Hi Lorraine

I can see you placed an order on our website yesterday on 23 July and chose the free of charge 2-3x day delivery option.

We dispatched yesterday on 23 July and did everything correct our end with the delivery to be expected to take place within 2-3x days.

The courier emailed you a shipping notification, I appreciate the courier indicated the delivery would be today but it turns out they haven't delivered today and weren't obligated to do so seeing as you chose the 2-3x day delivery service.

In this instance there isn't anything else we could have done our end, I would have expected the delivery to take place 25 or 28 July which is the delivery service you chose, sorry that you feel leaving us a 1star review on 24 July is the correct course of action here.

Climachill portable air conditioner

Purchased a portable air conditioner for a whopping £600 from this company 3 years ago. Guess what, the fan motor has become noisy and defective. I spoke to the boss of the company, and he said he'd send me a replacement fan motor free of charge, but I would have to take it to a repair shop at my own cost! Just keep this in mind before you purchase from climachill as they can't support customers in many parts of the UK.

Most people would be delighted when a company offers to send them a replacement part for their machine FREE OF CHARGE considering their item is outside of the warranty period it came with but sadly this wasn't the case here.

Its no secret that for the portable a/c units that we sell on our website on a mail order basis that we offer a 12months parts and labour guarantee and then a further 2yrs parts guarantee that should you need a part within those additional 2yrs we will send it to you free of charge as its all mentioned in the product listing warranty tab and in our terms and conditions of sale.

All you had to do was book a local a/c engineer to visit you and pay them for an hours or so labour to change the part over, instead you started threatening legal action which is all rather unnecessary really - you will spend more on commencing legal action than paying a local a/c engineer which just seems rather silly to me but that's your decision I guess.

I've read a couple of reviews that have…

I've read a couple of reviews that have stated they received poor customer service and I often wonder if that is often mirrored in the manner you approach a problem or complaint.
From my experience, Climachill could not have climbed any higher on the ladder of excellence in all departments.
Firstly, the product is fantastic. It chills incredibly well. I purchased a 12,000 unit for the bedroom and vented it directly through the external wall. It operates within easily manageable decibels to sleep comfortably. My wife even said I had to set it up a couple of degrees warmer after the first night. The relief now in knowing we go to bed in a cooled room.
I also purchased a 18,000 unit for the downstairs lounge. I should add I received both units the following day on standard delivery. I wouldn't guarantee that is the normal but for myself, that was quite unexpected.
Now, the 18,000 unit vented again through the external wall was extremely clunky and noisy. So this is a big unit working hard to remove the warm air without the luxury of having an outside unit to soften the noise, but this was in the region of needing ear defenders. I contacted Climachill and Paul quickly responded with a no nonsense, that needs replacing solution and promptly requested Ella in sales dispatch a replacement. I have now had the replacement and the noise difference is immense. Yes you hear it when it kicks into high gear on full power but I can live with that. It's WiFi. Cool the room before we get home!
Absolute top marks all round. Great machine, great customer service.

Impressive portable air con products

Bought a portable a/c unit ahead of the next load of summer heatwaves. Arrived next business day, well packed, and the unit works brilliantly at cooling the room (and beyond) with minimal set up needed, just as described. Great price for the spec too.

Primarily this is about customer service

Primarily this is about customer service. My portable unit just stopped cooling. Seeing they can supply parts ,as generally these units are just throw away. Give it a go I thought ,some one will be able to help me , loss of gas ,compressor? Dont think you can regas them ?

Sadly I was told no one was there I could speak to ,email in with the part I wanted…but I dont know ,I replied…the young lady really wasnt interested. Email in ,I was told again.

Not their fault it just stopped working on the hottest day of the year . Im just disappointed there was such disinterest on the end of the phone.

I have since bought a cheapo, other make , if I have to buy one a year it will be easier and cheaper.

As an aside its not run very often , and then every couple of hours it gets rested. Ive had units since about 2003 ,never paid so much as this one and its not lasted any longer. Im just a bit sad about the disinterest and lack of help.

Air con is very important as my husband has very severe COPD and the heart failure that goes with it. I was wondering who was going first yesterday, him or the dog…

Thank you for the reply, which is somewhat passive aggressive but in line with the other replys you have given customers who give you less than glowing reviews.

What is the point of mailing in ,as I was asked, with the part I want if I dont know the part I want? I suggest with the greatest of respect you teach your staff to firstly listen when dealing with customers. I repeat how can I mail in asking for a part if I am not sure which part is at fault?

