Perfect for what we were looking for.
H (age 8) has been jealous of his brother’s (K 13) online coding classes (another site). They didn’t have anything that we felt was appropriate for H’s level. We wanted something introductory with a lot of guidance. As a child of pandemic learning, H hasn’t had a lot of experience navigating in groups. We gave the Game Maker (series 1) a try and it was a hit. They were focused not only on coding (concepts) but instructional support/guidance. His teacher Nicole is great at keeping the kids on track and inspiring them to come up with ideas. I LOVE their “brain dump” model. It is a useful skill that can be applied to other aspects of life. IF I had to find a flaw, I would say that I wish that range of the students (maturity and knowledge) were closer. There were definitely students who were more advanced than H and some that were behind him. But it’s not a huge deal and a good opportunity to develop important social skills. We are on our second series of the Game Maker classes and have already harassed the staff about coming up with a third series ;)
TLDR; perfect fit for what our 8 year old needed. This class may not be heavy on coding language, but it teaches coding concepts which is just as useful, especially for the younger minds/beginners. Lots of support for those who need it in group learning. Would highly recommend for similar students.
My son enjoys the class
My son enjoys the class, and says the instruction is fun and engaging! He wishes there was a higher level, though, as he doesn't feel challenged every session. I would highly recommend codeSpark Academy to other parents.
My son (6y) loves playing codespark
My son (6y) loves playing codespark. We are happy to see he creates his own stages and proudly share to his friends. He also likes the online class very much. The class is fun and engaging.

My 11 year old son loves it and is the only class he gets excited for ahead of time. He wants to be an engineer but struggles with not being perfect and what I like about this class is they play games each has made and then they give their experience and opinions. It’s good for kids who struggle with things like feedback.
His sister is 8 and it’s also her favorite part of the day. She loves using her creativity to make things others will also use. She wants to do more with Codespark and we most likely will.
My kid loved it
My kid loved it. That class size was small enough they got the one on one attention but enough kids to play each other’s game. I will be signing them up for more classes in the future.
Fun app and engaging classes
Both of my kids (6 and 12) enjoy using the app. They are learning about coding while having fun. My 6-yr-old is also taking the classes, and she always looks forward to it. The online classes are engaging, and students get to show and tell about their work.
Our son loves the classes
Our son loves the classes. For a group online class - the cost seems a bit high.

The Best Coding Courses for Kids!
Our nine-year-old daughter loves her codeSpark app. She has been using it now for several years and really enjoys coding her own games and creating story adventures. When we heard about the new courses being offered with codeSpark instructors, we immediately enrolled her in a couple of sessions. It's been a terrific experience. Our daughter says that she's learned lots of new commands and it's been nice being able to ask her teachers questions. She added that both her teachers were patient and kind. As a parent, it's so nice to see her engaged and having fun while learning coding. We will definitely sign her up for future classes. Highly recommend!
Recommended Coding classes for youngins!
My 7-yr-old daughter has enjoyed both of the 3-session courses that she has taken with codeSpark teachers. She enjoys building her own games and stories and sharing with her peers. We look forward to more sessions!
