We recently purchased a water softener…

We recently purchased a water softener from the Cook Store in Owen Sound. The initial water testing, purchase and installation were efficient and top of the line.
George the water specialist was knowledgeable and helped us with understanding and managing our new unit. I will be recommending Cooks to my friends.

Cares about the environment + GREAT products

I was very impressed with this company. I find most companies do not care about the environment. Our package came in a reused Reese box and had very little tape and packaging inside. LOVE IT. I hate it when companies focus on brand recognition and packaging instead of protecting the environment and just focusing on your products. The products were great and came very quickly and I got updates all the way! Their prices were also the best out of all the other sites I saw.

Great!

Great! There was a delay in fulfilling my order, but I was informed what was happening every step of the way. When I had a question, I received a prompt reply to my email. My knife arrived safely and I am very pleased with it.

Falsely advertised price guarantee

Requested a price match guarantee for a knife that I found for a better price on Williams Sonoma but wanted to support a Canadian company.
Was refused for no reason - was cited that they could "reserved the right to refuse the match for any reason".
Sure - but that's just poor service - especially when a price match guarantee is promoted on the footer as a competitive advantage. Misleading. Won't go back or recommend to others.

I would have given them 5 stars

I would have given them 5 stars, however I did have to wait 3 months for my order. But the customer service dept was excellent and answered my emails promptly. They gave me an all clad whisk for waiting so long. The quality of the Fissler pots I purchased is excellent. They were worth the wait and the price I paid is about half the price of other websites. I would buy from this company again.

Lowest price for All Clad

Cookstore had the lowest price for the 8 inch All Clad D3 skillet that I ordered. Delivery was fast and free. The skillet arrived in perfect condition. I already had a smaller All Clad skillet (omelette pan) and this cooks just as well as my old one. Food doesn't burn easily in these pans and releases easily most of the time. I am very frugal, but All Clad is worth the money. I would buy from Cookstore again.

This company is not worth supporting

This company is not worth supporting. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF YOU WANT ANY CUSTOMER SUPPORT. They order your product when you purchase. So it has to come from their supplier, then to you. You'll get your order in 3 - 4 weeks.

Worst customer service

Worst customer service. I bought a Panini press and a bread maker from them. The press arrived and has a non standard plug (which they don't say on the website). I've asked for a return authorization and get a page long instruction on how to return it with the RA number on multiple places, but not on the packaging, and to place this box in another box. The box weighs 44 pounds and was shipped this way. I'm not looking for another box. Then I try to cancel the bread maker as it hasn't shipped yet. They answer me 2 days later saying their sorry but it's been sent to shipping so they can't cancel it. Not actually shipped, but sent to shipping.

Absolutely HORRENDOUS service

Absolutely HORRENDOUS service.

Firstly, they sent me the wrong pan. Frustrating, but OK. I contact customer service, they say they need pictures and details to confirm they sent me the wrong pan. (Can't you easily tell you sent me the wrong pan by comparing my order to what you shipped out?) So after some back and forth, providing more details and pictures (I'm getting increasingly annoyed), they say, "oh yes, you seem to have been shipped this pan instead" YES THANK YOU I'VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU THAT. And then, "would you accept a $30 coupon to keep the item?". No apology given, no information on how they would be covering return shipping, and only a $30 coupon offerd, and even then only if I keep the wrong pan.

All this, when the pan I paid for is more than $100.

So I say, no, I would like the pan I paid for, and ask that they cover return shipping costs. So they provide me a return shipping label, alongside a long list of instructions and requirements for how to return the pan. One of these is, "the item must be shipped in another box, not just the original packaging". Still no apology, no offer of a coupon or anything for how long and frustrating this process has been, and the time it will take to package and ship the pan back. All to fix their mistake. At this point I've lost my patience, and I detail how frustrating this has been, how further annoyed I am that no one has yet apologized for their mistake, request that my issue be escalated further up the chain, and I tell them they didn't ship it to me in a separate box, so if they want it in a separate box they can send me one.

The reply was that if it wasn't sent in a separate box then I can just wrap it in plastic. Still no apology, no offer of a coupon or anything, just a "thank you for shopping with us" at the end.

Safe to say I am beyond infuriated with cookstore.ca. This is the most abysmal customer service/return process I've ever had to endure, and I've bought stuff from cheap Chinese websites with notoriously dodgy customer service/return processes.

It's been weeks since I shipped back to them the wrong pan they sent me, and they never confirmed that they received the return, nor have they provided any update as to when they'll be shipping me the correct pan.

DO NOT SHOP HERE.

Do not shop here

Do not shop here. They do not answer the phone, they do not respond to email (well, they respond, but do not actually answering the question asked), they do not ship but claim they will... disaster. Ordered 3 items over a month ago, all of which appeared to be available, none of which have shipped, and when I ask them to either ship or refund they will do neither. BOO!

