Lords Group Plc strategically acquires the trade and assets of CMO Lords, one of the UK’s largest specialist distributors of building materials, announces that it has acquired the trade and assets of CMO Group Limited1 (‘CMO’), the UK’s largest online-only retailer of construction products following a CMO pre-pack administration process (the ‘Acquisition’). The Acquisition brings together Lords’ infrastructure and merchanting expertise with CMO’s digital-first online model and reflects Lords’ continued focus on growth, diversification, and digital innovation in the construction materials distribution sector. Founded in 2008 as Construction Materials Online, CMO has built a market-leading e-commerce platform serving homeowners and trade professionals through a suite of specialist superstore websites. With over 140,000 listed products and a unique hybrid approach combining online convenience with expert technical support, CMO has brought true disruption to a traditionally offline industry The Acquisition, further details of which are set out below, marks a new chapter for CMO and its c.120 colleagues who will join the Group. Lords acknowledges that the events leading to the Acquisition have had an impact on a number of stakeholders, including creditors and suppliers. The pre-pack administration process was undertaken with careful consideration and in close coordination with legal and financial advisers, with the intention of preserving as much business continuity, employment, and value as possible. Dean Murray, CEO of CMO, said: “The Acquisition marks a new and exciting chapter for CMO. We have built a strong, digitally-led business over the past 15 years, and in Lords we have found a partner that not only understands our model but shares our ambition. I am incredibly proud of what the CMO team has achieved and excited about what is next.” Commenting on the Acquisition, Shanker Patel, CEO of Lords, said: “We are delighted to welcome CMO into the Lords family. CMO brings a well-established digital platform, strong customer reach, and a specialist product-led approach that complements our own. This partnership allows us to blend traditional merchanting strengths with cutting-edge digital capabilities. “We are also mindful of the impact of the pre-pack administration process on affected parties and are committed to conducting the transition with respect. Our focus now is on ensuring a stable and successful future for the CMO business and all its stakeholders.” All trading activity continues under the new ownership without interruption. Customers, suppliers, and partners are being contacted directly to ensure continuity and alignment.

I ordered 500 Spanish slate. These were delivered by Lorenzo. He refused to park outside my property to deliver these and instead drove over the top of ornamental rocks of a neighbours.property some 25 metres away. Lorenzo explained he wasn't usually a delivery driver and required an electric stack truck but instead had been provided a smaller stack truck unsuitable for 1 ton of slates.
He then put a women on the phone who wanted me to decline the order. She then started becoming unhelpful, so I ended the call. Lorenzo then proceeded to leave the stone on the public highwayblocking it and left.
The local police warned us about this and my wife and I who both have physical disabities have injuries as a result. I now require an operation.
CMO have investigated and despite video evidence have denied all the above. I am therefore now working with the BBC and a major YouTuber to ensure the public are warned not to use this dishonest company
Update. Despite saying there was no incident the remainder of my order has been refunded as they have decided the incident makes delivery unsafe. If anyone wants to ask me directly I can provide the photos which dont exist. Alternatively keep your eye on YouTube and the BBC for upcoming videos.

