured me that it was important I decided on the right product for me. As a result I won’t go anywhere else for my footwear.
Thank you again

Daniel is absolutely fab with kids!

Daniel in the shop in Blackburn Mall was so helpful and patient with my son who changed his mind multiple times about what he wanted to try on. He also engaged well with my daughter who can talk the hind leg off a donkey! Daniel even taught my son a new way to do up laces. Such a lovely staff member, absolutely brilliant with kids and a credit to the company. I hope his efforts are recognised and we did manage to leave with a new pair of school shoes which is a win in my book!

15th November not a good day for BM

I visited the Blackburn store at 5pm on the Saturday. Manager was simply not interested in me or the customer journey. On reflection was rude to my 13 year old because of the way he was standing. This branch manager needs to revisit the refund and exchange policy and then apply it FAIRLY. Similar to a review placed in the last few days - only difference being that I didnt visit Preston and instead chose to contact head office. My child has been growing out of Clarks shoes for 13 years - none of them have had stitching come away as a result of it. This manager decided the shoe was damaged due to growth (when my child's foot hadnt grown!) and wasnt willing to consider other forms or reasons for damage. The junior staff need to be shown more respect in store as well by management instead of being told what to do ALL the time.

Manager Danielle at Blackburn Clarks, would benefit from further training in the fundamental standards of courtesy and professional conduct.

I am writing to make a formal complaint about both a faulty pair of school shoes purchased for my daughter and, most importantly, the unacceptable treatment I received from the store manager, Danielle, at your Blackburn branch on 17/11/25. On 23/08/25, I purchased a pair of Clarks school shoes for my daughter from the Preston town centre store for £48.00. On 17 November 2025—just twelve weeks later—she returned home with one shoe completely coming away at the side. After more than ten years of buying Clarks shoes for their durability, I was extremely surprised to see such a fault develop so soon. As I had the receipt and the Blackburn store is closest to my home, I went there immediately after school. The assistant manager looked at the shoes but said he needed a second opinion. When the manager, Danielle, came over, she barely examined them. Without checking the receipt, confirming the date of purchase, asking questions about wear, or gathering any relevant information, she abruptly insisted that my daughter’s feet had grown and that this was the cause of the damage. This was despite my clear explanation that the shoes were only twelve weeks old and that there had been no indication her feet had grown during that period. When I tried to calmly ask for clarification, as I felt confused, she spoke over me, again loudly and forcefully, saying “it’s policy” and “there’s nothing you can do.” Her manner was unnecessarily intimidating. The assistant manager observed but said nothing. Her responses made no sense to me, given that I was simply trying to understand Clarks’ policy and explain what had happened. When I tried to mention the insoles I was made to buy, she responded condescendingly, repeatedly emphasising the word “make” several times firmly (“no one can make you buy anything”), exaggerating it with tone and head movements that felt designed to embarrass me. I was only trying to explain that the shoes were slightly large at purchase and that I had followed staff advice and purchase insoles. Instead, she belittled me in front of my children, and other customers. Feeling humiliated and dismissed, we left the store without any help or guidance. Still needing the matter resolved before school the next day, I contacted the Preston Deepdale store. Their manager immediately explained the correct procedure: inspect the shoes, assess the damage, re-measure my daughter, and compare the measurements to the original fitting. I did not mention my Blackburn experience to avoid influencing her assessment. I drove to Preston at 5:45pm—an unnecessary journey caused solely by Blackburn’s refusal to follow the basic process. My daughter was measured and found to be the same size as at purchase (3.5F and 4F); the damaged shoe was a 4F and therefore the correct size. The Preston manager confirmed that the damage was due to the shoe itself, not my daughters feet. She also mentioned that this particular model had been returned several times before. She clearly explained the indicators of accidental versus manufacturing damage and gave helpful advice. Her professionalism and courtesy were everything I expected from Clarks. The contrast between the two stores was stark. Preston provided respect, clarity, and expertise. Blackburn made me feel humiliated, dismissed, and deeply uncomfortable.
Given the seriousness of this incident, I expect: 1. A formal written apology for the behaviour and tone used by the Blackburn manager, including raising her voice and speaking to me in an intimidating manner in front of my children and other customers. 2. Acknowledgment that incorrect information was given by both the manager and assistant manager, and that correct procedures for assessing faulty shoes were not followed. 3. Confirmation that Danielle will receive appropriate training, particularly in customer service, communication, and handling of faulty products. 4. Assurance that other customers will not experience similar treatment, and that this incident will be taken seriously at a managerial level. I wonder how many customers have faced Danielle and her poor service. As a long-standing and loyal Clarks customer, I am extremely disappointed. The behaviour at the Blackburn store fell far below acceptable standards and caused unnecessary distress, embarrassment, and wasted time. This incident also had a clear emotional impact on my children. My daughter was upset at being spoken about as though she were at fault, and both children were unsettled by the hostility they witnessed from an adult in a position of authority. No child should be exposed to this level of confrontation in a retail environment. I expect a prompt response outlining what actions will be taken. Cus Care 1022774 & Exchange No 117253124
