Founded in 1872 and born from the co-operative movement, co-operative values continue to be a fundamental part of everything we do.
In 1992, we were the UK’s first bank to introduce a customer-led Ethical Policy, which empowers us to make a real positive difference to the world around us. We believe it's our duty to stand up for the issues that matter to our customers and which bind our colleagues, customers and partner organisations together.Because unlike a lot of businesses, we haven’t just developed an ethical approach — we’ve had one from the very start.
Ethical then, now and always.United Kingdom

Wanted to open joint account and decided to go via switch offer only to be advised it would take over 3 weeks!! Absolutely ridiculous- technology means accounts can be moved within a week these days!
Not impressed- application cancelled 🙄😠

Customer service is fantastic. The bank app is basic but reliable. Only things I could recommend is maybe a dark mode and having an early Bacs salary payments facility. All in all great experience.

My recent interaction on the phone with a member of the fraud service was exemplary. The young man who dealt with my problem was very approachable, totally understood my concern about a blocked payment and resolved the issue immediately. Although it can take time to speak to someone, I have never been disappointed with the people I’ve spoken to at the Coop Bank. I do hope things continue this way once the merger takes place. I’ve been with this bank over 40 years and really don’t want to change at this stage in my life

The personal banker was very helpful and understood my personal need due to discalculia. She allowed time for me to answer questions and was extremely supportive . And I felt I understood the intricacies of the transaction.

I have been satisfied customer of the Co-operative bank for nearly 20 years. In that time their online banking and banking apps have improved enormously. I like the fact that if you need to call them, you get through really quickly, you speak to really pleasant staff who are always keen to help you.

The Coop could improve it's service by improved processes that take into account their use by Power of Attorney holders. As simple as requests for a name with an Account, can you please prompt whether you mean POA name or original Account Holder.
Today, I have been trying to part reinvest a Fixed Rate Cash ISA, the form asks for an reinvestment amount and then assumes a single option of sending a cheque for the balance, I wanted to transfer this to a current account but this option is not available. Why not? Anticipating based on previous experience this process would be difficult I tried to complete the process on the telephone, however was told I would have to undertake on line or in branch. In Branch is a nonsense, as there are so few. I only retained the use of the Coop at my Mother's request as she was a long term customer. You need to be more flexible and recognise the issues of all your customers.

Would recommend Coop Bank. They have just intercepted a fraudulent payment on my credit card and I am very grateful. Am now awaiting a new card. I have been with them and also Smile Internet Bank which is part of Coop Group for years and have always had good service .

I visited my Sheffield branch recently to get my malfunctioning bank card sorted. A member of the staff kindly helped me to understand the card recovery process. It's been a long time since I felt that personal support, which is sadly missing in today's client support practice.
I hope that the new bank ownership will rescue the initial ethos of the company!

Unable to register for online banking! No current online service outages reported, yet still receiving spurious message that some of the info I'm supplying is incorrect! Well oh no it isn't! - I certainly know my own name, my mobile tel.no, and I can readily read the sort code and account number off my debit card! One of the security questions asks how much my finance loan is...yet I don't even have a finance loan!? The other multiple choice question pertains to the first two letters of the first name of someone I co-habit with...well if only the correct two letters featured on the list! Absolutely utterly useless process when all I'm trying to do is register for online banking. A big mistake opting for the (non-)Cooperative Bank!!!!

Bank is veryhelpful to sort out tricky probems that AI can't resolve. Humans are best to resolve non standard problems everytime.
