Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 428 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the subscription model, often feeling misled by free trial offers that automatically converted into paid plans without clear communication. They frequently reported being charged for services they did not intend to purchase or use, leading to unexpected recurring payments. The payment system was a major concern, with many struggling to manage their subscriptions, cancel trials, or prevent unwanted charges. A significant number of people also found the customer service to be abysmal, describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to reach a real person, often resulting in cases being closed without resolution. Refund requests were consistently denied, even when customers had evidence of charges or unused services, forcing some to dispute charges with their banks. Additionally, some users experienced issues with the website, such as broken links, inability to access content despite having a subscription, or problems with identity verification.

Extremely Frustrating Experience

Extremely Frustrating Experience
I paid for Coursera last month. Just yesterday I planned my courses and everything was working fine. Tonight, I suddenly can’t log in at all.
Even though my password is correct and saved, I’m blocked with this error:
{"message":"too-many-requests","explanation":"You are temporarily blocked as you have made too many requests. Please try again later."}
I wasn’t doing anything unusual — just normal account access. Being locked out of a paid service without warning or clear support is unacceptable.
Very disappointing experience.
Looks scam to me

I was charged $39 again after already…

I was charged $39 again after already paying for and completing the Google IT course. The second charge happened automatically, and when I contacted support within the same hour, I was told that no refund would be issued.
There was no clear warning that finishing the course would still result in another charge, and refusing a refund for an immediate, unwanted payment feels unfair and misleading.
Be very careful: even after you finish the course, charges may continue, and customer support may refuse to help.

Rude unhelpful people

Rude unhelpful people. And msot of the customer service was AI. But even when you get a person they don;t care about you - they just say the fine details of their endless policies say you can't get a refund.

I didn't mean to auto renew and I cancelled right away. But no refund.

Getting ID approval is impossible

Getting ID approval is impossible.

I have to hold the ID in front of webcam and get photo taken. Now as arm amputee doing that and hitting "take photo" is near impossible as such.

Then, the webcam does take a halfways human legible photo but it is not extremely good. Just OK. their software seems entirely unable to read that.

So really they seem to be one disability hating bunch and that is why I give them 1 star for that. They can change that if they want or not but the fact alone that in this day and age they have this strange way of ID documentation is not acceptable a bit.

Avoid!!!!

Avoid. I encountered a problem in the course where there was a technical issue on the platform (Lab environment to submit assignment) that prevented me from submitting my assignment. The tech support was an unhelpful AI assistant who could not resolve the issue. Eventually, I was switched to a “human” representative, who claimed that the technical problem with Coursera Lab was a third-party issue—even though the Lab is hosted by Coursera. In the end, there was no help, and I could not continue the course because the assignment could not be submitted.

charged for a subscription that was cancelled without getting a refund

charged for a subscription that was twice the agreed subscription amount. canceled and requested a refund.
The customer service is ridiculous. I have contacted customer support by their page, email and phone which they don't answer. I have sent a request through the contact for support page three times and receive and email from Cora telling me to do the same thing over again to request a refund.
the phone number they use and send to your financial facility when billing is not answered.
If I could give less than 1 star I would.

Shameful

They use misleading navigational experience: it looks like you're purchasing a course one off, while instead you are activating a subscription. You only realise what's going on when you look at the bank account. the customer care is rude and do not provide any evidence to turn down your request for a refund.

Then cane back a month after, replying that they need all the previous information provided again!!! Send it again no reply, please save your money and your sanity!! Awful company and spiteful customer support!

Do not use these guys.

Do not use these guys.

They will do everything in their power to hide any subscription you have, make it impossible for you to cancel and then refuse a refund when called out on their terrible customer service.

Absolute scam of a company

Absolute scam of a company. Tried to cancel after free trial and charged me the full value and wouldn't refund despite what should be within a cooling off period.

To make matters worse, their AI support Cora also separately granted the refund only for me to have to find out that this was incorrect when redirected to human support team.

Scammers, free trial collects your credit card information and keeps it. You can cancel the trial, remove the card, delete your account and you will still be charged.

I found it impossible to cancel this…

I found it impossible to cancel this service. I had to correspond with them and their AI generated responses kept sending me to a page with no cancel tab. They told me they could find no information on my account despite me being able to login. When I eventually located their cancel tab I was told I had no purchases despite them taking money from my account.

They are either massively incompetent or fraudulent.
