I would highly recommend Cornwall Woodburners. Steve in the office is really helpful and knowledgeable. Robin who sweeps and maintains our log burner is meticulous.

Fantastic Service and a Beautiful Di Lusso R4 Installation

We recently had a Di Lusso R4 installed by Cornwall Woodburners, replacing our old open fire, and we couldn’t be happier with the whole experience.

Our first visit to the showroom was fantastic. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to talk us through the different types of stoves and what might work best for our home. They then arranged a survey for the following week so we could properly explore our options.

The survey itself was extremely helpful. The surveyor was refreshingly honest and actually advised us not to spend more money than necessary, explaining that a smaller stove would be better suited and more appropriate for the size of our room. We also spent time discussing the benefits of a stove over an open fire, which really helped us feel confident that we were making the right decision.

The installation was booked for about a month later and took three days. The installers arrived bright and early on the first day and were friendly, polite, and very professional throughout. They were always happy to explain what they were doing, kept us informed of their progress each day, and involved us whenever a decision needed our input.

They were also very tidy and respectful of the house, cleaning up after themselves as they went. Before leaving, they made sure we were completely familiar with the new stove and talked us through all the supporting paperwork.

The Di Lusso R4 has completely transformed our living room — it now feels cosy, modern, and far more usable than it ever was with the open fire.

We’re absolutely delighted and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cornwall Woodburners to anyone considering a stove.

Great customer service

Great customer service, Steve was really helpful in presenting a selection of stoves to consider, and we went with an OKO bioethanol S3 - delivered really quickly and delighted with it. Thanks Steve!

Knowledge, patience and understanding!

Very prompt, polite and patient communication from the office side of the business from Sam, Steve and John.

Cornwall Woodburners offered several services free of charge initially including a survey or both chimney and burner, and Robin (one of the nicest people you’ll ever wish to meet!) even did some on-the-spot enhancements during his first visit.

They then rescued a situation where the previous burner had been installed incorrectly and both the chimney pot and stack were clinging on for dear life - providing photos and detailed explanations along the way.

The work was carried out professionally and promptly with as much consideration as is possible given to our home-working environment - it was a pleasure to have all the field employees attend and work on our premises.

The only slight blemish on the experience was the affiliated scaffolding company used for the external work that was required on the chimney stack. Cannot fault the actual work and care taken when erecting and deconstructing the scaffolds - but the blasting of music whilst they worked and the (rather loud) swearing at 8am on a Tuesday morning was not welcomed in our residential surroundings!

All in all a job very well done and very much appreciated

Be careful

We were initially really pleased with the fitting and service received for our wood burner.

However the lime render used to finish fireplace started cracking out immediately. I am aware of the drying out process and how it can crack. It took a long time to hear back and eventually someone came out and we thought resolved the issue.

6 months after installation during the first winter we have had leakage all inside the fireplace, a thick tar like liquid which has stained all the interior and looks horrendous. The render has also cracked a lot worse and sounds hollow underneath. At present the whole thing looks a mess.

We contacted Cornwall Woodburners who agreed it looked unsightly and would attend to inspect. During inspection it was noted there was no obvious cause and chimney stack looked fine. It was mentioned several times that they had no idea what was causing the leakage. It was suggested that they would inspect the stack and roof to ascertain issue.

We then had an estimate for this work, expecting us to pay again. Either the chimney wasn't inspected correctly initially which isn't out issue or there is an issue with fitting, again which isn't our issue.

We emailed to voice our concern over service, four weeks later we have heard nothing.

I am now in the process of having to pay for a third party to find and correct issue.

We contacted Cornwallwoodburners to arrange for our log burner flue to be swept. Their reprentative Robin arrived on time. We were impressed with his work ethic, politeness and patience with our questions as the log burner is the first one that we have owned. We admired Robin's attention to detail. We have no hesitation in recommending this company

Couldn’t rate them enough. I was let down by another company and contacted Cornwall Woodburners to see if they could help.
They were very efficient, and customer service was amazing. The installers were fantastic, a real credit to the company and nothing was too much hassle. Would happily recommend

1 star is being kind..read on.

