Three months later

Three months after their visit - and after weeks of rain and cleaning - I still have sewage overspill in my garden

WOW, what service.

WOW, what a service. Called them out at 7pm on Sunday, in a real panic as my toilet was blocked. Spoke to a lovely lady on the phone who re-assured me that everything would be ok. Engineer arrived within the hour and within 30 minutes everything was back to normal. Highly recommend this company.

Fast response

Fast response. Sorted within an hour. Reasonable price considering emergency call out, they arrived within a few hours and unblocked my drain, and provided advice on maintenance.

Inconsiderate

Turned up to do some work for a neighbour, blocked the access to 5 properties by parking across a mews entrance and only moved when asked twice and escalated to a shouting match. Wouldn't recommend.

Coastal drains are untrustworthy

Coastal drains pretend they’re a big, trustworthy company. Their workers made a big mistake in drilling a hole (wrong angle), but when i asked them about it, lied to say it was fine. Then i was doorstopped to sign the completion form at the end, which i did as i already knew they’d made a mistake. However, they’d also not properly attached my guttering to a wall and left holes where they’d messed up. I’d have let it go hadn’t their head office completely ignored my complaint & request for them to fix mistakes. They can be trusted and their staff are dishonest - go elsewhere

Pay twice and do half the work for them

Pay twice and do half the work for them!
£704 to unblock a drain or have them turning up at your door harassing you for payment months later.

After unblocking a drain in March 2023, I paid the £354 invoice the next day. A few months later they reached out to say they couldn’t reconcile the payment and now I’m receiving persistent phone-calls and they even sent one of their contractors round to my family home demanding payment while I was at work. I’ve provided screenshots as evidence and they’re still demanding that I pay them twice for the same job!

The lack of professionalism doesn’t end there though…
The contractor arrived with a piece of machinery that's too heavy to carry up the stairs. Therefore I had to help carry it up with him and also needed to stand there turning the machine on and off while the contractor tried to clear the blockage. £354 seems steep for less than 1 hours work, especially when they

As some constructive feedback to the owners.

1. Invest in some professional accounting software (Xero/Chaser) to follow up on invoices and reconcile they payments without having the resort to sending people round to my home.
2. If the machinery your using is too heavy for one person to carry, send two people to do the job rather than getting your customers to do

On a side note, the contractor was very nice, friendly and apologetic for the fact there was only one person to do the job. This negative review is not a reflection on him or his work. It is a criticism of business owners and accounts department.

POTENTIALLY A PUBLIC MENACE.

The worker from Coastal Drains did, indeed, partially unblock my drain - apart from leaving a quantity of rather healthy-looking weeds in place inside the drain, inviting another blockage.

My main objection to the worker’s behaviour is that substantial amounts of the drain’s contents (grit, twigs, slime, bacteria, potential viruses, foliage and human skin and hair from a neighbouring property was deliberately dumped on my lawn! I have photographic evidence of this. Who knows what bacteria/viruses this drain slime contained? E.coli, listeria, salmonella and other pathogens are all possible – perhaps Covid-19, too.

I feel obliged to give this lazy slob (judging by all evidence available to me) ONE star merely for turning up!

In my experience, this ‘company’ seems to be remarkably similar to criminal roofing/driveway gangs who roam the country looking for gullible victims.

Although this is just my opinion, it is based on the evidence he left in my garden. I still have photographic evidence.

Obviously, I do not wish Coastal Drains to identify me as I am aware of the possibility of repercussions, due to its apparently incompetent, possibly reckless nature and lack of any scruples based on my experiences with the company.

My advice: Steer clear of the reckless, disgusting, and POTENTIALLY dangerous ‘company’. Costal Drains did not respond to my complaint.

Called out to look at a blocked gutter…

Called out to look at a blocked gutter soak away so a man turned up and scratched his chin, looked around, questioned access then told me he will need to return with a second person to jet the drain and the office would contact me the following day to arrange. If I am told I will be contacted then it is not my job to chase them up so after 3 days, nothing so l called another local Company in Littlehampton who came out same day and sorted it out (one man on his own). Unreliable.
