Ask what they are doing to your car before.

I was forced to go to Cobolt Icelandic Car Repair several times because the brand told me otherwise I’d lose my warranty. Huge mistake.

The first time, they charged me almost four times the price of regular windscreen fluid – something I could easily do myself, and which I never even requested. They just added it on anyway. In winter, I had to return twice because a sensor froze. All they did was read the error code – and the cost of that alone is equivalent to buying at least 30 OBDII Bluetooth connectors, so I could have done it myself for free.

These are just a couple of examples of how they constantly overcharge for the simplest things. Because of this, I decided to switch to a local mechanic, even though Cobolt is an hour away. That meant losing my warranty. And now, my NOx sensor has failed – a very common problem for my car – and I have to pay out of pocket.

That’s fine. What’s not fine is the way Cobolt treats customers: overpriced, unnecessary services, and no real transparency. I’ll never set foot there again. Scammers.