1 star is being kind.Where to start, I arranged for Cornwall Wood burners to attend my property in May 2024 to carry out a survey and install of a log burner. The gentlemen that visited was very friendly and seemed to know what he was talking about, suggested some log burners and said it wpuld be suitable to have a log burner fitted in the place qhere I suggested. I was overall happy with that experience, however I did have to cap off electrics which was fine. Roll onto mid June there was a discount on the particular fireplace that I wanted on the suppliers website, Cornwall Woodburners didn't notice this I did, therefore I asked for a reduction in price as for a meagre discount of 20% on a whole install of over £5k didn't seem that much, so I did get a discount. The gentlemen in the office (John) was all very nice about it, but then played the 'well we are giving you a scaffold tower for free' etc making me feel like they were doing me a favour buy giving a discounted rate on the log burner (although it was straight from the manufacturer at a discounted price!). Correspondence ensued regarding dates of install and the MD Sam messed up dates, so I took leave from work only to find out that they were not coming and there was some kind of misunderstanding - no misunderstanding on my part, lack of communication within the company was at fault. So 2 days off work for nothing, no log burner install. Then the day finally (Aug 24) arrives and the two gents installing tell me the flue would be too close to combustibles (i.e the window frame) and they couldn't install it, so they spent the whole morning waiting around, to be told finally by the office to return to base with log burner too. Solution was to fit skamotec boarding around the area (or a different stove) to ensure fire regulations compliance, at an additional cost of over £300 (which I insisted they pay for as it was their mess up in not surveying correctly, in the first place). They initially wanted to place skamotec (30mm) board plus magply (20mm) on the wall but after some self research I found out that you can actually paint directly over the board if it has been primed with skamotec primer - so I told them this and then they charged me £40 for the primer to be shipped, I now have a 2 litre tub of the stuff sitting on a shelf as it too two coats and I painted over with the original wall emulsion. The whole extra boarding issue couldve been ascertained at survey...and the communication back and forth ref this could've been more pleasant if I wasn't presented with the "we are doing you a favour attitude". I was extremely patient as at one stage I was going to cancel the whole install but they would've charged me £580 restocking charge which is utterly ridiculous as they definitely wouldve been able to resell the stove!
A month or so rolls by and now my board has been fitted, and finally this week (11 Nov 24) the gents come to install. A fairly smooth install (so it seemed) and to be fair the two guys who installed seemed genuine and were capable guys. So thank you to them both, if only the rest of the company worked like these two. However, an additional bend was used but was not discussed with me by the installing team nor the additional cost which i find later in the original invoice , so I was slammed with another invoice of £540! Which then was said to be an admin mistake and that it was actually £270. The only good thing apart from the guys installing is that the stove is a nice stove (which I'll take credit for!). All in all from 5th June 24 to 11 Nov 24 dealing with the company has been tiresome, disappointing and very frustrating, and if I was able to turn back the clock I wouldn't choose to go with them again. If you are local to Cornwall and want a log burner install with a proper survey and follow up info, good communications and fair pricing - DO NOT CONSIDER CORNWALL WOODBURNERS.

Brilliant service

Brilliant service! Really lovely to speak to on the phone, easy to get booked in - great survey done - and fantastic job done! We had a wood burner that was totally dangerous and now we have a safe living room, and a lovely fireplace. They also did some work on patching up the hole left when we had our old condemned Rayburn removed. Thank you guys! Would definitely recommend.

Cornwall Woodburners are a total bunch…

Cornwall Woodburners are a total bunch of disreputable Cowboys....
They use obscure fire regs to make themselves work ripping out perfectly safe operating units and then put in units that are not fit for purpose and their follow up service is appalling.
Avoid this company like the plague !!!

Beware

We bought a display model gas stove. We later found the model was obsolete and the guarantee had been reduced from three to one year. We had an installation survey and agreed a price for installation. The gas fitter turned up without correct materials, went shopping for two hours, did less than two hours gas fitting and left without completing. Woodburners then wanted to charge extra for a second visit and materials. The materials included a Stanley tape measure. Woodburner's response to my complaints was poor.
The only positive - we like the stove.

Zero Customer Service

Like another reviewer, I would have given them 0 stars, but there is no option. We had an interior designer, oversee internal features to our new house. We had not moved to Cornwall at the time, and it was easier to manage this way. I chose the fire from their contemporary range (a Studio remote control fire - not cheap!), which was installed by them.
The fire worked for 2 weeks in December, then nothing! I was told to replace the 2 gas bottles (£80), as when I lifted them they were empty. The valve however, was still green. I waited about 3 weeks for a gas engineer, who eventually arrived and was very helpful. He replaced the valve (as it was faulty and left).
When we tried to use the fire in a cold snap in February, it did not work again! I contacted them and went through the same process. This time they were quicker, and the same lovely engineer agreed that it was a fault with the fire.
I was passed back to the office, who told me to contact Gazco direct. In the meantime, I was away and I couldn't pick up voicemail. Gazco had called me, but it was only when I got back that I heard the message. I called them back and had to answer a load of technical questions, which the technician couldn't understand why I was answering, as I was a customer and not the installer. He said that had the Installer done their job properly and provided customer service, then this would have happened a lot quicker. He reiterated, that the line was only for contractors, and not customers.
We are still waiting for a visit from Gazco, after nearly 5 months of having the fire and only 2 weeks of use! They have been very helpful though.
There is ZERO customer service from Cornwall Woodburners, as they should have managed this process, not me and I would advise anyone, not to use them unless you have loads of time to chase up faults and like looking at a fire that doesn't work.

superb service and workmanship.

Almost every aspect of the work carried out by Cornwall Woodburners has been excellent. I say almost because there was a problem with one job but, to their real credit, they rectified it and resolved as soon as they could. The team are professional, careful, and ensure that work is carried out to the highest standard. Whether it’s just chimney sweeping or more major work, they do an excellent job. I cannot fault them!

Excellent job on our flue liner installation (log burner)

I was surprised to read the one other review just now and then checked the date to see how recently the work was done and it was some time ago now. All I can vouch for is the recent flue liner installation by this Company and I can honestly say our experience of them has been faultless from start to finish. We initially contacted the owner as we have an old property and only found out we needed a flue liner when a chimney sweep told us the woodburner was a major fire issue with no inner liner. The owner came out very quickly to assess the fireplace and see if we could retain our existing old log burner, he gave us a quote and we left it for a while re money issues and only rang again just before Christmas to ask to go ahead with liner only. Despite the short notice, his wife was lovely and managed to fit us in just before Christmas as we’d hoped but not really expected. Two very efficient guys came out yesterday, were here 8.00 as promised and left at 4.00 - leaving everything spotless, stove looking great and even lit it to test it before leaving. Everything is working perfectly and even my partner who is in the building trade so sees quite a few installations (not always good!) said they’d done a great job - he’s super fussy too, checks everything!! From our experience here, yesterday, would definitely recommend without hesitation. We are now certificated for insurance (a lot of companies that offer this service aren’t always registered to do this I believe) worth checking first. Price competitive too.
