Full sized products
Full sized products that were coherently put together. I received: a glycolic toner, a shampoo for hair growth, eye serum and cream, and a hand sanitizer (the latter, though, I didn't care that much for)
Mystery solved: it's unwanted stock. And apparently they have plenty of it.
I bought a Cohorted Mystery Beauty Box because I've wanted to try one for ages. I was genuinely excited by the idea of receiving a **hand-picked, premium selection of beauty products** and discovering brands I wouldn't normally buy.
What I received was less *luxury beauty discovery* and more *clear the stockroom*.
My box contained:
• Two Mario Badescu products — from a brand I personally would not be comfortable using given its controversial history. So two products immediately have **zero value to me**.
• A RÉDUIT BOOST device which appears to be **effectively unusable as intended because the associated app is no longer available**. Not quite the futuristic skincare experience I was expecting. More *very expensive paperweight*.
• A tiny BDK fragrance sample — despite Cohorted's own wording stating that Mystery Beauty Boxes contain **“full-size beauty products, not sample sizes.”**
• A Grow Gorgeous shampoo.
• An ESPA no-rinse hand cleanser.
That's it.
**No makeup. Very little variety. Two products from the same brand. A hand cleanser. A sample. And a device whose associated app has disappeared into the technological afterlife.**
Yet the box is marketed as a **£100+ premium beauty box**.
I subsequently calculated the current retail value of the four identifiable full-size products at approximately **£60.50**, before putting any value on the fragrance sample or the RÉDUIT.
I contacted Cohorted with these concerns.
And eventually received a response.
Unfortunately, their response didn't exactly resolve anything.
On the sample, they said they would **“check”** whether the product supplied was a sample and didn't want to confirm that one had been supplied incorrectly.
So despite their own website saying **no samples**, apparently we're still conducting a forensic investigation into whether the tiny perfume sample in the tiny sample-sized packaging might possibly be… a sample.
On the RÉDUIT, they acknowledged my position that I consider it to have no value because the app is no longer available, but simply stated that **they don't agree that this automatically means the product has no value.**
They didn't explain how I am supposed to use the device as intended.
They didn't provide an alternative app.
They didn't provide a solution.
Apparently it can retain its *mystical theoretical value* while being of very limited practical use to the customer who has actually received it.
As for the lack of variety, I was told that mystery boxes don't guarantee that every item will be from a different brand.
Fair enough.
But I wasn't complaining that every item wasn't from a different brand. I was questioning why a supposedly **hand-picked, premium beauty discovery box** contained such a poor and repetitive mix of products.
And then came the pièce de résistance.
Before Cohorted had even responded to my complaint, they accidentally sent me **ANOTHER Mystery Beauty Box containing the EXACT SAME PRODUCTS.**
Exactly. The. Same.
So apparently the contents aren't quite as *“hand-picked”* as advertised.
Either that, or somebody is extremely committed to making sure this particular box finds a home. 😂
I was offered a return and refund, with Cohorted making it very clear that accepting a return **“does not constitute an acceptance that the boxes were mis-sold or that the products supplied were defective.”**
They are also expecting **me to pay the return postage**.
So there we have it.
The products are apparently valuable, the RÉDUIT apparently has value despite its apparent lack of functionality, the sample is still under investigation despite the company's own no-samples wording, the lack of variety is apparently perfectly acceptable...
…and my solution is simply to **send everything back at my own expense**.
To be fair, they did eventually cancel my subscription and refund my advance October payment. But it took a complaint to get there, and the customer service response ultimately felt more like a carefully worded denial than an attempt to understand or resolve the issues I raised.
I completely understand that **“mystery” means I don't get to choose the products**.
What I don't understand is why “mystery” apparently means:
**“Here are some products you may not want, one thing you can't use, a sample despite saying there aren't samples, questionable value, minimal variety — and if you complain, please put it all back in the box and pay to send it back.”**
I've finally solved the mystery.
**The mystery is how this was considered a premium £100+ beauty box in the first place.**
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
**Would not mystery again.**
Great if you wear the same products over again
I have now had a subscription for 4 months , the first box was great, pat mcgrath all lovely products, 2nd box was KVD, none of which I would wear as thr colours was more suited to 18 year olds but hey one bad box doesnt equal a bad product, now I've recieved my 3rd box, pat mcgrath, essentially the same products as month 1, and the upcoming box 4 is KVD, the 'teaser' product, is you guessed it, the same that was in the last KVD box last month. So great if you use the same 4 products over and over again and need a refill after 2 months. I am giving it 1 more month and if its yet another repeat or goth make up I will be cancelling
I have been a customer of Cohorted for…
I have been a customer of Cohorted for a number of years now and always really rated the boxes and products. However recently the quality has changed significantly. The quality of the packaging has declined and now feels cheap. Whilst I appreciate this may be to support being more environmentally friendly I do not believe that there are not higher quality boxes that could be used. The products are now also very repetitive my last 3 boxes have been also delivered very late. Which is disappointing. I will continue for a few more months but will be actively looking for alternatives
I have just cancelled my subscription…
I have just cancelled my subscription after around 4-5 years. The most recent boxes have been really disappointing; 2 months consecutive were Pat McGrath make up. The delivery was also really late for the past 2 boxes. The last year has been really disappointing in general; feels like they are just clearing out old stock and scrambling a box together. It used to be super exciting and I absolutely loved receiving the boxes. However, it now just feels like a massive waste of money and not getting good value for it. A big shame.
