Total and complete SCAM!!!!! Never signed up They just showed up on my bill and started over charging me !! My bill went from $200 a month to between $800-$900 a month! DO NOT SIGN UP!! They will pretend to send you a renewal notice - that you will never receive- then they will jack your price WAY UP!! This happened to me and I NEVER signed up! I have contacted the Public Utilities Commission about them and they are under investigation WARN YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!!!!

They are a rip off. I tried to renew my contract on their website for months. They were charging me 3 times the going rate for electricity. I finally cancelled them but not after they gouged me for $1000 dollars

Totally agree they are not a good company to deal with. Rate jumped to .29 kw when I was at .07 under contract.

Same experience to the other reviews. They hook you on a relatively low rate, in my case 9 months at $0.1009 kwh. However, when the deal expired they changed the price to $0.4899, that is, 5 times higher! This is also twice the average variable price in the market. Just had a $921 electric bill for 2 people in a 2-bedroom apartment. They don't send any notice or warning about the pending expiration although they have another fixed rate contract with $0.14 rate. Seems to me they are doing this on purpose knowing that it is pretty difficult for the people to time the necessary change. So they just compensate for their relatively low fixed rate as we are on the hook for at least two billing cycles. I recommend to avoid them!

Thieves! I originally signed up with Clearview Energy in 2017 because I wanted to support clean energy. I am now learning that at the end of my first year I was supposed receive a renewal contract for my electrical supplier. I did not receive any such document or email. Because I didn't receive or return a renewal I became a month to month customer. This entitles you to a variable rate. My rate is now 5X what it was when I signed up. We heat w/ gas not electric. There are only 2 people living in our house. My electrical bill was $440.00 and no, we did not have X-mas lights.This is how Clearview treats their good customers. Good Bye!

Unauthorize and cheat company.
I never signed anything I never accepted anything and I noticed they have been on my bills since 2021.
This is nothing but criminal activity they've been taking money out of my account not authorized.

Similar experience to the other reviews. They hook you on a best in market fixed term deal, in my case 6 months at $0.11 kwh. When the deal expired they changed the price to $0.4889 which is 50%+ higher than the market average variable price. Just had a $1000 electric bill for a 4 person family house.
The worst part, they don't communicate the new price and as the bills come in arrears you are hit for the prior month without knowing it. Then as you can't change provider in the middle of a billing cycle it's another month of pain before a switch can happen.
Avoid the same experience!

Same experience as many other people. Quadrupled my rate without even a warning. Will never use them again.

I sighed up for an entry rate of .1199 per khW and had that rate for 3 months. Was very satisfied until I got the bill after the 3 month special. It went from .1199 to .4899 per kWh . My past two bills were $900.00 and my last bill is $1,014.00. This company is definitely a predatory company.I am in the process of dumping them while trying to keep my 90 year old mother warm this winter !! Total scabs, do not do business with this company. Clearview Energy should be ashamed of themselves and how they run a business preying on the average homeowner during this economic climate !!! Boooooooo.....

CLEARVIEW ENERGY IS A SCAM - WATCH YOUR BILLS CLOSELY. MY RATE STARTED AT .061900 AND CLIMBED TO .2499 - MY ELECTRIC BILL WENT TO OVER $500. THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE ASHAME OF THEMSELVES.

We didn't notice the energy supplier had changed on our electric bill until our rates started jumping from the 17c it had been for a year to 32c then to 49c at which point we called the supplier, Clearview energy.
They say we signed up for one year contract which they can't provide a copy of or say how it was switched. The customer rep said once our contract was complete we were on a monthly basis, and basically they could charge whatever they wanted. Plus we can't change until the month is over, so god knows what we will be paying next month. She kept repeating that they had sent us a letter with the renewal notice and rate changes and because it wasn't sent back to them we must have recieved them....we didn't get any such mail!
Definitely illegal in RI, we will be contacting our general attorney.

Stay away from Clearview Energy. Their initial offer is "too-good-to-believe", and once you're in a contract their rate will go up as high as 400%. Mine started at $0.17 and went to $0.50 which was absurd at best. Additionally, customer service is terrible, which is not a surprise given that all they are doing is de-frauding their customers.

This company signed me up for a plan I never authorized. I called them to explain what happened and the customer service person was outride rude to me.

This company is the biggest scam out there. Be careful if you're interested in signing up with them. I had signed up for a 1-year contract. When that contract ended, my rate escalated to nearly .30/kwh, leaving me with a nearly $1,000.00 electric bill for the month. I offered to sign back up with them, but they would not adjust the bill. I then called my local supplier to sign back with them, but found they could not change providers in the middle of the billing period, meaning I had to pay an additional month of nearly $1,000.00 before the change would take effect.

Based on my own experience with these scam artists, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH Clearview Energy. They will rip you off and there's nothing you can do about it.

Clearview Energy canvased our neighborhood in March 2021. My SO answered the door and felt pressured to agree to switch. When I read the reviews here and BBB, I had her call up and cancel out in what I thought was a typical 48 hour reneg window. The customer support agent seem to indicate on the call that we had a right to do that and that our request was granted. Around 18 months later when our electrical bill skyrocketed last month I looked deeper (since it is on autopay) into the bill an found that to my dismay Clearview Energy was the Electrical Supplier, and the rate had started to go up gradually in March, but doubled to an eye-watering $.48990/KWh. Dumping them and they better not try to charge me for any termination fee. Oh and to make matters worse, their customer support number listed on the bill, doesn't answer and the voicemail is "full".

I would give 0 stars if possible. Competitive rate for a while, then boom, my bill was 4X!!! .48990 per kWh generation. STAY AWAY.

Clearview energy is the worst, they sign you up for a 12 month promo and then take advantage of you, they raised my rate 4x. They refuse to refund you and they try to sell you on a rate that is worse than market. They do not care that you cant afford it because their CEO can line his pocket with money of struggling Americans. This company is one you would find in a third world country, praying on the most vulnerable group of people. They are the scum of this earth and should be avoided at all costs. Reach out to your Attorney General and report this scam of a company so they can stop making Americans cold in the winter and hot in the summer.

Very bad company who preys on elderly. Rates were increased without notice and no recourse.

Same as many others here I was not told when my contract ended. I couldn't believe how much they overcharge. And don't bother calling.....they will give you no resolution or refund. Worst company ever. It should be illegal what they do.