Well quad erat demonstrandum ….you deff lost my custom.

You called and were asking technical related questions as to why the machine may have stopped working, the lady you were speaking to explained she couldn't help with that (she's in a sales role and not a technical engineer role) and she simply asked you to email your technical related query in so that she could get an engineer answer and then someone could get back to you.

You continued to ask her questions she couldn't answer and she repeatedly asked you to email in instead. At the time of your call an engineer wasn't available to speak to you as they were busy, she tried her best to help you but to do that she required you to email us, that way she could follow it up and get back to you.

There wasn't a lack of interest in trying to help you, for some reason you just didn't want to assist the process by emailing us.

I'm sorry someone with a technical related background wasn't able to speak with you when you phoned but it was our busiest day of this year so far yesterday due to the weather and they were engaged when you called.

Great all the way through!

From my initial inspection and assessment of what I needed, through to installation by the absolute lovely and really considerate installation team, even accommodating with ease some changes, and to post-install support, I cannot recommend them enough. Well priced, great work from a wonderful team.

Very poor customer service…

If you’re looking for good customer service steer well clear.
I was going to buy my next portable unit from these after a previous good experience that a friend had.
But, after my friend’s second purchase I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.
My friend had a problem with his purchase and they basically don’t want to know, and tried palming him off.
After my friend's experience, I really do dread to think how their customer service would respond if you had a unit that broke down during the warranty period, probably very badly I guess.
If you speak with them on the phone and have the bad fortune of speaking to Caitlin, you’ll see exactly what I mean.
And don’t believe the lies in climachill’s reply below either.
No customer should be told they have to go and try to retrieve their item from the incorrect address it’s been delivered to, or call the police if they can’t get it.
If a company delivers to the wrong address that’s then their problem to sort out, and not the customers.
I think you’ll find that’s legally correct.

Sadly David your friend had a delivery related issue & was rude and abusive on the phone, we have a zero tolerance here for that which is why we then refused to deal with your friend on the phone and told them to email us going forward.

No-one should have to go to work to have someone shout at them down the phone being rude and abusive - its just not acceptable behaviour and something we won't tolerate.

That's not poor customer service, manners cost nothing and its genuinely surprising that your friend thinks its acceptable to speak to someone in the manner they did on the phone to Caitlin.

Great work!

Lee and Scott added an additional unit for us at our sales and lettings offices in Broadwater. Both were really communicative and were clean and tidy in the way they worked. They also replaced an old external unit and were busy with us all day. They took the time to carefully explain how to operate the remote so that we could use the unit successfully. Great company. Thank you.

Excellent experience - top marks.

I bought an air conditioning unit from Climachill in May 2023. A very efficient and friendly service and excellent unit. But what really blew me away was this year when it wasn't working on first use this summer.
My email to Climachill was answered immediately with simple easy to follow things to check and temperatures to take. After an hour Paul the Director confirmed they'd send a replacement straightaway and tasked the admin team- Brooke- to sort it out.
It's here and working with great communication throughout.

You can tell this is family run, by customer and excellence focussed team members. Top marks all round. Would not hesitate to use them in future for portable units or full installations. Thanks Paul and Brooke.

Good - everything delivered as agreed

Initial discussions and quote were clear & reasonable. Fitting was completed as agreed and team were tidy. We've yet to test the units "in anger" as the summer has passed but expect to use the heating facility in chilly evenings before switching to central heating.
I did, in error, think there was a problem with the installation - the team came out to check which was helpful - no adjustment was required.
One point to note - the required WiFi setup is far from straightforward - if, say, a router was reset or changed this one would need to do this again. This is a Mitsubishi issue, not Climachill, not sure about other makes

I raised a review a couple of years…

I raised a review a couple of years ago, in relation to the way I was treated with ClimaChill. The situation has now come to an end.

ClimaChill responded “Ahh, cant make everyone happy I guess, sadly for us this was a very difficult customer who proved impossible to make happy” they went on to say “Customer complained to the finance company used for this installation, sadly for the customer the finance company sided with us as they could see we had done everything possible to appease this customer and that ultimately the customer was just being unreasonable with their expectations, thus they rejected the customers claim and commented that even they found it difficult dealing with them. There you go I guess.”

