My spouse contracted a severe case of travelers dysentery while touring the Chao Phraya River during this Holland America excursion from mid-November through early December. Just hours after the hour-long ride on an unprotected and rough ride on the Phraya river (where he most likely inhaled or took from the river's spray) he was fevered. Within hours he became so ill that he was unable t o stand steadily and certainly was unable to take food or water. He and I lost and 4 entire after a visit to the medical room on the Westerdam. Hence we were were unable to actually enjoy cruise from November 25, 26, 27 and 28, 2025 during his recovery time where I assisted with his recovery.
Zurich took over to months to review our claim and we received 1/3 of what we believe was due to us.
I am appalled at the Company's performance and complete lack of customer service, empathy, and certainly equity. DO NOT use this Company when travelling and specifically when you're taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

We had booked travel to Africa but I had a stroke on 23/8/25 and was unable to travel for health reasons, made the claim to Covermore and the full amount of the claim less the $250
Excess was paid into our account today. Delays were caused by hospital and Doctors reports which were extensive being received and accepted. And by “ an internal processing error” by Covermore. A lengthy process and quite stressful but ended well.10/3/26

Our trip was cancelled unexpectedly by the airline, cover more were very helpful in explaining the process to lodge a claim. We received notification quite promptly from covermore regarding our claim. We will use cover more again for any overseas travel.
Be careful. Your rental car excess is NOT covered by Cover-More! They use a loop hole which basically means most people are not covered. They require you to have Comprehensive Insurance but most if not all rental companies don’t offer comprehensive insurance they offer Loss and Damage Waiver which is essentially the same - youre covered for loss or damage but have an excess. An excess that you think is covered by Cover-More but it’s not. It’s just a devious way for them to get out of many claims while still appearing that they are covering you for rental car excess but they do not. Don’t rely on this if you’re getting a rental car.
The company has responded promptly to all my correspondence and kept me abreast of all necessary action.
We would like to thank cover- more we where very close to our travel time when my husband could not move his arm and hand going yo the doctor and the surgeon had to be operated on we have been treated so kindly by all staff in regards to advice in this very difficult time. We express our gratitude to all
In all our years of travelling, we have never cancelled a trip. Claiming trip cancellation due to illness took nearly 3 months . Despite many promises from numerous discussions with various claim officers, I was extremely frustrated with lack of communication, which I feel is very important . I felt if I didn’t ring regularly, my claim would still be in limbo. I’m sure covermore has thousands of claims, however when an officer promises to finalise the claim that day or the next, this was the constant issue we had. I am happy for covermore to ring me to discuss my review.
I only ever use Cover More as I find them fast, efficient and fair in their processes. My recent claim related to an injured child that required an immediate return to Australia from overseas which was stressful but dealing with Cover-More was stress-less. Head and Shoulders above the rest!
My claim was approved 4 weeks ago or so. You'd think I'd have the money by now, wouldn't you? Except that since then Covermore have
- managed to botch two payment attemtps.
- Not believed me when I said the mistake was at their end, and that the second payment was also returned by my bank due to the same error with my account number (they inexplicably included a dahs).
- Held me on the phone for hours repeatedly without actually DOING anything for me.
- Given me countless sentences starting with "should" while thinking that the same action might result in different outcomes.
- Not investigated to matter properly.
- Not made the payment on the day promised.
- Given me unrealistic timelines.
- Refused to put me through to team leaders.
- Not called me back when promised.
- Hung up on me
- And only initiated complaints proceeding when I threaten with the Ombudsman and media.
And now I have to wait another 30 days for the complaint to be finalised, while they still have my money and I can't pay my bills. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

Absolutely useless. Their customer service is beyond a joke. Representatives with a poor grasp of English that fail to get points across and cannot understand what is being asked of them.
I'll take my money elsewhere!

Developed serious spinal problems overseas, contacted CoverMore. There main concern for the first 3 days was to ensure I had charged $500 to my CBA card. No advice or assistance offered. Took 3 weeks to reject, during that time no welfare or health assistance, no cost implications offered. Your on your own. Currently disputing rejection. But in my opinion CoverMore modus is to get policy holder to head back to Australia, at their own cost asap to avoid them having any liability. Truly disappointing

This possibly applies to most insurance companies: for profit motivated only.. but I will never waste my money on Cover More Again. I am writing to Webjet as well, they do not deserve the coverage and to lure unsuspecting folks thinking they are covered for travel contingency.
My claim for an airfare refund by my chronically ill daughter was dealt with so lacking in empathy, the forms require needless medical information and no consideration for a complex medical condition.
The excess is unreasonable, so basically this insurance is not worth the paper it is printed on.

We purchased a Covermore travel policy through our CBA credit card account for a 21 day fly-stay-cruise holiday package. Due to an emergency at home while on our holiday (our home burnt down in a bushfire) we needed to end our trip early and fly home. We lodged a claim for our emergency flights, travel to the airport and the unused portion of the cruise. Some of the required justification documents were delayed due to our travel agents conditions on releasing information, once our Covermore consultant received the documents our claim was approved and paid out within 48hrs. We were impressed with the professionalism of the Covermore consultants who dealt with our claim and the speed that our claim progressed to finalisation.

Needed to make an international trip but knew that due to some possible medical issues with a family member there was a chance I might need to cancel at the last minute to look after them. Cover More was the only insurance provider I could find that would let me cancel for any reason and get some of the money back (if I selected the optional Cancellation Plus cover). As it turned out, I did need to cancel the trip, and Cover More honored their policy and refunded me 75% of my costs.

After falling ill on the last day of our Bali trip en route to Thailand, I became quite unwell with food poisoning and severe dehydration. There was no time to call Cover-More for advice as I needed medical attention immediately after landing.
Two weeks later, once I arrived home, I submitted my medical claim online and it was fully reimbursed within just 10 days. The process was incredibly easy and stress-free.
I’d also like to mention a previous experience from a year earlier in Vietnam during Typhoon Yagi, when our cruise and flights were cancelled. I called Cover-More upset and unsure of what to do or where to go. Even after our call was cut off, the consultant was able to locate me via the Cover-More app and call me back. No claim was ultimately needed, but the help, reassurance and genuine empathy I received were second to none. With her guidance, I was able to cancel and rebook flights directly with the airline.
Knowing that Cover-More truly cares about their customers makes all the difference!! Highly Recommend.

Had/have a very simple textbook claim that, as seems to be pretty common practice for insurance companies, has been rejected. We have begun the complaint process with them and since then, they continually duck and weave from our phone calls. We have now initiated AFCA and will be seeking legal advice for other options. Absolute rort of a company and I will never, ever use them again and will urge anyone else to do the same. Our holiday was ruined which was the cause of our claim, and these monsters have somehow made this nightmare even worse.

To Cover More
On our recent trip 11th October 2025, on a 15 day European River Cruise we were unfortunately asked to disembark half way through due to low water levels.we were left to our own devices to organise on going accommodation & transport which didn’t come cheap.
However we thought we may have been able to recover some of our food & taxi expenses to & from our accommodation & transport.
As you can understand we also found this a very stressful & anxious time which is unfortunately not claimable.
Cover More has been more than helpful to recover our extra expenses in a reasonable time frame.
Yours Faithfully
Ted & Jan Boulton
