Co-Space in Stevenage needs improvment

That Co-Space in Stevenage was able to book me in on such short notice (booked Friday for the following week) is to their credit.

The venue looks nice, and the kitchen facilities were welcome. The wifi was fast and reliable, and the staff friendly.

Regrettably, this as far as the positives go, as there were several deficiencies in both the venue and how it was run which made the experience extremely unpleasant and unfit for purpose.

One of the problems was the ‘Two tier’ system the company operates. Members who pay monthly are given a portal app on their phones and induction information via email. The portal is used to book meeting rooms, and once booked, it will show on other member’s portals, so they know when it will be unavailable.

Members who are using day passes (as I was due to the short-term nature of my needs) were given no such email, or the portal. This means members with day passes have no way of knowing if a room is booked or not, nor do they have a way of booking a room save for speaking to reception. I did point this out to the staff and it seemed this wasn’t something they had thought about. I also suggested that a simple interim solution would be to have a simple booking form/calendar or similar next to the rooms which people can write on to book them. The staff agreed this might be useful, but it seems it isn’t something the company as a whole had considered.

This inability to book effectively caused numerous issues with day pass people using rooms that had been booked because they had no way of knowing the room was booked. This in turn involved having to carry laptops all over the place trying to find rooms. All this unnecessary movement resulted in my tripping on a rug which caused my wireless mouse to drop to the floor and become damaged, which I will now have to replace at my expense.

When a room was found, I discovered it had no heating, causing the room to be extremely cold and thus unsuitable for all but the briefest of meetings.

The meeting room availability was worsened due to one of the rooms being used as a Ramadan prayer room, something which I was not made aware off in advance.

The co-working facilities were insufficient in other ways too. The only area available for those with day passes was the top floor, most of which was evidently the break room for the business that uses most of the top floor.

In this break area only two tables had any plug sockets by them, making the rest of the tables completely unsuitable for laptops with low charge. Of these two tables, only one had any natural light.

The other table was in a dark corner. The chairs were armchairs unsuitable for prolonged work and the table was not at a correct height for working with a laptop. It was also not at the correct distance from the chairs to be useful, so I needed to pull it towards me. However, due to being made of marble and situated on a rug moving it was extremely difficult and caused an injury to my shoulder.

There were no lockers or similar for members to secure their laptops and the like if heading out to lunch, which is obviously a security risk. This forced members to take their laptops with them around town which was far from ideal - especially for those with larger and heavier laptops or other equipment.

Due to this co working space being a break room area I was constantly being disrupted by the employees of the top floor business coming out in groups and talking loudly which I found to be highly disrespectful.

All told I found this a deeply unsatisfying week long experience and one that I will not be repeating unless I have no other options. I would not recommend co-space to those who have short term needs.

Amazing service

Amazing service, especially from Kayleigh. we first raised a matter in December 2025, and once it was personally brought to her attention, she took full ownership and completed it from start to finish. the entire process was wrapped up with truly exceptional speed.

Thank you Kayleigh, for such outstanding support
