Stay away!!!

Stay away!!! If I could give zero starts I would. Their website is very misleading, advertising one price but then charge you 6x more! When questioned they seemed to send you automated responses, stating their prices are on their website. I didn’t even receive the invoice, as they claimed they apparently sent it to me by email. Checked my emails and spam folder, invoice nowhere to be found. I only found out by looking at my card statement and was in a shock! Watchdog notified and encourage everyone else to do so.

Do not use

I used ClearChecks recently to conduct a background check for a nanny that I am hiring. I paid $69 for a comprehensive check that includes Federal records search.

A few hours after my applicant submitted their info, I got notified that all their data was Cleared. However, the applicant called me to let me know that accidentally they entered the wrong information for SSN. (They ended up copying their phone number into the SSN field).

I contacted customer support and explained that the applicant made an error - but I was surprised that the system Cleared it. They then informed me that they just do a SSN trace without verifying whether it matches the name and address of the person submitting the info. So in fact, you could enter any random SSN and still get passed as long as the SSN is valid.

This makes me lose trust in the validity of their verification process. I have worked on KYC products in the banking context. If there is a SSN mismatch - the practice is to ask the user to enter the information again. Regardless, you shouldn't be getting a Clear report for an invalid SSN.

Secondly, I requested customer service to let the applicant run the check again with the correct info. They refused to do so, and asked me to purchase another background check report. The customer support rep was curt and unhelpful - and didn't really engage in actually resolving the situation. What surprised me more was that this person is the head of customer support at the company.

I wouldn't use this company again for background verifications. There are several options out there and they don't deserve your business.

Do not use this company.
I wanted to get a DBS check for the UK in July 2022.
They charged £73 but never got beyond 50% on their own status tracker. I never got a certificate, but didn't need one so didn't bother chasing them. Nearly two years later I noticed they have been charging £8 a month for their "Premium" web service, which I din't want, wasn't aware of, never logged onto, and can't get any benefit from: e.g. you get one "free" check per year. Since the first one didn't work out it's difficult to see how a free mess-up annually would be worth £8 a month. They also don't charge using a direct debit - instead it it a manual call off initiated from their end every month. You can't cancel the charge on your bank app, and the bank won't cancel or refund. They say you must ask clearcheck for a refund.

Paid £99.38p for the check they ask for documents which was provided and with a physical evidence check include only for them to return asking for additional information.

Afterwards I went on government network to get the DBS for £18, I asked them for refund which they agreed but they gave me £25 refund can you imagine that from £99.39.

I am flabbergasted.

They are a total SCAM

They are a total SCAM. They charged me £98 just because I started to fill their form by error. I didn't submit any documents so they couldn't do any check and told them immediately that I don't need them. Be aware!!!!
When I told them that they should give me back my money they refunded only £20.

Tried to cancel this quickly when I realised the inflated cost, total scam wouldn’t give money back, now they are taking more money from my bank, when I try to contact them they don’t reply saying I asked for annual subscription ( total crap) just a scam company ripping people off.

Scam company

Scam company. Pretend to provide service for checking your legal records. Upon engaging with them I was asked to pay and jump through hoops like we all do. Only to realise these hoops lead to a dead end and your pants down your ankles. Lost over £200
