Trustpilot Review – Clarks Outlet Spalding
Visited Clarks Outlet in Spalding (Springfields Factory Outlet) to buy my 17-month-old granddaughter her very first pair of shoes.
Although a purchase was made, the experience was soured by the behaviour of a store assistant. During the interaction she referred to my granddaughter as “it”, saying “bring it over here to be measured”.
That is unacceptable in any setting, let alone a children’s shoe shop that markets itself as family-focused. No apology was offered, and the attitude throughout was poor.
We will not be returning to Clarks. There are plenty of retailers who understand basic respect and customer care.

However, I note that your reply does not directly acknowledge the issue raised. This was not a general service concern, nor a matter of tone or misunderstanding. A 17-month-old child was referred to as “it”.
That is not something resolved through generic references to training and support. It raises a more fundamental question about judgement and values in a role that involves working with children.
As I have stated elsewhere, I am not seeking punishment. I am seeking reassurance that Clarks understands why this is unacceptable and that meaningful steps are taken to ensure it never happens again.
That reassurance cannot come from vague assurances alone.