This case was taken to the ombudsman service, where ClimaChill have had to pay damages in respect to the damage they caused to my home, they also had to pay a third party to fix the machine which was installed where ClimaChill did not have the expertise of sorting. ClimaChill have agreed to pay £720 in respect of all damages (not that there was a choice). Unfortunately, the finance company or ombudsman did not side with ClimaChill, it was clear the ombudsman has a clear understanding of consumer law and found ClimaChill to be wrong. I am more than sure ClimaChill will not apologise, in fact, I’m pretty confident they will make some kind of excuse as to why the ombudsman ruled against them. My advice would be to use a competent installer that only uses decent equipment.

It is unfortunate that ClimaChill feel it is okay to fit substandard products which do not work. ClimaChill feel it’s okay to brake property, and put huge holes in the wall and not fix them. ClimaChill appear to feel it is okay to call customers liars and refuse to do anything about the problems. The situation has been substantiated by the ombudsman service and finally they have put an end to this situation. It is a shame that ClimaChill refused to sort the situation out.

I would never use ClimaChill in future, there are many other specialists which I have used, who can demonstrate professionalism and fairness. The products from other companies appear to be much better quality too. I was not that hard to make happy, I wanted an air con installed, without damage to the property, I want the air con to work without issue, I don’t think that should be too hard. But if ClimaChill find that this is a problem, then it says a lot about their service.

I would avoid this company, and opt for Camcool, very reasonably priced and fantastic service with top of the range products (not substandard).

Edit -

Have read the review left by ClimaChill which says it all really. £720 in compensation included damages. We asked to quote to fix their damage, naturally they refused even when payment was offered. They spent so much time writing their responses, it’s a shame they didn’t spend as much time righting their wrongs. But the ombudsman made a fair ruling, and the ruling wasn’t not relating to the finance company, but ClimaChill, the were forced to pay £450 to fix the air con machine, £120 for a report and the rest in damages.

In relation to reviews, most people review when things have got bad. I admit, I do expect good customer service when you are paying thousands of pounds. I would also expect the machine not to be broken, or bricks damaged. But I must be ClimaChill’s 0.01% 😂 the company is that big, they can’t even send a repairer and call you a lier.

We have been trading for over 20yrs supplying & installing air conditioning systems predominantly in the Sussex area, we work very hard to ensure all of our customers are happy, 99.9% are happy, we wouldn’t have grown to the size company that we are now if we didn’t have happy customers. Sadly with the volume of customers we deal with there is bound to be the odd occasion that you can’t make everyone happy, Mr Hornsby is unfortunately one of those customers, his Trustpilot review activity shows he’s a customer that often has issues with companies he deals with, with so many issues perhaps the issue is actually Mr Hornsby, will leave that for others to decide.

Yes admittedly this didn’t quite go to plan in that there was some surface brick damage caused during the installation, brick faces can sometimes pop when a drill bit is drilled through, we offered 3x options to the customer to rectify this but they didn’t want any of the options we proposed and became difficult about finding a solution.

A while after installation the customer reported noises to us that they claimed their system was making, we visited twice at no charge and couldn't hear any of the noises they reported to us when we visited. We asked the customer for video proof but they then took this as us calling them a liar, a phrase we never used. It’s not unreasonable to ask for a video of an issue if when we visit we cant replicate the issue they are reporting. A stalemate situation arose, customer demanded us to rectify an issue we had no proof existed and couldn’t replicate when we visited.

Months later customer asked us to service their system, we quoted but customer decided to have another contractor service the system instead. They then informed us the other contractor had found issues with the installation causing the noises reported, we asked for a copy of the other contractors report but customer refused to send it to us, a such we informed customer there wasn't much we could do.

The customer complained to the finance company used to fund the works, they investigated and decided that we had acted fairly, they sided with us stating they too had found the customer to be difficult to deal with in finding an amicable solution confirming we had been presented no proof of the issue the customer was reporting. The customer then complained to the Financial Ombudsman about the way the Finance Company had dealt with the complaint & the issue. I can confirm that the finance company used on this occasion were ordered by the Financial Ombudsman to repay Mr Hornsby a fixed amount as they didn’t agree with the Finance Company, this was a matter between Mr Hornsby & the Finance Company. I can confirm that we haven’t re-imbursed the customer or the finance company any money concerning this and haven’t been instructed to either. We haven't paid any damages, agreed to pay any damages or been instructed to pay any damages to this customer.

With regards to comments about the system, we always present customers with choice, this customer chose the system we installed for them, their only concern was paying as little as possible, we provided a few options to the customer, they had plenty of choice and could have chosen a better quality system with more features than they went for had they paid more but the customer didn't want to pay any more than the bare minimum and they opted for a budget system with budget features as they wanted the cheapest system possible.