Failure to honour order placed 17.3.25
an order was placed on 17.3.25, for 1 length of timesaver cast iron drain pipe, website sa ite indicated 3-5 days.
I week later no sign of so email asking when i can expect delivery to receive a reply to say they were having a problem with there supplier due to there account?
No idea why this has anything to do with me as a reason for failure of items as i have paid up front for this.
I emailed again 2.4.25 and received same excuse, have asked for refund, how can you advertise in stock when what is actually being carried out is they have no stock and pass order onto other suppliers, they take payment up front so there should be no issue with cashflow to apy accounts but obviously these do avoid
Avoid using them, poor customer service
I purchased a drainage system from Drainages Superstore and have spent many thousands with this company. I inspected the items I purchased and identified that I was missing an item from one of the products which cost me £3.75. I contacted customer service to explain this and to my surprise, the representative (Star) threw the consumer act law that I was out of my return period, therefore she would not be prepared to help.
I was very surprised as at the time I was looking to placing a new order with them thinking they would just chuck it in the order however after this experience I refused to buy anything from them again.
I then raised a complaint and to my surprise the rep Philip also agreed with the actions from Customer Service. So in total of the 6 minutes call I had, the time that was spent writing emails back to each other and this feedback I am leaving, do you think it was worth the £3.75? Absolutley ridiculous, I recommend no one to be using this company until they fully understand that training their staff members is overdue as there is logical common sense to deal with matters than hiding behind the law for the sake of £3.75 when I have spent in the region of £3k-£5k.
Poor service and I will avoid using them ever again and do not recommend anyone else using them either.
Inferior Deanta Door Quality and Door Superstore non existent Customer Service Support
I bought x9 very expensive 'Deanta' Doors from the Door Superstore. I have to say that their customer service is one of the worst I have ever encountered. The house was being renovated and I was not living in it at the time. The doors were all individually covered and protected when I collected them. I got a qualified carpenter to fit the doors. I was very happy with the installation. When I checked the doors before moving in, I found that the quality of the doors was sub-standard. I contacted the customer services of the Door Superstore i.e. CMO Group and there were emails back and forth (including with Deanta), however no satisfaction. In fact they were adamant that the doors were good. They never entertained my complaints. They did not send an inspector to check my complaint and the doors are still the same. Very poor quality!
My advice is do not buy from any of the CMO Group companies and specifically do not buy Deanta doors!

AVOID THIS COMPANY - Removed my first review so re submitting
Readding my review as it was removed for some reason and I'm not prepared to let this company get away with that. Poor company. Placed an order got a confirmation email had to chase several times for a delivery date. The company then tell me they don't actually stock or provide most items they go direct from where they are made/manufacturer. This means the delivery and ETA dates online are in fact fake or a lie.
I can imagine large orders would be waiting weeks or months but site states 3-5 day delivery time scale. My order was pretty small in the grant scheme of things and would probably fit in a Fiat 500 on the back seats, it was only for a pack of 10 insulation sheets.
After 4 days gave up trying to get a delivery date just fobbed off on the phone and via email.
I cancelled my order and then had to raise a Paypal dispute and email them several times to get my money back.
My issue was in April this year, noticed my review was removed this morning so leaving it again. There are a lot of negative reviews more recent than mine. 1.5star company time to hire a new Director of Customer Service.

Don‘t trust this company. They take the money for an order and don’t deliver.

Company doesn't actually stock the items they are selling online they seem to keep no stock at all. Orders go off to a factory or somewhere else, another company, to be made to order which basically means their delivery timescales on the website mean f'all. Customer service only reply to emails as the telephone system is complicated and you always end up going to voice mail. I had to open a paypal case to get my money back as I was fed up of waiting for my order. Company needs a massive review hire a new director of customer service, just do something 1.6 average score is bad. Anyone who hasn't paid with paypal might end up needing to visit in person to get money back lol. Use pinks insulation or insulation4less both 5 star companies compared to this mess.

UPDATE 6th Feb-
I HAD RATED AS 5 STAR BUT SADLY NOW HAVE TO AGREE WITH ALL OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEW.
MY MONEY WAS TAKEN AND NO ORDER WAS EVEN PROCESSED.
HAVING HAD NO JOY RINGING CMO
WE CONTACTED THE SUPPLIER DIRECTLY WHO HAD NOT RECEIVED AN ORDER OR DISPATCH DETAILS FROM CMO.
SUPPLIER HAS NOW DISPATCHED OUR ORDER BUT STILL HASNT RECEIVED OUR ORDER FROM CMO FOR WHICH THEY HAVE HAD PAYMENT!
I HAD FAITH THAT THEY WOULD ACTUALLY FULFIL OUR ORDER DESPITE THE MANY MANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS, BUT MY FAITH WAS MISPLACED.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
1st Feb- Paid over the phone following an emailed quote. Gabor and Gary couldn't have been more easy to deal with and happy to help.
Watch out for false advertising
Watch out for false advertising of products.
I bought some doors that arrived looking nothing like the picture, but they said because the door was 'brown', like the picture, my Consumer Rights had not been breached and I would have to pay a return shipping fee.
Not even the wood was the same style.
If you buy a German Shepherd and a labrador turns up, would they say it doesn't matter because they're both brown and dogs?
It is ridiculous.
Avoid.
They don't even deserve 1 star!
They don't even deserve 1 star!! Absolutely shocking service. Took money, waited a week to tell me goods out of stock still waiting another week on and still no goods and no refund....don't use this company!!

