I was invited to speak at the "2nd International Conference on Virology" (Berlin, June 2026) by Cognition Conferences. Here is what happened.
The scam:
Flattering invitation for cometee member, mentioned my published work, promised hotel/travel reimbursement.
I paid $1,799 USD ($799 registration + $1,000 for 5 nights accommodation) via Razorpay on Nov 28, 2025
The organizers listed 30 session topics but only 7 speakers — a huge red flag
No hotel was named when I paid. Months later they added "Mercure Hotel MOA Berlin"
I called the hotel — no reservation exists in my name for the accommodation I paid for
What they did book: A conference hall — because they are running dozens of fake conferences on the same dates in the same place (check their main site: cognitionconferences.com). A small cost for them, but they collect fees from hundreds of victims.
What I did:
Filed bank dispute
Reported to local prosecutor
Notified UIA Fraud Monitor (they confirmed it matches predatory patterns)
Sent formal demand letter — my name was removed within 1 hour, but no refund after 7-day deadline
Filed dispute with Razorpay (in progress)
My warning to you:
This is a large-scale, multi-disciplinary fraud operation. They target researchers in every field — virology, bacteriology, AI, robotics, public health, nutrition, 3D printing, and more.
Check everything before you pay. Verify the venue independently. Search for reviews. If you are already caught — report it. Do not stay silent.

I wish to report that this conference appears to operate in a fraudulent manner. I was invited as a keynote speaker and, after duly paying the registration fee, I received an email only a few days before the event informing me that both the venue (including the country) and the dates had been changed!
I therefore requested a full refund, as is my right, but the organizers have failed to reimburse the 799 USD I paid. This conduct is unacceptable and raises serious concerns regarding the legitimacy and professional integrity of the event.

I participated in a conference organized by Cognition Conferences on July 21–22, 2025.
They invited me to present my research results and promised to cover half of my travel expenses and hotel costs, while asking me to pay the registration fee myself.
I accepted the invitation and gave my presentation on July 21.

However, they never reimbursed the travel or hotel expenses, and since then, they have completely ignored all of my emails.
I am now convinced that this organization is a scam.
It also makes sense now why they charge such a high registration fee to attract participants.

I sincerely hope that those behind this organization will be held accountable, and I am posting this here to prevent other researchers from becoming victims of the same fraud.

I registered for the Bacteriology Conference organized by Cognition Conferences, scheduled for July 21–23, 2025. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected scheduling conflict with my official work vacation, I was unable to attend. In Brazil, public employees are legally forbidden from representing their institutions during vacation time, and the results I planned to present are directly related to my role in a public company.

I requested a refund of the amount paid more than three months ago, on April 11, 2025, through both WhatsApp and the official Cognition Conferences chat. Since then, I’ve been in regular contact with Michel, who has been polite and supportive throughout the process. According to him, the organizers approved the refund over three months ago and assured it would be processed within 10 days.

As the refund was taking longer than expected, a part of the refund process, Michel also kindly suggested that I contact my Brazilian bank (Bradesco) to submit a formal chargeback request in order to help expedite the refund — and I did so, as instructed.

However, despite the approval and this additional effort, the refund has still not been issued, and I have received no confirmation or explanation for the delay. I am currently facing a personal health-related financial emergency, and this refund is essential to me.

While I appreciate Michel’s continued efforts, I must express my disappointment with the lack of transparency and accountability from the organizers.

I request urgent action and clear communication regarding the refund that was approved but remains unpaid after more than 90 days of follow-up.

It is fake. You search a bit and they have not done anything. They ask you for 900$ to join their conference and if you accept then you would get scammed
