I paid privately for James Osborne to represent me at a serious family hearing. In my view, the service fell well below an acceptable standard.

Key evidence and submissions were not properly used, important points were missed, and material assertions from the other side/Local Authority were left unchallenged. This was not a minor tactical disagreement — it had real consequences in highly sensitive proceedings involving my children and home.

I raised concerns immediately and then made a formal complaint. I was told the complaint outcome would be provided by 15 March 2026, but that deadline passed without a substantive response.

Given the cost, seriousness of the case, impact on me, and poor complaint handling, I cannot recommend James Osborne / The Barrister Group.

Avalon Oates has been excellent in trying to find us a barrister for an upcoming hearing. Oliver Dixon represented me in a complex property and land dispute which had been ongoing for a considerable period of time. From the outset, he demonstrated an exceptional understanding of the law, attention to detail, and ability to deal with highly technical issues clearly and effectively.

Throughout the proceedings, Oliver remained professional, approachable, and extremely thorough. He took the time to fully understand the background of the matter and was always well prepared. His advocacy in court was outstanding, particularly in relation to difficult areas involving equitable interests, actual occupation, and property law.

What impressed me most was his ability to analyse large amounts of evidence and present the key points in a calm, clear, and persuasive manner. He was also honest and realistic throughout, which gave me confidence in both his advice and representation.

The outcome achieved was extremely positive, and I am very grateful for the work Oliver put into the case. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone requiring a barrister who is knowledgeable, hardworking, and highly capable in complex civil and property disputes.

I cannot recommend Harpreet highly enough. My case was a very complicated mould and damp dispute involving my tenant, Mr Khan, and it ran across four separate hearings. Throughout the entire process, Harpreet was an incredible support and never lost sight of the main goal — winning the case.
From the very beginning, he took the time to fully understand every detail, carefully reviewed all the evidence, and built a strong and well-structured defence. His representation in court was exceptional. I was genuinely amazed today by the way he presented the defence — he was confident, thorough, sharp, and covered every possible angle without missing a single point.
Compared to the other barrister, who often rambled, repeated himself, and lacked clarity, the difference between them was like day and night. Watching Harpreet present our case gave me real confidence. His preparation, professionalism, and advocacy stood out immediately.

Very disappointing experience. The Barrister did not focus on the potential matter I asked him to. He agreed to a follow up call in which he asked me to send more information so that he could assess matters properly and then completely ignored requests for feedback. I felt it was all about getting paid and then doing as little as possible

Chowdhury went beyond my expectations in delivering outstanding service. Even more than what I had planned to put forward to courts. He completely had my best interests in mind and pushed even whilst facing objections and obstacles, from what I believed was a difficult situation.

Paul Dipre was beyond comprehension of his straight talking and ability to quantify the risks to us, he went in my opinion far beyond what I would expect. We spoke on Teams less than 24 hours before a three day trial and I honestly believe he did not sleep to understand a very obvious case to us, but a very complex situation to someone that had not lived through the nightmare we had lived for seven years. He then continued to both question and support us through the trial, acting in a rediculously professional manner as opposed to our opponents. Bad experience altogether. I was massively overcharged for drafting a letter and then the barrister didn’t even bother to post the original to me, just emailed me a copy, in spite of my requests.
