I was called on my cell phone, which is on the Do Not Call list. The caller said the call was because of my energy company meter, then that this was part of a state program for solar energy. I asked to know the name of the company she was calling on behalf of, and she said Clean Energy Movement.
I've gotten so many calls from energy companies that try to imply they are from the state that I told her, "You can't imply you're with the state." She quickly insisted she hadn't, then said she was calling "as part of" the state program. That's being deliberately misleading. I told her I wouldn't do business with them if they couldn't send me written information about their offers. She talked over me.
I told her to take my number off of their list and that they can't call me with marketing solicitation in the first place since I'm on a cell phone and on the Do Not Call registry. She talked over me, and I hung up.
It's incredibly difficult to find any real information on their company. Their website is blocked by my company's security, and the site doesn't have names, addresses, DBAs, or anything.
I'd be VERY wary of doing business with a company that operates this way.

Called twice stating the work with Illinois Energy to select customers that have had their meters updated to wireless meters. They are going to have an account manager in the area to stop by and provide info for a free solar system with battery backup to be installed paid by the state of Illinois and would qualify for 30% federal deduction. Want to schedule for the account manager to evaluate what can be installed and discuss the system.
I asked about more details regarding the system and was unable to provide, she only sets appointments. I asked how long they have been in business, she stated 7 years. Searched business name on BBB with no result. Searched the Illinois business identity site and no business exists under this name. She stated she doesn't know why it would not be registered and I was told to call the number on the website to verify it's a real business. If I wanted more info she needs to set appointment for the account manager to stop by or have a zoom meeting with one. Had no literature to send, only the website which is generic in nature.
