While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

I love readings reviews before buying big purchases. The website is great, plus with the subscription you get basic legal advice. Great service.

A Reliable Voice for Consumers!
Consumentenbond stands out as one of the few truly independent organizations in the Netherlands that genuinely protects consumers.
- In a world dominated by large corporations driven solely by profit, it is refreshing to find an organization that exposes the dishonest practices of big brands and shines a light on consumer rights.
Their dedication to transparency and fairness is invaluable, especially when so many companies rely on misleading tactics.
- For example, many supermarkets here in the Netherlands sell "bio / organic" products that are, in reality, nothing more than a scam—products labeled as bio, but upon further investigation, they are shown not to be organic at all, as highlighted in a recent documentary.
My advice to Consumentenbond: Continue your excellent work, but don’t be afraid to take a stronger stance against big names and corporations. Highlighting illegal activities, injustices, and deception is crucial in today’s consumer landscape.
Keep up the great work, we need more organizations like you!

People I talked to were nice but they do not give any advice in English and it is required of you to speak Dutch. Really discriminatory. So people learning Dutch can not get help from an official consumers association. Really sad for the year 2023.

What's the point of a Consumer Rights Association when you have to pay for some membership? It should be free for people to be helped when encountered with a problem. To earn money from people that are already in a bad financial situation and have a problem with another company is just ridiculous.

We had an awful experience with the bemiddeling service, especially with the specific person dealing with out request (Ms S). We initially thought that there was a sincere intention to help us with resolving an issue we had with a Dutch company, but it soon started to be more stressful to deal with the Consumentenbond than with the original problem. Our Dutch is still not great (A2/B1 -still studying) and they complained that we couldn't understand each other (even though their English was good), so we suggested that we communicate in writing, where we would have more time to read the question and elaborate the answer in Dutch. However they soon found another hurdle as they stated that they did not accept any non Dutch documents (mostly emails) - even though the important documents e.g offerte & invoices were already in Dutch, there is nothing in their terms and conditions that explicitly stated this requirement. They then suggested that we have everything officially legally translated (a very expensive process!) and when we asked whether it was worth doing it, they didn't reply as they never bothered to go through the papers. As we thought it was a language barrier, we asked our very kind neighbour to intercede over the phone for us and act as a reference point, so that we could proceed. Our neighbour was willing to spend her time to help us, but instead Ms S was verbally very aggressive with her, causing unnecessary upset to our neighbour. This seems highly inappropriate for a person whose role is to mediate and calm people in tense situations. In essence, we feel that Consumentenbond has discriminated against us and is unwilling to help us because our Dutch is not good enough (although our money for Dutch businesses apparently is), but also that they were unkind to a person that generously dedicated some of their free time to us. Their 'service' is a real disservice and consumer protection is not available to all in the Netherlands!

To start, the website itself has little information that can't be found elsewhere FOR FREE. If you are considering the "trial" subscription - DON'T!
I had the same negative experience as others listed here - I wish I had read this site before opting in. The "trial" subscription was impossible to cancel and they do not respond to repeated inquiries by phone or email. Even sent me to collections when I finally turned off the automatic payment approval. This is NOT a company that is focused on the consumer, as they claim. Seems to me it is more of a scam operation to extort ongoing subscription fees (and, as a "non-profit," avoid paying taxes all the while!)
STAY AWAY!!!!

"They are not allowed to give advice in English", Damn... what kind of country is this?... More hostility. Keep it in mind before moving here.