Scam

This organization is a scam. They advertise items as being in stock and ready to ship when they actually don't have any of it. Their customer service number does not connect to anyone and they have terrible response times over email. I waited over three months for an item that was allegedly in stock. I contacted their customer service several times and each time I was advised not to worry and the item was on the way. After 3 months I attempted to cancel my order. It was not until I threatened a charge back through my bank, and a fraud report that they finally refunded my money.

Simply awful

Simply awful. Website lists items as "IN STOCK AND READY TO SHIP" but will not ship them if included in an order that contains backordered items. I ordered 8 items and 3 were backordered. I've waited more than 35 days for items THEY STILL LIST AS IN STOCK.

CS Rep said that after an item is in 'processing' they cannot cancel it, so I have requested a chargeback. It's strange that there are 'NO HASSLE RETURNS' but no way to cancel an order that hasn't left in over 30 days since it was placed.

If I could leave a ZERO star, I would.
Long story short, total lack of communication INITIATIVE, and took 10 weeks to fulfill my very simple order. Delay was in the order and processing departments, not shipping. Once shipped, it only took 2 days to arrive.
First time ordering as I've always used Webstaurantstore.com and shopatstop.com in the past without any issues. Obviously, I will not return.

21.02.05 - PLACED ORDER - for four small items (patient on shipping due to COVID)
21.02.28- I initiated contact with Cook Store after not hearing anything from them, with my order status listed as "processing" - "Order placed over 3 weeks ago, and still listed as "processing". Please advise of reason of delay, and expedite shipping."
21.03.01 - RESPONSE - "Hello Malcolm, Unfortunately it appears the following item(s) are holding up your order: Norpro - 2 Piece Set Silicone Round Pancake/Egg Rings - 994C. Would it be alright with you if we simply cancelled and refunded the above item(s) and had the remainder of your order shipped? Let us know, and we'd be happy to take care of you! Thank you for your business and have a great day"
21.03.02 - I WROTE - "Yes, Please remove the items not available, and process the rest of the order"
21.03.02 - RESPONSE - "Hi Malcom, No problem! We've refunded you for that item and sent your order to our shipping department. Although the refund has been applied now it does sometimes take up to 7 business days for the credit to appear on your statement. Just so you know, if by chance your credit has been cancelled, the refund will be automatically directed by your bank to your new credit card. Typically once sent to shipping an order is processed and shipped out in about 24h, Friday Is the exception and these usually ship on Monday. With the current global conditions we are experiencing some delays including with our shipping department. If you still have not received shipping information within the next two or three working days please reach out to me and I'll look into it. Please let me know if there is anything else we can do for you! Thank you for your business and have a great day"
21.03.23 - I WROTE (3 weeks later) - "Order status. It's now been 7 weeks. 10xxxxxxx (order number). Not impressed."
21.03.23 - RESPONSE - "Hi Malcolm, I am very sorry for the delay regarding your order. I reached out to the warheouse and your items will be shipped out within few business days. You will receive ane mail with at tracking number soon. Again I apologize for this inconvenience, please let me know if there is anything more I can do for you. Thank you for your business and have a great day"
21.03.25 - I WROTE - "Please send me the tracking number ASAP. Next Tuesday will be the 8 week mark since I placed the order for a small, simple, not complicated order. All communications were initiated by me. Not a very good first impression for my first order... Please explain the reason for the incredulous delay."
21.04.01 - RESPONSE - Hi Malcolm, I apologize, it looks like we had an error in our system and your order was incorrectly sent into shipping. It turns out we do not have your Swissmar - Shucker Paddy Malpeque Oyster Knife Black - SK2018BK in stock at this time, I am so sorry! If you would like, I can simply cancel this item on your order and send the rest into shipping, or we can of course explore other options if you would prefer. Again I am very sorry for the trouble, please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you"
21.04.04 - MY REPLY - "SEND OUT WHAT YOU ACTUALLY DO HAVE IN STOCK IMMEDIATELY AND REFUND ME THE DIFFERENCE. Out of the four items that I ordered, two of them you don't have. Moving forward, if there are any further delays, please ensure that you reach out to me promptly, without my having to contact you first."
21.04.05 - RESPONSE - "Hi Malcom, No problem. Although the refund has been applied now it does sometimes take up to 7 business days for the credit to appear on your statement. Your order has been sent to shipping and you will be receiving a tracking number shortly to your email. Rest assured however that the merchandise has been sent to shipping and is on the way to you now. If by chance there is anything else we can do for you in the meantime, please do not hesitate to let us know. Thank you for your business and have a great day "

21.04.15 – DELIVERED - 1 day shy of 10 weeks, 2 and a half months. UNACCEPTABLE