I find the comment that they would never use Climachill again peculiar, this customer asked us to quote for further work and to send them brochures to look through, we turned down the request with a polite email saying we would decline the opportunity to quote for any further works and requested they find another contractor going forward, they appear to have done this and I am glad the customer has found a company prepared to work for them and wish the other contractor the best of luck going forward.

AOVID Never received goods and owed over £500

Ordered a portal air conditioner, which has never arrived apparently their courier company tried to deliver 3 times, we were in for 2 of these days. You cannot get hold of anyone on the phone and can only email. I have been back and forth now for the past 5 days trying to get my order, I was then promised that my item would be recalled and a new one sent to me, but this also has not happened. I am now having to contact my back to do a chargeback. AVOID at all costs

TNT/Fedex attempted delivery 3times, we sent customer the tracking proof to show this via email, customer disputed it but the tracking proved courier attempted delivery. There is little we can do in this situation especially when the tracking proves the courier is trying to deliver. After 3x attempts the courier sent the machine back to us. Yes we have been too busy to answer the phones, the answerphone directed you to email us which you did and on average we replied to every email you sent us within 15minutes. You have not had to do a chargeback either, this is false, we processed a refund for you and emailed you the refund slip.

Steer Clear if you value your…

Steer Clear if you value your money, time and nerves.

Had a £15,000 job install with these guys and off the bat we had issues with one of the units being extremely loud and 1 unit literally sprayed water constantly.

Rang them up and guess what? You would need a bigger pump for that unit? Okay surely you would know the needed pump when installing an AC..gave me a red flag as how do you not know what pump is needed for the job? A few engineer visits later and one of the boys managed to do a make shift solution. Thanks I really wanted that after spending 15k.

The other leaking unit got serviced 3 different times over the year we had it installed. Brand new unit. Another red flag for me when a new unit requers so many revisits.

The icing on the cake is I paid £800 extra to have the temperature controlled on my phone and after changing my internet supplier it stopped working. No problem I said these guys will sort it. After being promised this issue will be resolved when our next service is due.Guess what?It hasn`t but after a long back and forth this the company director I`m told if you want that issue to be resolved you have to pay a new call out.

The extent this company is trying to milk you is insane considering there unit are faulty, break down easily and their general response is after taking your money `These are your only options now`.

If you value your time, money and nerves have a look elsewhere.

Sidenote is that the team working for this company are great however their management team is subpar.

Sadly this customer expects us to work for free, we don't, customer changed their wifi router and the units which were all perfectly working before the router change wouldn't connect to the the new router (surprise surprise), customer expected us to visit and sort it out for free which we said wasn't possible and that we would need to charge for an engineer visit. So the units didn't break down easily as stated the issue was created by the customer themselves who then thought we should fix it for free.

Happy customer!

Faced with another heatwave earlier this year I decided to purchase a portable air conditioner. I came across the PAC12K (KYD32) - 12000btu Portable Air Conditioner from Climachill which seemed to tick all the boxes for me. I ordered it the afternoon of the 13th July 22 and it was delivered the next day!
I have had to contact them twice with questions since then and both times response was almost immediate and solved my query.
Great service all round!

I ordered a portable air conditioning unit on Friday 12th August and it was delivered early Saturday 13th.
What a fantastic bit of kit. It really is plug and play. Having suffered the high temperatures of late, the weekend was quite the contrast. The only problem was a very small split in the exhaust hose. Contacted climachill on Monday morning about this. There response was immediate, with a email of apology and news that a replacement was already on its way.
First class customer care and a first class product.
Thank you Paul and the team.

This Makes Life Bearable in Extreme Heat…

I dont cope with extreme heat due to medical reasons. The extreme heat we have been and continue to have makes things very difficult for me.
I decided I wanted a mobile air conditioning unit for my home. Faced with so many to choose from I chose the PAC12K (KYD32) - 12000btu Portable Air Conditioner from Climachill. Partly because it has everything I need and partly because they are UK based and could deliver quickly.
Ordering was super quick. I was kept fully up to date with delivery progress. The unit arrived quickly and bang on date.
The A/C unit was very easy to set up, instructions very clear.
Neat and smart looking.
My only one negative is that it is noisier than stated but not horrendous, I can still hear the TV easily.
I have put the unit in the far corner of my lounge with the hose venting out the nearby window.
This unit has made my life bearable by cooling the room (and most of the downstairs) down) beautifully. Time will show the true running cost.
Overall I am pleased I made the decision to buy.
