Expensive in the long run...

I have had the misfortune of being stuck with Cognizant as "recommended" supplier in a couple of corporate roles now, and the story is always the same - "competitive" day rates, but inexorably slow delivery meaning the overall cost is more than a competent solution provider.

Case in point - we have just had a piece of work that we could have delivered internally in a matter of days take 4+ months of 3 Cognizant resources working on, and the output solution was *shocking* in quality, not robust and not scalable.

Horrible Contractors

They are our IT support contractors for many tools; snowflake, tableau, etc... I have never had a ticket closed successfully without an inhouse employee correcting the Cognizant contractor. Why do we even have a contractor? It is very common for them to fix issues wrong as well. They wanted to make me a new profile instead of just adding a simple permission.

They do nothing

They do nothing. At least for Google and Youtube, shopify, ads integration. Just a whole bunch of tickets with no work, no result, no actual work. Delays, mouse wheel. That is all. Zero.

Ask for pay rate which is illegal under CA law

My last contract just ended and my manager tried to transition me to cognizant. They first reached out to me asking my desire rate. They said they would negotiate a better rate. Later they said the budget from the client is low to work with. Then my manager told me she gave them green light to move forward meaning she paid them more. I asked will I get a higher rate. This woman asked to talk on the phone and during the call she asked for my rate (I later found out this is illegal in CA) I shared and then she said they couldnt go any higher. I later tried to ask her what was the reason she asked the rate. She said she didnt remember. I filed a DLSE complaint because I feel like I was being treated unfairly.

Very disappointing experience as a contractor

I worked as a subcontractor through a vendor connected to Cognizant, and the experience was really frustrating. Even after completing the work, I had serious issues getting paid. Cognizant approved my timesheets but didn't take any responsibility when the payment got delayed for months. It felt like they only cared about keeping the client happy, not about supporting the people actually doing the work.

They collect and sell personal data…

They collect and sell personal data with no rights to do so.

Exploiting loopholes in regulations and making life of general population worse, so they can make some money.

Kind of the opposite of what you would want.

Very bad company

Very bad company. They don't think about employee at all, but only money. Upper management is not supportive at all. If they could not get project, because of un-skilled sales team, they make employee redundant. Ridiculous culture. No value addition to employee, no training sponsorship for productivity improvement. HR department is more horrible,  they don't listen to employee at all. No redundancy compensation.

Nice company for all of call centres…

Nice company for all of call centres and a Higher Pay. All in All Google is the highest payout at all times and yet they have good trainings and free foods too. Usually, I am in Computershare Outbound, it is the easiest and it is really a good pay. All in all, it is perfect.