Love the contents of the box
Love the contents of the box, it is always high quality, premium products.
My last box was a bit delayed but communication was good and the products are way better than the other beauty boxes I have bought in the past
Not great for me personally
Not great for me personally. I had two boxes in both of them I received colours that were totally unsuitable for me. I gifted them to someone and they didn’t like it either. If the boxes are not personalised then at the very least they should make colours as much as possible neutral so that everyone can wear it. Additionally boxes take ages to arrive incredibly slow. I have now cancelled my box.
I was really disappointed with this…
I was really disappointed with this beauty box subscription (August 2026).
Firstly, the delivery was ridiculously late, which was frustrating, especially when you’re paying for a subscription and expect it to arrive within a reasonable timeframe.
Secondly, the contents of the box were a major let down. The box was heavily focused on Kat Von D products (all products were Kat Von D), rather than providing the variety I was expecting from a beauty subscription box. I subscribed because I wanted to discover and try a range of different brands and products, not receive multiple products from essentially the same brand.
I was also disappointed with the quality of the actual box itself, which felt very cheap and flimsy and didn’t give the premium feel I would expect from a beauty subscription.
Overall, it didn’t feel like good value for money or like I was getting the varied beauty experience I signed up for. I hope future boxes offer more variety and that the delivery service improves.
Not worth it
Received parcel weeks after first promised and it was then left in a red hot greenhouse. Contacted the company to ask for a return of these cosmetic products and I was basically told to take it up with the courier and to foot the bill for postage back. Not worth the hassle or cost, but won't be buying again.
Waste of money!
Waste of money!! Would not buy again!! Beauty products supplied are very cheap and the packaging looked cheap as well!!! Save your money!!
Don’t choose
The products that were mentioned were said to be a variety of skin products, hair products with also make up. However all you get is a small little perfume and a blush not to mention majority of the brands were Mario Badescu. No brand I know of this luxury. Never buying again
Think I've been scammed
Have paid for two boxes, recieved none, feels like this is an absolute scam. No answer when I email for help. No up to date social media page to contact. No telephone number. £70 spent ant NOTHING recieved. Gutted. Feels like a complete con
Good quality products
Good quality products. Well worth the price. A great way to try beauty products before you buy more expensive items. I also love the surprise factor, of not knowing what is in the actual box!
I loved the mystery box
I loved the mystery box! I look forward to trying the haircare products, the lip care I'll now get in the future, not sure on styling cream but that's the mystery element
The Best Beauty Mystery Box I’ve Tried
This is my second Cohorted Mystery Box, and I can honestly say I’m just as impressed as I was with the first.
At around £28, the value is incredible. Every box I’ve received has been packed with full-size luxury beauty products that I genuinely use, rather than items that end up sitting in a drawer. The selection is always well balanced too – a great mix of haircare, skincare, treatments and makeup.
This month’s box included a fantastic shampoo, a styling product, skincare, a face mask and a beautiful By Terry lip balm. Everything feels thoughtfully chosen and from premium brands.
What I love most is that it gives me the chance to discover high-end products I probably wouldn’t have bought for myself, and so far I’ve loved every single one.
If you’re wondering whether it’s worth it, I would say absolutely. I’ve been genuinely blown away by the quality, variety and value, and I’ll definitely be continuing my subscription. Highly recommended!
Recently received my second box and…
Recently received my second box and filled with gorgeous golden toned Pat McGrath makeup…amazing price for 4 full sized products - lipstick, mascara, highlighter and 4 eyeshadow palette - I am very happy!
I love I get to use products which are next level
I love I get to use products which are very expensive for me to just go buy them
Luxurious boxes xx
Sadly I've cancelled my subscription
I've cancelled my subscription, because of the degraded packaging and contents.
I had been a Cohorted customer for over five years, and I used to have that lovely excited feeling when my boxes arrived - several of the brands are now regulars for me.
A couple of years ago the items included started to be either repetitive, and /or of no particular interest. Still, I have three daughters, so the items always went to someone.
But in the last year the offering has gone completely downhill. Long gone are the lovely white boxes, and the lovely black boxes - all of which I've reused. Now I get a grubby white PiP box which is of the poorest quality and price, and the items feel as though they were bought from a discount company. No more. It's like breaking up with a boyfriend, it's sad, but you're just not what I'm looking for any more x
Excellent Box!
I loved my Cohorted beauty box this month the highligher and the lipstick where the best!
