I was gifted an afternoon tea for 2 as a birthday present. It has taken some months to get round to using it but on using this week I have to say I am glad I didn’t pay for it! Very substandard “Bakewell Fizz” basically cheap prosecco with a maraschino cherry plonked in the bottom no choice of cocktail. Basic sandwiches and a huge plate of cakes that was far too overwhelming for 2 people. The scones were crispy and over done and crisped to a million pieces. The little espresso cups of soup with cheese shortbread and cheese quiche were the nicest bit but odd for afternoon tea! Would have preferred half the cheap sandwiches and cakes and more decent prosecco. The surroundings were ok but a bit chilly and rubbish cheap tables. Very over priced compared to other competitors.

Afternoon tea

Afternoon tea, pre made sandwiches had clearly been in fridge for quite some time, difficult to ascertain what filling as so little of it. Tea pot chipped .cakes too dry to eat , had to leave table to request coffee, very poor all round.

Popped in drink on our walk, perfect

We walked here through the park with the autumn leaves around us all wrapped up and called in Colwick Hall and sat at the bar and had a lovely drink with lovely chilled out music playing in the background with little fairy lights glistening whilst other customers enjoyed afternoon tea.
It was a lovely treat which made our walk that much more enjoyable and hope to do it again if in the area

Our go to place on Nottingham

This was our third time staying at Colwick, and once again we were not disappointed. During a three night stay the staff as always were polite, friendly, welcoming and professional. We ate at the hotel on all three nights and very much enjoyed the food and attentive service. The building of course is old, but I think that is a huge part of the attraction to revel in its beauty and history, while walking in the wonderful grounds. We will definitely return when in Nottingham.

If you have deep pockets and unlimited expense fine but they do have a bar license to rip you off from a very poor bar with staff who can barely mange a sentence in English.lager that tasted like regurgitated sewage and £7 For a rum then £2 for the coke mixer is way over the top. Suffice to say we will never return.

My suggestion would be to find an alternative venue for whatever it is you had planned to do at Colwick Hall Hotel.

Having booked a meeting room on 17th May, for a meeting on 24th of May I called the day before (23rd May) to postpone due to the unexpected death of a colleague's father that day.

The gentleman I spoke to expressed his condolences, but told me that it was too late for a refund. I explained that I didn't want a refund, but would like to postpone the meeting. He confirmed that I could do that and that I would be able to rebook.

I was horrified to discover that upon attempting to rebook the meeting today, 31st May, that his compassion was evidently misplaced and that if we wanted to book a meeting - we would have to pay, again.

I am extremely disappointed over how they have handled it.

I’ve booked and used hotels and other venues for meetings for decades and overwhelmingly had good experiences. This current experience shows me that Colwick Hall Hotel care very little about their customers.

The total absence of compassion is breathtaking, considering how easy it is to have a company policy for bereavement cancellations.

There are many superb hotels in and around Nottinghamshire. I hope this review serves as one reason to choose somewhere other than Colwick Hall Hotel.