Avoid! Poor customer service. Won’t replace damaged deliveries.
Ordered roof tiles from roofing superstore. (200 plus the 20% they insist you order for damage in transit). Delivery was £130. Tiles about £2 each. First and last order! Arrived three days later than arranged with lots damaged. Took a quick photo whilst still in the palette as was running by out the door on holiday as they arrived. They emailed back asking for more photos which I couldn’t send as wasn’t there. Ended up in hospital after the holiday so delayed everything further. Couldn’t find a number to call the roofing superstore so called the supplier (Ibstock) who said it wouldn’t be a problem to send replacement tiles out and that the original photo was evidence enough. Just to let the roofing superstore know this was the case and that they just needed to raise it with the Ibstock directly so they could arrange to have the replacement tiles delivered. The lady there was very friendly and helpful and it really just sounded like she considered it not to be a problem at all. Passed this onto the builder who used the tiles he could manage to salvage and skipped the rest leaving us fifteen tiles short. Roofing superstore then sent an email re asking for further photos and asked me not to contact the supplier directly. As I don’t have further photos now the tiles are in the skip they say they can’t do anything to help. To be able to get the roof tiles replaced through roofing superstore I’ll have to pay another £130 delivery charge for fifteen roof tiles that would fit in a box to be posted. Feels like a complete cop out to me. Will drive to my nearest roofing supplier who happen to have a few of these tiles knocking about and pick them up. I wouldn’t order from here and expect anything that goes wrong to be resolved in your favour.

Incorrect product, poor returns service
The item I ordered turned out not to be suitable for my requirements. The website contained little to no information on the product or the spec differences and upon receiving the item, I spoke to a customer service representative who also couldn't find much information on the product and had to contact the manufacturer.
I asked for the item to be collected and a refund granted. I was told that I would have to pay £40 for the collection, which upon me pointing out that their website contained poor information on the product for me to be able order the correct product, then then said I wouldn't have to pay.
I have been trying to arrange a collection since the start of August and as of yet, the collection still hasn't been confirmed. The only date that was confirmed, they then cancelled. Each time they provided new dates, I responded on the same day, often only within a few minutes, they then took 48 hours to respond, telling me that the date was no longer available. The item cost £215 in total so I can't afford to keep waiting for the collection in order to get my refund. I have not been impressed with any part of my dealings with this company and won't be using them again. I also haven't got any contact numbers for the person I am trying to arrange the collection with so just have to keep waiting for an email response.
The issue is still on going.

The stores in this chain are best avoided because of their appalling customer service. I have been waiting for three months for replacement parts to faulty Velux windows which they delivered and which are actully dangerous. I keep getting fobbed off with 'we're dealing with it' but no results.

One of their customer service agents…
One of their customer service agents put the phone down on me!
I had ordered from one of their consumer sites and was sent 6 wrong doors, which were completely different from what I had ordered. Ok, everyone makes mistakes but trying to rectify the issue was the problem here and no one wanted to help, finally, after numerous emails and phone calls and dealing with several different people, it looks like it may now be sorted. Doorsuperstore (the consumer website) were blaming CMO and CMO were blaming doorsuperstore, at one point I was blamed as I should have checked the doors when they were delivered. When my doors were delivered they were left outside in the dark on wet floor, the driver handed me some paper and got back in his van and drove off not the type of service you expect when you spend over £1000 on doors. I will look to buy from elsewhere in the future, I don't expect when trying to sort an issue out that this company has made someone puts the phone down on me.

Ridiculously bad service. Zero star rating.
I ordered online and received an email saying my goods were dispatched. Thought £100 delivery was steep but paid it anyway.
The day before delivery due I had a notification from PayPal of a refund of 75% of my payment.
As a result I cancelled the other part of my order as I needed both parts.
The rest of my order was delivered meaning I have paid £100 pounds delivery on 2 items costing £60.
An email response tells me I now have to institute a return.
This has caused a substantial delay in my building project.
Despite several emails I have no explanation as to why the bulk of my order was cancelled at such short notice.
I won’t be back. Avoid these clowns.
